Anyways, people are acting like the new sony led tv is the best one ever made. 100% hisense just saying the u8n is 2024 flagship, but we really know hisense gonna drop another tv around September and the u8n already stepping all over that sony.
Thanks very much to Abby and the Rtings Team for this wonderful review. Could you please tell me if Rtings will be reviewing the Samsung QN900D? This seems like a unique tv to review as it appears (based on the specifications) to be the first 4K 240Hz TV. It is also interesting how it doesn’t seem to be catching the attention of gamers (also acknowledging the high price), perhaps because it is mainly advertised as an 8K TV. As a PC gamer and racing sim enthusiast I would be very interested to see a review of the Samsung QN900D.
Hello. Well, I don't know which country you are from... But here in Brazil the situation is terrible with Samsung TVs. We only have a 1 year warranty. And several people end up suffering from screen problems (Infinite Looping). The TV keeps turning on and off, with a total loss. It is a chronic defect. Durability is low. I would really like to know if this is worldwide? Is it happening where you live. Because I "suspect" that there could be lots of TVs with poor quality components coming to Brazil. We're made of idiots around here.
Heads up, your site likely has inaccurate key information on this model. “The QN90D series uses 4K IPS-ADS panels for the 85", 75", 65", and 55" models, and VA panels for the 98", 50, and 43" models.” Directly from Samsung. Your site states the qn90d 65” is a VA panel.
@@born_to_playThat’s great news. Saw many review sources going both directions on ADS or VA. So, I chatted with Samsung’s product support team to pull the info referenced* in my previous comment. Might pick one up if the 55” is VA.
We bought and tested the 65" model, and validated our results to ensure accuracy. We can confirm that the unit we purchased is indeed a 65" model, though we can't speak for possible regional differences or anything like that. We have seen manufacturers provide incorrect info about panel types in the past though, which is unfortunate.
Wanted to pick the u8n 55, but unfortunately hisense TVs always have different performances basing on region. Wish they fixed this like Samsung or LG that have uniformity in performance
Well Samsung's are the same.. The S90D is QD-Oled in Australia at only 55" and 65"..other sizes are WOLED and there's no information coming from Samsung
You can copy the settings from rtings for a more accurate picture, using film/filmmaker mode particularly always gives the best out-of-the-box results. I would pay to get my screen profesionally calibrated though, it's a night and day difference.
Hey, again ^^ what would you guys recommend for a two monitor setup for gaming and watching content/streaming/recording? Used to have an oled ultrawide but sold it as the aspect ratio makes streaming or video creating difficult.. would two 27 inch oleds be an awful idea due to burn in risks?

I have the QN90B 43". I use it as a TV, streaming device and PC monitor. Works great. It also has ATSC 3.0. I was looking to upgrade but QN90D but it only supports ATSC 1.0, VERY DISAPPOINTING.
I have the 43 inch and the Peak Brightness setting is missing. When I compare it to my 1000 nits OLED phone, the phone feels brighter. Also, HDR calibration tools report 1450 nits with Game HDR disabled. With Game HDR enabled it's around 1000 nits. I think that some models have capped peak brightness, which is disappointing because the reason I bought it is the reported 2k nits.
Hello friend, I hope you are well, I am interested in that same inch and I would like to ask a few things. Well historically the 43" and 50" models are always less bright than their larger brothers, plus the game mode is also generally less bright in general so 1500 nits is the usual for those inches. My question is, what console and what content did you use to measure those 1400 and 1000nits respectively? Did you try using the HDR Tone Mapping setting set to 'On' or 'Game HDR Advanced' on? to have brighter results? I have a 55" QN90B and in standard Game HDR, since it does not have an advanced option, it gets quite dark, but it improves by raising the ST.2084 parameter to +3. Could you try this too to see how the brightness is? I'm between This TV and the LG C4, but the latter is even less bright in HDR gaming, and I imagine that in bright games like Forza Horizon in desert or snow stages the C4 will lower the brightness even further considerably due to the aggressive APL and for that reason I think the QN90D is the best option in 43". Please tell me your experience in terms of brightness and contrast, if you enjoy the television for gaming and if you recommend it over other 43" televisions. And if the configurations that I told you improve the experience. Thank you very much my friend ☺️
@@manriprinze5187 I measured with Windows HDR Calibration tool. With 'Game HDR Advanced/Basic' it peaks around 1000 nits, regardless of HDR Tone Mapping setting. Raising the ST.2084 makes the overall content brighter but does not affect the specular highlights peak brightness. I found an article that measure the peak brightness of this 43" TV to be around 1300 nits, which seems to be close to what I think. I found that my Samsung winds up with oversaturated colors if I last turned it off in 4k UHD mode (watching 4k movies). If I return the tv back to a non-4k viewing mode (my Xbox) before turning it off, the color saturation switches modes and I don't have a problem the next time I turn it on.
Right now I can get the 65inch qn90d and the s90d for about the same price. For watching general tv shows in a family room that is usually well lit, but no real direct light right on the tv what is a better option. I like to watch sports but it’s not what’s always on by any stretch. Thanks!
IMO the QN90D is better suited for you since it has better low quality processing for general general tv shows. I have the QN90C and cant believe how good WWE wrestling looks using Antenna.
It's your fault for letting it burn in. You are supposed to turn on the OLED-care features. I always make sure I never go above 30 percent brightness on my LG C8.
Do the 43 and 50 inches of qn90D series, have different panel than the bigger displays of qn90D - without antireflection coating and worse viewing angle (like last years qn90c)?
Would it be possible to do a video (assuming its video worth) of why some monitors will give support for higher res + higher framrate but not a lower res. In that case its 1440p@144 it can't do but it can do 4K@144, which is more bandwidth. My CF791 can do 1440p@100, but can't do 1080p@100 and instead needs to drop to 1080p@60 🤷♂
they absolutely could, 2k@120hz works for sure, Its mostly about exposing resolutions through nvidia/cru settings and using the right cables with respect to bandwidth
Why do you guys call the screen simi-gloss? It's not, it's a gloss screen. You guys said the same about the Sony X93L. When I seen it at Best Buy it had a gloss screen just like my QN90A.
We purchased the 65QN90C last year after watching many many reviews and videos etc. when I first got it, I was blown away.. now however, after 2 not so great updates, the lack of DTS and inherent blooming not to mention the black crushing and macro blocking. (All terms I did not know prior to last year lol) have me to the point that our next tv will NOT be a Samsung!! (After being die hard Samsung tv buyers) I wanted the QSymphony feature soo badly so we got the Q990C to go with it! I do love the soundbar, but I’d do anything to trade the 65Q90C for a 75/85” Bravia 7/9 or even the 75/85” QM8! (Also have the 2023 Qm7 tcl.). I think Samsung really blew it with their Q85/90 models for 2024! I believe our Q90C is an Ads panel which I do like better than the VA version. 🎉

This to is just great, the HisenseU8N is overly hyped. A quick reality check in a store will make you realise that both the Bravia 7 and the U8N are subpar in built and performance. QN90C is NOT IPS. Its ADS-PRO. D OLED has QD-OLED n WOLED. The ADS-PRO is NOT ADS/ or IPS. 😊😅 ADS PRO has--2X contrast ratio of ADS. It has Full Gloss screen. ADS-pro has 600hz screen refresh rate. N ADS- 144hz cap screen refresh rate. 180 degree visual . It looks identical to QD-OLED. I have SEEN QN90C n Hisense U8K 75” in person. Once u have seen ADS-PRO u will think VA is half tier down. Its that crazy . Its too new , being thrown around as IPS. Totally under appreciated. 😊😅 Its absolutely premium.
Well what tv would you buy then? Done been screwed by Lg c7 oled. Lasted 1.5 years $1600.00
It's your fault for letting it burn in. You are supposed to turn on the OLED-care features. I always make sure I never go above 30 percent brightness on my LG C8.
Is the grid visible on blue content normal in this kind of TVs? Or is it a problem?
Polarized sunglasses affect which screen size model they choose
Do the 43 and 50 inches of qn90D series, have different panel than the bigger displays of qn90D - without antireflection coating and worse viewing angle (like last years qn90c)?
in europe, absolutely yes, in the US i think so too, smaller size ones are a classic for samsung to Pack the VA panel in, with bgr layout too
Would it be possible to do a video (assuming its video worth) of why some monitors will give support for higher res + higher framrate but not a lower res.
I will buy a QN90D today, 75 inches. Will it be worth it?
How is it? Thinking about buying the same modell.
Hopefully can review LG QNED91 2024 soon, thanks
Whats better qn90d or qm851g?
Do you guys have a review for the new g60d Samsung oled?
Not yet! But we’ve purchased it!
Why do you guys call the screen simi-gloss? It's not, it's a gloss screen. You guys said the same about the Sony X93L. When I seen it at Best Buy it had a gloss screen just like my QN90A.
Still waiting for the Bravia 9

I wanted to love them because of their versatility o as it relates to HDR formats , price and reported performance, but the side by side comparison was day/night for me.
I have the QN90B, and the phone app to autocalibrate sets local dimming to low on SD and standard on HDR. It looks pretty good to me.
please share your picture settings, i have same tv. But my phone doesn't support autocalibrate app
@@syncwork I wound up buying a refurbished Galaxy S10e from A'zon specifically to calibrate the tv. It was pretty cheap actually. I'll try and post my settings, but not sure if YT will delete it or not... I usually have troubles with big comments, especially if more than 1 paragraph.
The app calibrated SDR to 150 nits, but I found it to be a bit dim, so I upped it to 200 nits. I read you can go p to 300 nits on SDR, but even at 250 nits, it was starting to show blooming. 200 nits is the sweet spot for me.

@@syncwork well I tried sharing the SDR as well, but it got deleted/blocked(?). I wound up getting a refurbished phone for cheap specifically to calibrate. Maybe that's why the message got deleted... I mentioned where I bought it(?).
@@syncwork Let's try the SDR again. BTW, I should have mentioned both SDR and HDR were calibrated for 'Movie', and SDR was set to 200 nits. The app defaults to 150 nits, but it was a little dim for me still, even though I watch in the dark. You can go up to 300 its on SDR, but even at 250 nits, I had blooming. 200 was the sweet spot for me. Also, just note that although these are the settings for 'my' tv, your screen may be different. Best to invest in a cheap refurbished phone and tripod. They're cheaper than an actual calibration tool, and it doesn't need software.

Thanks Abby and rtings!
Thank you for watching! 😄
Sounds like the 2023 Samsung qn90c is much better in most categories. And much less expensive now.
the C is ips so dont know
@turbojobo that's the reason I don't have one.otherwise it's good.
QN90C is NOT IPS. Its ADS-PRO.
D OLED has QD-OLED n WOLED. The ADS-PRO is NOT ADS/ or IPS.
😊😅
ADS PRO has--2X contrast ratio of ADS.
Its absolutely premium. The can NOT do ADS-PRO this year because they are SUEing the company BOE that produce that ADS-PRO screen for copy right. So ONLY Hisense can use it now for U9N , UX. 😊
It's the other way around... The QN90D is better than QN90C in most categories
@@FERKILL377 depends. S90C is VERY dim in my opinion(for my room) . Its like iphone XS level dim. Or slightly higher by like 100nits. QN90C is like iphone 15-PRO level bright.
So depends the user case. Its a toss S90C or QN90C.
A 2017 iphone XS will still look Significanlty LESS clear day time comparing my 2023 Ipad-PRO with the”M2 “ chip(same M2 chip in the MAC-PRO). --that ipad is MINI LED>
Day time the Dim image just looks Dull/Goo. Especailly in mid off summer.
Depends where the person live n their user case. If they live in sunny stage, they have kids, home early. They work at home, they have wife home early or all day, they retired always home. The QN90C is MUCH better. Because elders go to bed early.
If ppl who are single n actually renting a basement etc or watch tv mostly at night. S90C is better choice.
Also Eyes has Cons--pick out Colors. 6 million cons each 👀, Rods for picking Black-white image, 120 Million rods each eye 👁️. In day time CONS operates the MOST . So the COLOR Volume n brightness matter MOST to human eyes. At night the Cons are NOT effective as RODS. So the Black/blooming are more obvious. D BEST way to watch tv is day time not too bight n have con trolled room with bright tv n --extremely high dense color tv (U8K or U8N , QN90D…) than watch tv /play video game in Pitch Black.
In pitch black the eyes that sensitive to black n white are more dominant. The cons that can pick out color are like secondary.
Yeah S90C n QN90D can be BETTER/Worse depends WHAT type of content watching in What environment n what time of day/room. :P
🤟🏻🫶🏻👀 Science ….I PHD professor actual research Scientist taught us in Toronto canada 🇨🇦
Hisense U8N will look SIGNIFICANTLY better than G3 G4. 3.5X times DENSE color Volume over bright image.
Yet again Samsung have failed to provide the one esential audio format for me DTS.
Will they ever support it ?
Thankfully Sony do, but at a price.
I have the same problem, i collect movies and most of them have dts audio, i dont want to re-encode all the dts audios...Do you know good alternative (55inch, mini led)? Sony is extremely overpriced.
@@ADZTerrarium The only option i can think of is the TCL QM8 but it's performance is not as

In my opinion, Samsung used to make good TVs, now it's just a parody and only faults, I prefer 10000000 times Sony TVs, they don't have the same problems as Samsung. Samsung is over, it's not the same brand it used to be

@@markpolo7 Very True, Sony have always been a cut above the rest.
Here in the UK they come with a Sony 5 year Warranty, and chances are you will never
need it.
Samsung and LG have lost the art of making reliable sets, i see more of them on my bench
than any other. you can guess what the fault will be before trying to remove the back which is held
on by brittle clips that snap.
How to calibrate colour at home?
We use a calibration tool and software. So it can be hard to replicate it at home.
@@RTINGSdotcom but can one manually input these values you found?
This might be a stupid question but once we press the power button on remote, can we immediately unplug the TV?
I came from a Sony TV, and the Sony TV needed us to hold the power button to shutdown the TV. This is not available for Samsung TV
What?
If samsung can make a tv like this without black smearing. I would not buy an oled.
How do you perform calibration? Using smart calibration from samsung or some external professional device, like xrite?
We use dedicated tools and software to calibrate our displays!
thank you Hisense. its a shame you're not on Brazil. We have to pay premium to get a somewhat decent TV or get the best.
They dont sell in Brazil ???? Maybe there is restrictions of HIGH import tax from Mexico?
I am in Canada, I have to pay 1.5X of Americans. Ppl in EU have to pay 2-2.3X of Americans for Hisense its crazy.
If only they would get rid of the ads for such an expansive TV. And the spying. And Tizen OS. I was really close on getting one.
As a long time LG OLED user. I actually prefer Tizen in 2024 on my s95d. Easier menus, don’t need to login to an account, and faster response than LG
Just don't connect it to the internet and use a separate streaming device. Won't that fix those concerns (minus Tizen)?
@@EhNothing, I thought about a setting up Raspberry Pi 5 with Kodi, but would the video quality be as good for Netflix/UA-cam/Prime as when done on the TV itself?
SONY , LG, PANASONIC , PHILIPS, allmoust Everyone have a better processing than samsung ! Even Old Sony tv Like X900f have better low quality content treatment!
This is very true, I have the qn90b great tv, but you get lots of macro blocking on lower quality content. Samsung really needs improve their lower quality content smoothing.
