The young players in Philippines are so good now that they give Reyes weight. I play with some guys who have played him back home, and they are crazy good.
They give him weight because he’s old now. Also, getting as good as Efren back in the 80s and 90s is way harder back then because they didnt have the knowledge, equipment, and competition as we do now.

Players from this era were a lot more brash. This was a time before the internet and cell phones. These guy's were hardened road players playing is real dodgy joints befitting of the pool hall stereotype of the time. Today's players are much more sterilized as are the professional tournaments of today.

That 15$ cue efren used is actually a $10 cue which his friend ceaser morales gave him when he was coming to the US. Ceaser morales was also the name efren used during his first apperences in the US
Keith McCready has the worst stroke fundamentals. Arm kicked out like a chicken wing. Moves all over the place. Doesnt stay down on the shot. He was talented no doubt to play that well with terrible fundamentals. Means every shot in some way requires compensation/adjustment...a little like Mike Sigel. He also sports the hit it hard enough and something will drop approach. He lucked a few shots this match. Sets a terrible example for beginners who learn by watching! It is impossible to cut a ball less than ninety degrees. Therefore, it is not a foul. Keith even said so himself.
When a ball flies off the table, it's spotted. Note though McCready didn't have ball in hand. Had to shoot behind the kitchen line. This was 1988. I believe today the ball would still be spotted but the next shooter would have ball in hand. I believe.

His style was a bit too aggressive for tournament play imo just because if you miss those really difficult shots for half an hour , you could be out of the tournament. He was certainly one of the most fun people to watch and might make any shot at any time , so he was very dangerous as an opponent.
