EFREN REYES v Rodney Morris $25,000

- Rodney's powerhouse break, silky-smooth stroking and great cue ball control are a pleasure to watch. He's 25 years-old here, hugely talented, trying to defeat Reyes and win the title and the $25,000 prize money. Reyes is very despondent, thus playing poorly knowing his father is severely ill (father died a week later).Tan cloth and chalk because it features 1996 Camel tour players. Be sure to also watch THIS amazing Efren Reyes match: • *Magical* EFREN REYES ...

Rodney is a class act a good person and a great player I love to watch him play so fluid makes it look so easy pure stroke.
absolutely amazing how Rodney play back in the day!
Rodney won 25k Dollars. When they met for rematch Efren beat Rodney & Efren won with half million dollars.
Vintage Rodney . One of the most feared players of that time . If heard a lot of great Rodney stories
whoa. that's a serious mullet
nycjin816 lmao that’s what I said
Thanks, Ray,,,,
Ray makes it happen, great video!
Rocket Rodney Morris, is 🔥a good Hawaiian Brother... Awesome pool player & great friend 💯
You got that right! Played him a few times in Hawaii in the mid-'80s and '90s.
Efren is a consummate pro. Almost anyone else would've postponed the match.
I was wondering why efren was messing up so much, but then i read the description and it made so much more sense
You'll already know, Chris, that when a world-class performer in any worthwhile endeavor (sports, music, drama, visual arts, chess) is *_way off *_** on a given day, there is *always* a revelatory underlying reason.
are they playing on a Brunswick centennial? such a beautiful table. always loved the art deco style on this and the anniversary tables
+Salesman Gold Crown III
I hate to see efren lose. But knowing he got the call prior to the match saying his dad was terminaly Ill i can understand why he lose here
Very empathetic and simpatico of you to express that human aspect of the match result. Thanks for the very thoughtful comment.
They are both very excellent players
Efren Bata Reyes was not on his game here. Rodney Morris was on his game in pool today. But still enjoy to watch them play. Whether they mess up or not. I love to play against either one of these players. Even though I would get whipped bad. Be fun to say I played against them. And get there autograph and picture of me with them. What a joy or honor that will be. But doubt that will ever happen. But I can dream can't I now????🎱
Reyes was very despondent (sad and totally distracted) playing poorly because he had just learned that his father in the Philippines was severely ill -- his father died a week later.
ray carlton : I knew his dad died. I just didn't know it as this close to the pool tournament here is all. Thanks for the input there. 🎱
Rex: You would have to have read the description (immediately under the "Published on . . . " ) to know. About half of Anglo-phonic viewers jump right into the vid without reading that. Perfectly natural.
Nice
rodney was smooth! efren pretty much gave up on the last rack. he could've made that 1 but he just didn't have the mental energy to keep going anymore. his thoughts were of his dad that day. not to take away from rodney though -- he's a solid player
Efren is the best ever... GOAT!
kangen!!!!! lama kgk maen bilyard
+abraham malik alawi . . . Klaatu barada nikto
+ray carlton yes,i like this pool bilyar
Parah Parah
I just clicked on this video to see Rodney's old stroke; pause, slow and loosely fire the cannon.
Greenhorn88 Good look, left hand on the “Balance Point “ too
I wonder if the camel-colored cloth had anything to do with Efren missing so much.
Take a minute to read the Description if you will, Ed. Every few months a mis-characterization about nerves & pressure, or cloth color, affecting Efren's playing that day, innocently but wrongly comes up. *Efren was totally despondent and playing poorly, having just received the news that his father was severely ill back home.* Efren felt obligated to play the match as scheduled, then flew back home to be at his dad's bedside with the rest of the family. Sadly, his father died a week later.
ray carlton billiards ● OK, thanks! You're correct. I hadn't read the description. Having played pool since the mid-60's, I've played on different colored cloth. I played once on a table covered in a deep-red cloth (more like a maroon). I found that one to be the hardest to get used to.
As a fan of Efren it saddens me to see him play this badly
Thank you Ray!
Rodney Morris was a great player
Today sep 15 nice play pool
This should be good!
What meucci is efren useing??
Take 5 minutes, John, and go to to meuccicues.com and click on their Contact/questions option.
They'll have the authoritative answer. Bob Meucci (cuemaker) himself will remember (be sure to mention the name of this tourney and its date). Few viewers would have this kind of specific info from 25 years ago.
I think is the color of the table. Have it been green, efferent would play better!
Rodney kicks bad or he'd be unstoppable.
All pros are stoppable. If that wasn't the case, then the same player would win every tournament that he/she entered.
great game however Efren's had a couple of bad position's as professional player
Just before the game started Efren received a call from the Philippines informing him that his father was extremely ill. That's the reason he was playing badly -- he was unable to concentrate. His father died a week later.
Reyes is nervious

Great players don't get nervous you might not get that...super shooting doesn't make you great..Great shooting with courage makes one great
lol no
Rodney played pretty well. Efren played the worst I think he ever played in the 1990s. Some have said he was inclined to choke in finals. I never really believed that, but the way he played here makes me wonder.
It all came down to the Break. Efren's just wasnt working on this match and Rodney's was. Rodney played great
This is a good excuse can be said for every game played.
utay
+timothybolshaw: Read the description - apparently, Efren's father was dying during this tournament. His head, understandably, was with his family....
During his "prime" years, he would be the one player I would choose without hesitation to represent me were my life on the line. And I am sure I would not be alone in that choice.
Do you think Efren holds back a little bit in tournaments?
Bobby: Take a minute to read the page-top Description if you will. Efren was totally despondent and playing poorly, having just received the news that his father was severely ill back home Efren felt obligated to play the match as scheduled, then flew back home to be at his dad's bedside with the rest of the family. Sadly, his father died a week later.
Efren can’t win them all.

@@raycarltonbilliards5798 I didn’t know that! Thank You, I know his father passed away, just wasn’t sure of when. Very sorry for your loss Efren. I’m without a father also and I know what it means to lose one.
