Basic itself is easy and simple. The hardest battle of it is within your own head and the peers your with thru it. The best advise I can give is to be proud to be a US Soldier no matter which branch, wear it with pride, but also do not be the best at basic and do not be last just blend to the crowd forreal. One last thing, do what my father told me whom is a former Gunnery SGT of the USMC, "shut the fuck up and do as your told to the best of your abilities"

How was basic training? I mean is it hard lol and whats after basic training? I’m kind of nervous about up leaving my first apartment and job but I also want to do more with my life and stuff can you help me out by explaining little more of your experience I know everybody is different
Basic training is not easy but you will look back like damn I did that , its been 7 years for me since then. After basic you got to AIT basically you start training up for your MOS (Job that u picked ), great benefits if you know how to use it. stepping stone. you can travel depends on your job and duty stations. but its worth it. At the end of the day its different for everyone.

question man, so do you need to completely shave you're face during basic training and be constantly shaving you're head while in basic training ?
You’ll have days too get hair cuts and yes you will shave often unless you have a shaving profile
As far as getting your hair cut, that will probably be at least 2 or maybe 3 times. You will pay money for it. I don't think you are allowed to shave your head during basic, although I did it myself with a razor during the last two weeks of basic and no one said anything to me about it.

@@Dragox-mh8fb not everyone get a bonus it depends if they meet all the requirements but it’s says 50k for enlisting but no everyone gets a bonus also some people get bonus with whatever MOS they choose “if they get what they want” so you could possibly get a 50k for enlisted plus a sign on bonus in what ever amount they are offering, also there’s a thing called a 40k fast ship out bonus, I know right it’s ridiculous

bro how many days off they gave you after basic training?
After basic training, you're shipped off to AIT to learn your army job, you're family can pick you up and drive you there if its close by, but if it's far, you'll have to take a bus or plane to it. If you're doing bootcamp during the end of the year august between december, you can get what's called holiday block leave, which is two weeks off to see your family. If you're national guard, or reserve, you go straight home after AIT. My advice to anyone joining, don't bring a bag to reception, more useless stuff to carry around, and they'll just make you buy all that stuff again, and don't buy those reception pictures they try to sell you! Because if you're fat, you're going to be skinny as hell by the end of basic, which means you're reception pictures won't look like you that comes out of bootcamp.

@vossinnicucal5138 army still pays you during holiday block leave, you also get a small refund from your dfac deduction because your not there using it. You can choose to not go home on holiday block leave, n save those leave days for later. If you're broke for some dumb reason n want to go home n visit, and are National guard, you can get a small loan which you pay back by working for free at your local recruiter station during that leave you take during basic or AIT. It's usually during AIT people spend all their money on Facebook marketplace or getting apple watches n tattoos etc, so they got no monies.

So either choice, you win.

The day you ship to basic training you start getting paid you won’t receive your first paycheck until week 2 of BCT. But while you are training you won’t need to spend money on anything for those 10 weeks other than your bills back home

@@josephjohnson3641 If you join the Air Force instead of the Army, nobody will be mad at you at all. A lot more of us would have joined the Air Force especially if we had known that if you aint married you can move out the barracks by E4 (or even E3) vs E6 or ( maybe in some cases E5 ) in the Army.

Did you qualify for any sign on bonuses? Or do they lie about that
Bonuses are mostly MOS dependent
Bonuses when you join are also taxed, so you don't get all of it.
And if you get something over ten thousand dollars, it'll only be paid out in increments over time. You won't get all of the untaxed part at once
Also keep in mind that for a lot of jobs with bonuses.....there is a reason WHY they are offered.. . obviously because they want more people.........but they want more people because they cant keep people..... probably because they job really really sucks. Especially for things like cook.
@@naitthegr8131 That's not always true. 68W (medic) has a bonus rn, and it's the biggest MOS in the entire Army. Some MOS's are hard to qualify for like 17C so they want to encourage the people that do qualify to get it.
