The moment that dawned on me I had a total nostalgia overload. The original Donkey Kong is such a defining game of my childhood, it's something I associate with very warm memories spending time with my older brothers as a kid... so the combination of all these little nuances and references at once literally started to bring tears to my eyes.

+RogersBase OMG! I'm glad I'm not the only one! xD I wanted to cry when I saw this in the "Top 5 8-bit Sequences" video and I was feeling so ridiculous and worried about myself... I was like "WTF is wrong with me?" but it's just the mix between old school 8-bit 2D Mario and modern 3D Mario with Pauline singing "Jump Up, Superstar" and the people cheering brought nostalgia and excitement together, besides I love the song, when the trailer featuring it came out I looked for the full song on UA-cam and played it a lot! This game is pure art! It seems way better than I expected from what I saw in the gameplays in Nintendo's channel!

I just realized this song contains the point value sound from the original Donkey Kong. I love all the references to the original arcade game in Mario's big new adventure. SMB1 is always given credit for starting Mario, so it's nice to see Donkey Kong get its dues.

im gonna be honest, this scene really hit home with me, it took me back to when i lived in New york which were some of my happiest childhood memories. so all i have to say is thank u nintendo for putting in such an amazing uplifting scene in this fantastic game.

Another possibility is that it's on Donkey Kong Island itself, as a ruined version of 25M can be seen in the background at the very beginning of the factory world in Donkey Kong Country Returns. Of course, it's more likely to just be a fun reference, as Crocomire's skull and Mr. Game & Watch can also be seen in the background of that very same level.
Considering that it's New Donk City, there are barrels all over the place, and all the streets are named after Donkey Kong characters, I'd say that's accurate.
I'm pretty sure that's actually confirmed as canon.

This song has been ingrained in my head, and I love it! I've never played the game, but when it was coming out, I remember the Ads here on UA-cam that had this song playing through it, and I actually enjoyed hearing them, though it did eventually become repetitive lol

Pauline is an awesome singer!!! I love her voice! But we all know that when she says that " I'll be your 1-up girl " meaning shell be back up for Peach. I love Pauline and I love peach but the thing that I don't like about Peach is that sometimes she makes mistakes for her kingdom and at first it was Pauline and Mario then Peach came and Mario paid more attention to Peach. I love both of the girls I'm happy that they brought Pauline in Odyssey😁🤗☺
