I moved to the USA 🇺🇸 almost 8 years ago and I tried every year to join but I always failed the ASVAB due to a lack of knowledge and English was my fifth language. TODAY I AM proud to say after 9 years I become a soldier some dreams come true as long as you don't give up on them. Perseverance is the key to success
So for those who are saying they are on their way to BCT soon…you got this. While it may not seem like it, the drill sergeants are there to make sure you don’t fail. But you can make it way easier on yourself if you spend some time before going working on your mind and body. Things like the soldiers creed, the Army song, drill and ceremonies, etc. are all over the internet. Read them, watch the videos, get a veteran to help you and be the one who gets it right the first time. For your body, same thing. The videos on how to do the exercises and the events of the ACFT are right here on UA-cam. Put in the work BEFORE you get to BCT. I went to basic for the first time in 1982 - infantry OSUT at Ft. Benning. I did 16.5 years for reserve retirement and then got out. 22 years later, I decided to rejoin the National Guard and finish my 20 years. But they made me go back to BCT at Jackson…at the age of 57. I did everything I’m telling you to do now because the Army I rejoined was VERY different from the one I left. I had everything memorized by the time I arrived, I smoked my first ACFT (beating 3/4s of the company on the 2 mile run), and the drill sergeants pretty much left me alone. If I could do it at almost 60, I PROMISE YOU YOU CAN DO IT NOW!
I was a string bean when I joined out of highschool. I was a runner for athletics. That helped immensely. My upper body was never that great, strengthwise. I can guarantee that by the end of basic, my whole body was in its strongest form. I learned that the mental aspect determines whether the intensity will conquer you. It is a mental game to evolve massively in such a short period of time. The battle buddy system... use it! Things can be absolutely daunting and having support can save you from a fear driven and impulsive exit. Stick with it. It can be a great foundation for the remainder of your career, no matter where you wind up.
The series everyone is looking for is called Ten Weeks (2020), a roku documentary that was available for Free to be streamed online. It was even on youtube for a bit, but I can't find anywhere to watch it anymore. Even Roku says its Unavailable. Weird because I would even pay to watch it.
Lucky you only 10 weeks! I did 6 months of basic not including the 3 weeks at 30th or the additional 3 weeks as a holdover for airborne some of the guys spent 4 months as a hold over
Was there in 87. Hasnt changed much in the pictures. Some good memories and some bad ones but it was worth every minute of my time. Do it all again in a second. Desert storm vet.
Wow, went to FT Jackson BCT in Viet Nam era--wooden barracks, obviously some different kind of training here and there, but feelings the same I'm sure about first arriving to reception station, arriving at actual BCT, the shock of it all, going through it, watching some not make it, others excel. Learning to become a Soldier, all the same in the end. You're serving your Country and one of the few 1% who actually do it. Be Proud no matter when you go through or what you did doing it.
While I know this will not mean much to anyone reading this, watching this video just makes me feel like I need to talk about it. 4 1/2 years ago I joined the army and gave up in reception and got sent home and to this day it was my worst regret and I’m now trying to go back. I hope anyone who reads this understands that if you are willing and able to make it there then please never give up on yourself. I could’ve done it back then if I just believed I could and you can too. The pain of discipline, or the pain of disappointment.
Hunter, I believe that people like you make America great. You might also give a look at the Space Force too. It's the new branch of our military. Let me know how things go.
Army Basic Training, is referred to as “Basic Training”, Basic Combat Training, BCT or simply Recruit Training. “Boot Camp” is NOT an Army word. U.S. Army Basic Training has Never been referred to in the Army as “Boot Camp.” “Boot Camp” is Marine Corp / Navy Slang for Basic Training.
This is Summer compared to Fort Benning. Sand Hill is where boys become men, atleast when I went through OSUT before gender integration in Combat Arms.
I will never be able to understand how these people can go to boot camp fat and/or out of shape....most are on delayed entry and just sit and at home and drink monsters and eat pizza....the summer before i went into the Army i lifted weights and did push ups and sit ups every day....i did not run due to being 18 and had never smoked and had about 5 percent body fat...they treat the lead up to boot camp as it were a fast food job and not the most important building block of their lives...
Hi where can we watch this documentary?? I’ve been searching everywhere lol. I leave nov 1 and I’m terrified and want to scare myself more by watching this
Be ready for extended periods of standing, stooping and double timing in boots. Take extra good care of your feet. You'll be just fine. Let me know how it goes.

The should take a note from the Marine corps. No one is equal. Some of you are high speed. Some can’t move across the face of the planet appropriately. You’re not there for the trophy. You’re there to learn how to stay out of a forever box and to take blood from the bad guys and keep blood in the good guys. The new PT test is shit. GET IN SHAPE BEFORE you go. If you don’t have the motivation to go for three mile runs before you get to basic and gotta go to fat camp then I don’t want you in a fox hole with me.
I'm not familiar with a 12P mos. If what I saw on Google is correct, it's working with electrical power plants. That sounds like a better fit for a soldier with kids than 11B. However, that's just a guess.
If you have 3 kids and a wife I would go with 12p. 11b are going to be in the field training all the time and you’re not going to see you kids as much. I’m only saying this because I was a 19d and we were always in the field.
Dont do 11b, the basic is horrible but when u get to the big army. Its a whole bunch of hurry up and wait. You sit around until a training cycle comes around or deployment which is probably the funnest thing you’ll do during a peace time. Mostly the bonds you make during deployment and memories. Live fires are fun. But it is all based off of where you get stationed after basic training. Im at Fort Carson, which is a retirement base so its full of old ncos who are chill

I’m proud to be your 70th like. I’m a senior in high school, and I enlist next month.
Going to talk to my recruiter this week. Hopefully I pass the test, God wiling I do. Trying to make a better life for my daughter and myself.

Poor guy trying to impress his girlfriends parents.. 😂😂
Everybody wants to look their best.
He’s actually from my hometown which is cool 😂
I know right. He went the extreme route to impress his girlfriend’s parents..i hope he passes BCT
