How big is your standard TBR Stack? Do you keep it tight or let it grow until you don't even remember what is still un-read? Do you put un-read comics to your comics cabinet if it is un-read, or do you have a separate shelf for them?
Anything that hasn't been read in is a box somewhere waiting to be read. It will go on the shelf after it has been read unless I know I'm not going to revisit it. I'm actually new to comics and manga anyway so I've brought a lot of things all at once.
I used to have a lot of unread books, but stopped buying any more for about two years. Now I read all my books "immediately", because I got so much anxiety of having a big chunk of unread books on the shelves. There are of course exceptions from the rule, Montress actually being one of them. I did read the first OHC, but decided to wait on reading the second one until the whole series is finished at some point. So, not all is read "immediately". I would estimate at least 95 % of my books are read. I re-organize my shelves maybe twice a year, until then I put them where it's empty shelf space.
@@marcspectororamijakelockle7232 I'm trying to stop buying as well. I read science fiction and fantasy ,I have history books and for the last few years I've started getting into comics for the first time. I have boxes everywhere and it's out of hand. It's my own fault being single at the moment. I've got nobody to tell me off! 🤣🤣🤣
@@thehound9638 Oh, welcome to the hobby then! :) It's a curse to be single and nobody nagging at you :D to be serious though, budgeting is what I would recommend. It's hard but necessary. Especially if you're new to the hobby, then you wanna dive into everything at once :)

Great to see you back. For what it's worth, a 30 minute video is about the limit of my tolerance for watching UA-cam. I am 56. I can do one hour long podcast, or watch a 3 hour movie - but UA-cam starts to drag after 30 minutes I think. I loved Flight of the Raven and the Reprieve. It's heartbreaking to see how far the series has continued with no further English translations. I was fortunate to purchase it before it got crazy expensive. PTSD was also very enjoyable and makes me curious about Frontier. I've long wanted to read Love and Rockets but as has been mentioned, it's an enormous oeuvre and hard to know where to begin. I have yet to finish Largo, although I own the first 12 issues. Always enjoy your enthusiasm. Ahoy from Virginia - I will now get back to my own vertical TBR Stack. I was surprised to see you mention Irmina. I found this at my local library and was mesmerized by it. Berlin I have recommended to anyone who will read it as it explains in very relatable way why the Fascists were appealing to rational middle class Germans - it is so easy to demonize them from afar. That is to say, I am not in anyway condoning Fascism, but I am fascinated with considering historical events with the moral quandaries of that historical period instead of applying our current evolved moral compass to the past. We are now faced with similar pressures to polarize in the US and so I was really impacted by Berlin's perspective from the beginning of the war. In addition, I understand Jason Lutes researched the architecture of Berlin before it was flattened by World War II bombing, so his illustrations are revealing a city that was once glorious and no longer exists - a real form of time travel.
We're on the same page with running time. Below 30 mins is actually my goal from the start these days. Makes life easier for me also. I'm just not good at it yet😑Having said that with my European comics history videos I don't think about the length. Flight of the Raven in Europe is now 100€ second-hand. It has to be good if it sells with that price! Too much for me though. Not sure if the price is as high in USA. PTSD looks very interesting. I learned about it only bc I was looking for more info about Frontier. All the channels I trust on these matters say you can start Love&Rockets anywhere. The format and volume I chose here seemed to me like the safest bet. I'll have another book from the other brother at some point as they seem to be very different. I'm planning to talk more about Largo Winch very soon. You're take on Berlin is pretty much what I'm waiting to get out of it. Seeing the life through the eyes of people who lived then is the history window I want to look through. I don't see the value of Presentism(rating the history by todays standards). Well, it does make funny stand-up. Understanding regular people in history gives important lesson about us humans and humanity. Should help us today to avoid repeating the same mistakes. As you pointed out about the situation in your country this lesson never gets old. Lutes got into this amazing project through his fascination on architecture! Thanks for such a great comment🤘
I feel the same way about Monstress. I have volumes 6, 7, and 8 unread but need to reread it all from the beginning. Singelin's previous comic PTSD was excellent - I really want to get this one! Also a L&R newbie with several of the unread paperbacks, but I have read lots of Chris Ware and adore his work. Very melancholy and pathetic, heart-rending, but incredibly well crafted. My TBR pile has become a shameful mountain with more than 200 collected editions. I've read much less in the past three years since having children, but my buying habits and deal hunting hasn't changed much.
200 collected editions in tbr-pile😳I do understand how children will make you focus on other things. I had the same. I don't regret at all giving so much time to my son and now that he's already moved out I'm back to comics like nothing happened. It was also fun to share some comics fandom with my son. He was heavily into Bone and Don Rosa Ducks. Now seeing Frontier I got interested about PTSD. I already saw quite many good reviews about it too.
Excited to see you read Love & Rockets for the first time. The tpb you have is perfect. The same format for Mechanics or Locas, the stories by Jaime Hernandez about Maggie and Hopey, which I've preferred since I began reading L & R. in the early 80's. Brilliant stories. A booktuber just read Berlin. I noticed it on his bookshelf and I commented in his video. We chatted in the comments and he decided to read it. He loved it. It's excellent, I enjoyed it very much. Irmina is new to me. Glad you highlighted it. The Reprieve and Flight of the Raven. I like romance, and Reprieve didn't disappoint. Best to you from Texas.
Thanks. Tpb felt like the easiest way to jump in now as the series has been running for so many years. It's a bit like with Hellboy: Those who jump in now get Omnibuses that have stories arranged into chronological order but as an early reader I got to read the stories as they came out jumping back and forth in timeline. BTW I used to confuse L&R with Strangers in Paradise in comic book stores. It tells how little attention I paid to these books. Berlin/Irmina combo makes me anxious to get through the last Largo Winch album ASAP. Last time I checked Flight of the Raven was over 100€ as second-hand😢Then there's Gibrats' Matteo that is not available in English but interests me already. Now seeing the art in The Reprieve with my own eyes I'd like to read Matteo too. Just saw from the morning news there's a hurricane brewing up in Gulf of Mexico. Stay safe🤘
@@analogcomics Thank you. Fortunately for us the hurricane isn't coming our way, but I do live near the water, so it's an anxiety we live with. Flight of the Raven over 100 euros? Wow! It's risky getting an omni for something one hasn't read. What if you don't like it and all that money was spent? Hope you enjoy Heartbreak:)
I personally liked Guillaume Singelin's previous "PTSD" book before I participated in "Frontier" kickstarter - and Guillaume at least did character design for "Citizen Sleeper."
I forgot to mention PTSD! Good thing that got sorted out. Thanks. I did see a kickstarter page briefly for Frontier but as I already got my copy coming in I didn't focus on that detail. Had to look up Citizen Sleeper. Looks exactly like something Singelin could draw. And the game itself sounds like an interesting idea. These day I've avoided most video games though as they are way too long for me.
Love the playful Chris Ware stuff. However, didn’t read much text as this is probably not his strongest point anyway :). Seeing your shirt you might have a blast with the very reasonable priced Alien: The Blueprints, 2019. Cheers
I don't think Ware expects people to read all that minuscule text on book ends but it seemed like there's a lot of tongue-in-cheek stuff there so I'm intrigued. That Blueprint book looks amazing! I saw similar cut-outs and schematics for Star Wars ships when I was much younger and they enchanted me. I thought it was remarkable that there are blueprints for imaginary vehicles. I tried to replicate those ships with my Legos. Good times! Just like these blueprints I like T-shirts of imaginary companies from movies. They're like a secret hand shake with those who know. I got three from Alien franchise.
