@@AverageGIJoeOutdoors stripes normally are for amount of time you've been practicing. Its different for a lot of gyms and some don't even use stripes.
Wouldn’t the student know he’s being promoted if he has a curriculum of some kind and he/she has passed a test of some kind? Or do promotions happen when “i think he’s ready”
I’ve seen a few belt promotions and ehhh. Went a little different afterward. But super cool for this gal and kudos to her, they certainly don’t give away the higher ranks without earning it 🙌

Depends... I think the test are wack but that's my opinion. Our gym promotes like you said, the the instructors deems you ready.
Each school is different. Our coaches promote when we have performed at said level for a period of time.

I was wondering how he was gonna tie that belt without her knowing and still make it look like a demonstration, didn't happen.
I tried my best and unfortunately it didn’t happen but in the end she was happy and that’s what really matter for me.
