I really hope we get some moment like this in any Sonic Movie where Eggman says something really specific. Specific enough to offend Sonic to the extreme resulting in a cataclysmic presentation of what Sonic thinks is his limit.
Probably some kind of insult involving Longclaw and how Sonic was at fault for her death.
Maybe he destroyed green hills and killed or hurt everyone sonic knew. And putting this one and the first guy's idea he might go on to insult longclaw

Props to Eggman for managing to hard-counter Sonic...but props to Sonic. Despite the machine being *so* overly, cripplingly specialized to him that it *folded* by one strike from Knuckles and trashed and thrashed him otherwise, he did in fact dent that shield. And for just one moment, put the fear of hedgehog into Eggy.

@@sonlarry2.056 it was a concerted effort, but once the Chaotix were freed, Knux and Mighty tore both of the Egg Breaker's arms apart in one swoop. The entire machine fell to the Freedom Fighters and the Chaotix.
@@veevyern Exactly. The machine was build to outmatch all of sonic's stats, while there were stronger folks in the freedom fighters (Mighty, Knuckles), and improving the armor would slow him down.
What do you suppose hurt Sonic more? Eggman’s weapons, or his words?

Lesson Learned: *NEVER* tell Sonic he's reached his limit.
Though Eggman was just extremely lucky to have beaten him and roast him so hard. He figured wrecking Sonic with words would make him suffer far more than just flat-out killing him.
Yeah, otherwise Sonic would have made Eggman into a egg yolk by turning him into Roadkill.
sometimes i forget just how much more psychotic archie eggman was. but this is a perfect example, he was perfectly fine intending to convert everyone sonic knew into fuel

This is Eggman at his most deadly, he’s learnt from his losses and has made a mech that actually beat Sonic. I mean obviously if Sonic had the emeralds and this battle would of gone differently. But it’s incredible to see Eggmans mech survive Sonic slamming into it at full speed I mean Sonic can run at Mach speed nothing should survive being hit that hard. What’s worse for Sonic is that Eggman did what Scar did to Simba telling him to run away and live with the humiliation of his defeat.
This is probably my favorite moment from the Sonic Archie comic. This was an amazing dub of it. Like holy heck it’s good.
But it's dumb tho.

Telling the fastest thing alive, that loves running fast, that he has a limit is the worst thing you could say.
This is why i love the archie comics. Moments like these spread out all through its run before the genesis wave and the mandates. Seeing sonic lose (and lose it a little if you know what I mean) is something you just dont see anymore and its sad, because heroes cant ALWAYS win, otherwise they and the story isnt interesting. They sometimes have to lose and lose BADLY so they can gey back up again and inspire us.

Not to mention Eggman loosing it. Sonic winning and then realizing his victory came at the price of someone’s sanity. Sonic legit got worried about Eggman for a bit there. And I mean it wasn’t any worse of a loss for Eggman than normal, it was just….the straw that broke the camels back. Which made it all the more jarring, how it seemed to come out of nowhere and Sonics expression really sold how jarring it was even for him. Watching his worst enemy suddenly going feral and mad and writhing on the ground in delirium….
As you said heroes can't always win, and stay calm and pure is a hard thing as well. If some hero loses it in the middle of the fight he will go berserk mode, you know like "the rage of the kindest person is the worst one"
Unfortunately, so many people that watch superhero cartoons and shounen anime *hate* seeing the heroes lose or reach the brink of despair. Because they're either called whiny, wimpy, or a weakling.
Some just prefer an OP and flawless hero than one that has limits and has actual flaws.

It's amazing seeing two enemies push each other, it's amazing to see that even if Eggman won, Sonic surprised him there and it's amazing to see Eggman push Sonic so far that he was angry and then broken.

It's a pretty impressive curveball. Any clash that is proceeded by the statement "I've got your limit RIGHT HERE!" immediately gives the assumption of this exact encounter. Evil Genius thinking he has everything under control, and hero destroys expectations. You'd think "Yeah, this is a victory moment for Sonic the Hedgehog"
But nah. He loses. And that somehow hits different in a really good way.
And your voice acting is on point btw. That line still hits different.
remember, he was scarred for a momment, scared that the most indestructable thing in the game wouldnt do anything to this hedgehog barreling at him.
The "your not fast enough" should've been the last one. This is such a cool scene for Archie sonic

It just means Eggman had a powerful machine. Don't forget that Eggman has made machines that rivaled and even surpassed Gods, in the games alone

What I always liked about this scene was showing that all this time Sonic has been retraining super speed power and can actually go much, MUCH faster than what we presume.
Which is kinda similar to what DC Comics sometimes does with The Flash when they want to remind us: Yes, he *IS* faster than Superman and wasn't even trying during all those Charity Races.
(By that logic, I sometimes wonder if Sonic could run so fast he could literally travel through time...WITHOUT a Time Stone.)
This was the first Archie Sonic comic I ever brought. This scene was freaking fire.

holy shite! I never read the Archie Comics, but have tried to read a few issues here and there after reading IDW. (only read just parts of the unleashed comics and some of sonic universe). THIS is freaking epic, and I don't even know the full context. i wish I knew where to start with the comics so I could experience these epic moments with the build upT~T
I'd say read from the start, but it will be quite some time before you get to the better stories (not that it's all bad.) I hear alot of people recommend starting with 160 since that's when Ian Flynn took over and stories/characters got way better or 150 just because it starts significant developments for two long-term characters before they start showing up more frequently. The sonic universe series doesn't start until around 197 of the main archie comics. After 247 there is a really bad retcon reboot for both comics that had to remove a bunch of the characters due to copyright nonsense of Ken Penders. Still some good stories before that though and it's not like the stories after it are bad, just it's sad to see storylines get cut short and some really bad endings for others. Fan web comics like Scourge eternal blackout and Archie Sonic Online are picking up the slack by continuing story prior to the reboot.
@@Alabaster-White If I may, they didn't just remove characters made by Ken, but other creators too. Other former employees did not that Ken was in the right (even those who hated him). Archie themselves claimed the contract stating they owned the characters he created were "lost in a fire". There's also the fact that SEGA was becoming more and more controlling, to the point of not having characters have family unless they were introduced in the games; such as Cream and Vanilla. Thus, Uncle Chuck was changed to being a friend of Sonic's (now unknown) family.
But yeah, I highly recommend the series. Though I can't say anything one way or the other regarding the series following the universal reboot, as I didn't read those issues.

@@Alabaster-White oh hell naw, you gotta start at the beginning. Not for the story but for the nostalgia. Some of the earlier issues are put into the extras of sonic mega collections. Shit hits like a freight train when you look back at it.

To be fair, while it is shown that Sonic hardly did any damage, keep in mind that is the same bumper from Spring Yard Zone/any casino zone. The fact he even managed to damage that in the first place is insane. Also, the voicing on this is amazing, really shows Sonic’s rage, great job!

This was a really big missed opportunity for Dark (Super) Sonic to debut in the Archie comics.
Why would that show up? There aren't any chaos emeralds. Also Sonic X had it's own comic continuity.

I honestly think that would have ruined this moment, this is meant to be Sonic at his lowest point, his friends are captured he Just got the absolute snot clobbered out of him, the resistance has been CRUSHED and he has no one but himself to rely on, sure with the benefit of hindsight we know Tails, Kuuckles, and Amy made it out okay, but back then we had no clue, this is supposted to symbolize that, well...Sonic failed.
Ive never liked the concept of "dark sonic"
It goes against what sonic himself is, positivity and using it to push through adversity.
Giving him this form thats supposed to run on rage and negativity goes agaisnt what the character is imo.
I also feel ppl gravitate towards that form because of how edgy it is.
Even in sonic X Eggman said "yea bruh this shit aint u".
So, from what i understood, that mech was made to be durable enough to take on Sonic while also reactive enough to catch Sonic off guard and predict his movements. The fact that he dented a shield that was probably meant to be damn near invulnerable to his attacks definitely says something. And not just that but Eggman didnt even try to counter him. He was just like "shit hope this works"
As cool as this could be, Sonic has never been shown to be this temperamental in the games.
His ego would never crumble this badly because proving his strenght to eggman is not something he's remotely interested on, it's always been about saving the people and their freedom.
@julianx2rl I'm afraid there's context you're missing here. This isn't just Eggman taunting Sonic a bit and kicking his ass. This is Eggman doinf that...
After capturing everyone he loves and razing everything they had all built together into ash. And to make matters worse, those Egg Grapes Eggman mentioned are *evil as shit.* They suck the biological energy from any creature trapped within. This is a fact he made very clear to Sonic, after letting Sonic know that literally every single one of his friends and family were teleported into and trapped within them. From Sonic's perspective he was in a losing battle with the lives of everyone he's ever loved on the line.
A battle he lost despite putting everything he had into it. It's a rather fucked up comic. This isn't just about proving himself. Even in the Archie comics, proving himself against Eggman hasn't been the point. This is a battle with everything he's ever stood for and cared about on the line.

Sonic was angry, heck, he's not about to lose, but rather already lost a bunch of his friends, and he still didn't get lost in rage, he wasn't scared into dropping his north.

During the Metal Virus saga they still had a way *forward.* Even as it came closer and closer to the wire there was still something to be done, steps to be taken toward the future. They were still planning, still trying. Furthermore, Sonic was more down on himself during the Metal Virus arc. He was partially to blame. He didn't have a good reason or the motivation to lash out as he does in this comic. Whereas in this comic, that's his final shot. The last ditch effort. From his perspective there isn't time for planning, pulling a stunt like getting the Chaos Emeralds at the last minute isn't in the cards. It was a desperate situation, and a last ditch effort against an enemy that was responsible for nearly every hardship Sonic had ever faced. In the Metal Virus things are dire, but there's always one more chance at salvation. In this comic, as far as Sonic knew, this WAS the last chance at salvation. And you need to keep in mind, he did still bounce back. He snapped in this comic certainly, but he was back to his usual self in just the next issue, when there was a chance at hope presented again.
If anything that's just more of a reason to see him get to a point like shown in video. Gives sonic more depth; makes him more interesting.
Man I remember reading this years ago by checking it out from the library. I had no idea what I was reading, but I liked it a lot because of this eggman machine and this feat of sonic's. I'm glad I went back and read all of it later on to get the full scope

Yes that boost sound effect is used in most of the boost era games, like Sonic colors and Unleashed.
