I'm pretty noobish, but sometimes I watch tutorials like this even though they are far beyond my knowledge and capabilities at the moment, just to see what's eventually possible. Very inspiring. Thank you.
@@drac800 trust me. I’ve trained this stuff since it was invented. Go and try it now. BEFORE you think you are ready. Do it on a sphere if needed. Come back and tell me how that felt!
Now that’s how you do a tutorial! Awesome...doing it “the hard way” as you did here has a nice handcrafted & organic look. No one else will ever have feathers quite like those. ✌️🍺🎩
So would I. I just like pushing things as far as I can in new mediums. Then when I want to use them in production it seems easy lol this is definitely NOT how I make feathers fir mist Jobs. lol
This was a fantastic surprise after a rubbish week at work! Brilliant video, Glen - I know a lot of people from the group forum have been waiting for this one! Can’t wait to try it out this weekend! 👍
Excellent video! I'll be sure to share my bird I am making. This helped tremendously. I originally tried an insert mesh brush on Zbrush, but the poly count was absurd. I ofc have Nomad as well, I'll have to try this. Thanks!
Holly! I found your channel and i am really impressed. You rock! I am starting on sculpting so i will be looking into this a lot. Thanks for sharing, man.
Beautiful work Glen! I've been working on an Owl model for some time now trying to come up with a nice solution for the feathers. I'm going to give this technique a shot, it looks like it will fit the bill nicely. Thank you as always for the great content!
Hi Glen. I'm loving your tutorials on your website. I would buy a Gravity Sketch course for the iPad. I haven't given it time to figure it out. Also I never really got into the VR version because I couldn't find good learning resources- and its a bit hard to follow a video in VR- but iPad is different.
I’m working on that right now and I’ll be honest it’s not easy. I was lucky enough to be using the ipad software in beta but it is a very different creation environment than the VR interface. It uses things like ribbons and have not surface patches or sub d. At first, I will be producing tutorials free on UA-cam rather than an ipad course. I’m writing the FULL gravity sketch course now and I’ll add an ipad section.
is there a way to have a “feather plane” and/or blanket of feathers that could be generic, then wrapped around the sculpture areas of need? Also, I would think the pinch tool could be good way to pull into inside curves and inflate to outside curves as well.
Hi! Your nomad sculpt videos made me very interesting in using it. Sadly I've decided to buy a surface a year ago 🙄 But since MS changed the pencil Api it's quasi useles for creative processes now. So I'm playing with the thought to get an iPad for using this. Even because there are a lot of creativity software for Ipad like procreate eg. So my question: What ipad are you using? Which one should I get to create stuff without stress? Which one is on top / which one is best budget to work with? I never ever had an apple. Thanks.
This looks amazing .. I really wanna try it too! But Im using an Ipad pro 12.9 (1st gen) and I'm quite concerned about trying to sculpt something like that, cause I'm afraid it might Crashes.
Hello brother, Can I make engineering models in nomad sculpt for example cycle, gears, etc for explaining in 3D Please reply .. I recently downloaded nomad sculpt but unable to understand . Any course for same.....
You can do some very cool hard surface, low poly work with Nomad. But it’s not really designed for that, and is not the best choice. It’s ideal for sculpting.✌️🍺🎩
Although I find your videos very informative, I find the constant tapping of the pencil/stylus to the tablet a bit distracting. Maybe it's just me but I couldn't get very far into this one.
Im fairly new to no mad but what a time is this taking I’m already 5 hrs and only a small part done 🤣 I did un-group them and then try to regroup them, plz don’t do that it wil cost u 30 min of clicking😭
It took me a little longer than planned as I wanted to test it a few times but here's how i've been making feathers in nomad recently.

Its amazing how far you take this tool. I think if I was going this high-end in a project, I would just go to the computer. Well done.

It’s a fair amount of work, but less than I would have thought, and the end result looks awesome!
the first time ive ever ruffled some feathers and enjoyed the outcome!
Seeing you shape the plane. When Nomad has a Zmodeller brush- that would be game changing for me.
Imagine!

One of the most talented guy on UA-cam, much appreciated his work and efforts for us. Liked and subscribed on the spot 👌

Getting Skekis/Brian Froud vibes from this. I’m just learning how to sculpt and I really want to do animals/dragons. The tutorials help :)
Your timing was ideal mate as I have just started a vulture sculpt today :)
Well I’d say your timing was better lol.
@@SouthernGFX hahaha you might just be right there :D
Incredible tutorial! I am planning on buying your ipad sculpting course tonight and I am super excited to dive in and start learning!
Each video is helping more and more, thanks!
Thank you so much for the tutorials
Great In-depth Tutorial🔥...Thanks Glen👍
Brilliant! Thanks for posting! Can’t wait to try this out.
Just fantastic! Thanks for sharing this technique.
Thanks Glenn!
What a great tutorial, thanks a lot
holy shiet, this is what i called patience, ur damn good
This looks great! Really curious about how you managed to get that scaled texture, is there a video tutorial for that?

It’s fine. You just can’t go super high res when you voxel remesh
That’s smart 👌🏻
gj! thank you
No problem
Don’t forget the shafts or the slight down on some feathers and do some downy feathers (feather expert)
that's nomadness.
This same method could do fur. Thank you.
Just to be helpful- I can hear when you hit your tablet with the pencil, it seems very loud to me.

so simple merge is now called "joined"??
very good but just need to put texture
100% agree. It’s in my top 5 requests after a retop and UV solution. No point in textures without the first two. Fingers crossed
