"The Knights Templar were accused of being heretics"
Ubisoft when making the Assassins Creed series: *maniacal laughter*
Yeah, wasn't their grand master falsely accused of devil worship because the pope got tired of funding them?
@@MysteriumArcanum Nexus is referring to how the Templars in Assassins Creed are pretty much evil.
In history, the Knights Templar were like bankers. They would help people travel with their money, or give the Templars money for safe keeping, while taking the Templars took small sums for payment. They got pretty rich quickly. The Catholics didn’t like this, so they claimed they were worshippers of Baphomet and burned them all at the stake. Then, like the good Christians the Catholics were back then, they took all the money.
@@Highwayman21 I knew the Templars were the main baddies of AC I just somewhat forgot what became of them. It makes sense they were accused of worshipping Baphomet as I first heard about this whole thing in a Helltaker fan comic featuring Baphomet. She mentioned she had a brief fling with the Grand Master of the Templars so i just assumed he was the only one to face any real retribution and the rest of the order just disbanded but I guess I wasn't 100% correct.
May the father of understanding guide you.
The king owd the templars money and cant play so he had them killed... ( short version
Years ago I read a book about the fear of the number 13. Its conclusion was that the Knights Templar and other esoteric explanations were pretty much bunk. The original superstition was “13 people sitting around a table, the first to get up will die” because of Judas and the Last Supper. Over the centuries it morphed into a general mistrust of the number 13, and adding it to the already-unlucky Friday was a relatively modern invention only found in the last 250ish years.
I only know that because of Harry Potter
13 being unlucky dates back further then Christ but yeah, 13 pops up alot in history as bad luck.
@@goblim1462 forgot about that
Yea but the problem is we have some proof that the number 13 being unlucky (don't know about the month) was around in the Roman era's.
So, that´s why 13 is an *un-loki* number!
Sorry for the pun. Sans is better!
Undertale? More like underfail
Undertale? More like underTELL me a better pun.
@@gotoyourroom4483 bruh
@@lucinakingmelee9871 bruh, Everyone *HATES* puns!!! And they´re not probably funny!
Loki, he would have probably chuckled.
Lord knows eye did.
Jokes on those people 13s my lucky number
Dude. You are the greatest. You teach and you’re funny as HELL. On that note, the Knights Templar was...a sketchy group at best. At first they were commissioned to help out the less fortunate and do “righteous” deeds. But apparently they took advantage of their power and abused it.
That reputation was given to them by the king of France who also happened to owe the group a lot of money
@@idonhaveanyideawhattocallm1472
I read reports of Templars taking advantage of the fact local police and judges weren't allowed to hold them accountable for petty misbehavior.
Lol, just like any other organization with power, it's just human nature unfortunetly
@@idonhaveanyideawhattocallm1472 true. I do remember hearing that as well. That a lot of rumors were spread about them that were not true.
That was mostly french Royal propaganda at the time to help discredit them. They were no more different then Knights Hosplitar in their deeds, both good and ill
This is are a bunch of great fun facts about Friday the 13th. But I will make a confesssion...I did not know that it was Friday the 13th today, until you said it. Big irony there.
I hear Norse and I immediately know Loki had something to do with it
Interesting thing as well, if you add up the digits in 13, it equals 4. In Chinese, 4 is an unlucky number because it sounds very close to the word death (but with a different tone)
I've Always loved mythology of all types glad to see someone else does too
The more I watch this guy the more I realize just HOW MUCH Norse mythology amd culture has actually had a large inpact on American culture. Really blows my mind. I mean, I can easily see a lot of Greek/Roman(pretty much synonymous) impacts but the Norse is truly stagering when you really look at it. Sneaks up on you
Norse mythology on American culture: *GOTCHA BITCH*
Go Loki
A few weeks ago my friends and I watched the first two Friday the 13th movies in my basement. Tonight, in honor of the rare occurrence, I will finish the next 2 or 3 while my parents watch the first one at a birthday party for a family friend.
I thought you were pausing for dramatic effect at the end, but then I realized I just paused it 😂
In Spain, for some reason, the bad luck day is Tuesday the 13
Makes sense!! Friday is the start of the weekend day!! Tuesday is still 4 more days of work day!
Yes, we have a saying that goes "Martes y trece ni te cases ni te embarques". It basically means: if it's tuesday the 13th don't get married and don't get on a boat.
Actually friday is considered the most blessed day in the week by muslims and we believe its the first of judgment day
Yes but only Friday not the 13th
@@smilingjawnny7763 yes, well actually i dont think they mention it
Yeah with a special prayer that is

Coud you possibly do some videos on slavic mythology and gods? They are mostly under rated and not many people talk about them as any other gods
Disney knows about them. Night on Bald Mountain anyone. Disney knows everything
I’ve done a few. Will do more
@@royroy3
And screws everything up.
They had a very dualistic, binary structure, from memory. For every "Good" god, there was an equal & opposite "Evil" god. (Though they weren't nice if they were good, or dishonest if they were evil - they're just a little more human, more nuanced.)
Take Veles (darkness, stuff underground & unclean things) & Perun (clouds, thunder & lightning).
It was generally a good idea to never negotiate with any god, 'cause they were tricky - with an, um ...unique... sense of humor, but be polite, trust their word (& for goodness sake keep yours - you don't want to know what they did to Oathbreakers...)
@@rainynight02 Hey stop talking about the Star Wars sequels specifically the The Rise of Skywalker that everyone loves so much x infinity because Rey automatically gets super Jedi powers with very little training whatsoever. 😂
Love ur profound knowledge on mythology and how intricate yet funny ur vids r. I currently own all the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, The Heroes of Olympus series, the Kane chronicles, Magnus Chase series, as well as all of the Trials of Apollo books including the new one from last year The Tower of Nero. I say all of this to say that I respect ur knowledge and clear passion for cultural myths🙏👏
The messiah, the son of GOD literally getting tortured to death in the most brutal way possible.
The Christians: Aah yes, the GOOD Friday.
because in doing so he literally saved the whole world
@@holoreandholoel5816 While that is certainly true, it was a really, really bad Friday for poor Jesus- specifically the getting tortured and then bled to death bits.
Well if we make it into bad friday, what’s the point on Him doing it so? And daym it sound like some girl problematic day
@@MutualSOUL I get your point, it must have hurt a lot, but Jesus knew what he had to do and lived through that pain for a great cause. But like honestly ouch.
This is a big insult to my religion
For example: Odin sacrificing himself to the Tree of Yggdrasil and having a pagan stab him with a spear through the chest, is an uncanny resemblance to the crucifixion of Jesus.🤔
I was born on a Friday 13th.
Me: Whatzup Loki!
Him: Oh yeah! Your that cursed girl.
Another one, some witch covens met up during Friday nights and were usually in odd numbered groups or made decisions though an odd numbered vote, hence why a lot of covens appeared to have 13 head members
Mythology guy: I ain't going near him.
Jason: smart...
This guy could single handedly fix the education system if mythology said he could
This channel is criminally underrated dude too many people don't appreciate mythology and it shows
You know, I never thought I would find mythology so intresting before I found you.

Dude that has to be the biggest bruh moment for the Templars
Jason is a Templar knight confirmed
I once asked my mom what she thought about Friday the 13th and she said she thinks it's a lucky day because her cooking always turns out perfect on that day.
I was born on a friday 13th in october
I'll just leave with my black cat now
"wanna know why 13 is an unlucky number? Well, it has to do with Loki-"

Fun fact the hms royal oak was sunk in scapa flow on Friday the 13th at anchor by a german u boat in the night with 3 torpedo’s, and over 833 crew members died out of around 1200 onboard
“Call it my thirteenth and final labor!”

Me; *walk up to Jason with my phone out* watch this
Plot twist: Jason Voorhees is the reincarnation of one of the Knights Templar
I looovvveee trivia of this kind!!
I thought it was because Friday 13th was originally a day of Frey’s where making loved was celebrated and practiced. Goddess of Fertility and all that.
Then Christianity came and made that day bad by vilifying free love.
Uh, don't wanna be THAT guy, but do you mean Frey or Freya?
Freya. Right.
But the point is Christianity is hypocritically prudish.
@@greenxxxable Tell me about it. Especially when one of the commandments in Genesis was 'go forth, be fruitful, and multiply.'
@@greenxxxable
Hypocritically? Christians may be hypocritical, but the doctrine itself is pretty consistent in its misogynistic prudery.
@@oceanberserker
Its entirely possible to multiply with one person. Remember, antibiotics weren't invented until 50 years ago. So promiscuity used to be suicidal. Not to mention the death rate for teen mothers used to be 50% by age 20. So all those taboos conservative societies invented used to be necessary. Just enacted with unnecessary cruelty and shame.
The thing is last year on my birthday, Friday the 13th in March was the last day my school was in school before COVID and immediately quarantine began where I lived
NGL this is a pretty poggers channel. Really answers my constant question of "Who the hell else could possible cares about this?" I know a good amount of the stuff referenced or discussed, but that by no means brings down the quality.
For me Friday the 13th is actually my lucky day since one time I found either $20 or $50 on the floor
*me knowing this guy does mythology*
HEY DID YOU KNOW THE KNIGHTS-
*him talking about the templars*

On the second time watching it I actually listened to what he was saying and it was really cool but the first time all I could stare at was his hair-
I’m actually born on Friday the thirteenth and I didn’t know this it’s really cool
Then there's me who had not only my golden birthday, but also my 18th birthday on Friday the 13th
"Do you know why Friday the 13th is considered a day of misfortune?"
Me who did a whole slideshow about it for school: *excited nodding *
Forget the facts I'm coining the phrase "a winkady doo" you cant stop me I'm calling dibs!
Ok, thanks, I knew the Templar one, and the one about Christ, did not know that about Loki, good stuff. And thanks, again
During the school year of 2019-2020, my stepdad’s birthday fell on Friday the 13th. His half-birthday also fell on Friday the 13th.
Coincidentally, his half-birthday, Friday the 13th, was also the day COVID-19 was announced to be a pandemic. It was also the last day before spring break at my old school; we never came back.
Weird coincidences.
Friday the 13th has always been a blessed and fortunate day for me. From finding money to just having a peaceful and relaxing day, I welcome that day.
Just wait until someone invites you to a certain camping spot.
The fact that I was born in friday the 13th is still goddamn unlucky to me
I was born on Good Friday. Not only that. I was a late baby. I waited to be born on Friday the 13th.
Mythology Guy is the quality side of TikTok.
Moral of the story never have dinner with 13 people on a friday
The fact that I was born on Friday the 13th..that explains why I have so much misfortune

Another reason 13 is unlucky is because there is 13 knots in a hangman's noose
Huh I never realised I played apart of that.
My trickery knows no bounds
I heard this as I'm playing friday the 13th the game
No one:

Me who turned 13 on Friday the 13th: 👁️👄👁️
Ah yes... he was the 13th person to arrive. Clesrly the numver 13 that has existed for literaly all time before is now "unlucky"
I was born three days before a Friday the 13th
The story of the Templar’s always makes me sad, they didn’t deserve what happened to them and now because of assassins creed people think that they were evil.
We don’t have a room 13 because of the fear of 13 being a bad/unlucky number
Ur shirts text being backwards does indeed make me daM
And my name is jason
"But not me though"- yeah me neither bud
Reminds me of those old, " *Insert name* is illuminati*
In front of all of us right now is the god of History
I didn't even notice yesterday was Friday the 13th
The version I heard was a server went down to boiler thirteen to tend to it, while tending to it his hand got stuck inside when closing the latch, no one came down to help and he died and of course the boy was named Friday
As I see this after a terrible day on Friday the 13th
Do you think the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was on a Friday the 13th
Ah yes, 13 people at Jesus' dinner. Everyone forgets about the 13th Apostle.
