  • A busy December afternoon in 1993 sees crash damage replacement 37s
    37521 and 668 at the head of the Burngullow to Irvine clay slurry.
    Next 47807 departs with the 1114 Plymouth to manchester.
    A glimpse at Bath Road with 37097 passing by.
    Next 37892 arrives with the Fawley to Tavistock junction fuel oil for laira depot.
    More Bath Road with 47703 and 47630.
    Finally we see 31130 and 31304 being rescued by 37012 on the Bridgewater to sellafield Nuclear Flask service. 4 flasks on this day...unusual.

    You forgot the 'busy' little 08, with the lads on the Guards van. Smile, it was a different world gone for good. Lovely little video.

    It was pretty funny when those two guys riding in the brake van pushed by a shunter yelled something at the driver -I wonder, were they telling him to get back in his train?

    Nice! It was also neat to see quite a few brakevans, espcially when most were withdrawn in the 1970s!

      You should upload your clip of the 37 leaving Whitehaven in the rain.....
      Two 37s on the Berkley Flask. Im contemplating popping up but the better shot is when they go down the branch to Sharpness to run round. Weather is a bit grey.

    I didn't see any "radioactive" placards on the (or they weren't obvious). Were these empty?

    • @dubsy1026
      @dubsy1026 6 років тому +1

      Scott M Stolz well they wouldn't pose any kind of danger unless opened, so there's no reason for them to be there.

    I spent an hour at BTM on 4th Sept 2018 - how the place has the changed.
    The Post Office building has been stripped so is now just a concrete shell awaiting demolition and the associated infrastructure has been removed from the north end of the platforms. The Bath Road depot site is in the process of being re developed with a large crane being assembled.
    On a positive note, the new Class 800s were in service (although my train was swapped for a HST) as were the displaced Class 166s (Thames Turbos as they used to be called) from the Thames Valley.
    On the whole, the station now seems OTT for the traffic - short length Class 220/221s, 158s, 166s with the HST/800s displaced to Platforms 13&15 (I'm sure the London bound HSTs used to call at Platofrm 3).

      I took a trip to Swindon on the 8th. I prayed for a HST but was stuck with an 800. Back in the day I worked in an office in that building overlooking bath road. It was quite hard to work! It was when the 25,s and 31,s were arriving to replace the hydraulics

      Hello Mark, I was a Shunter at Stoke Gifford, and then at Pz. I transferred back to Bristol Bath Rd in 1985 as a Guard, and worked Bristol trains into Padd regularly, every time into No 1.

    Here in the usa its illegal for us to film a loaded nuke flask train

    • @MrStapletonRoad
      @MrStapletonRoad  6 років тому +3

      That would be a hard one to Police. Thanks for taking a look.

    • @Tom-Lahaye
      @Tom-Lahaye 6 років тому +6

      That's a rule that makes no sense at all, someone wanting to do something still can write down when/where/what composition the train is and quickly spread that via social media, there are exact models of the nuclear flask wagons itself and plenty of footage online or aired on TV where these wagons are put to the test.
      Is the same as taking pictures of military trains, why should it be illegal to photgraph an Abrams M1 tank from the outside while there are very accurate model kits you canbuy showing every detail on them?
      Stupid rules from the past when we didn't have internet or always a camera with us on the phone.

      It’s getting the same now here in Britain, we’re unable to film lots of things, and old Ladies getting arrested for feeding pigeons, and sex grooming gangs not even investigated.
