These are some impressive young men and they're going into 16 Air Assault BCT which is one of the UK's elite quick response/ deployment brigades for immediate international deployment at a few days notice. When people in our country get angry at immigrants, they forget that some of our most fearsome, loyal and hardworking warriors are immigrants - and the British Army is stronger with them than without. Up the Gurkhas and godspeed lads!
Gurkhas are fiercesome in battle. Completely loyal. Only one thing, I really hope they sort their Pension System, and bring it into alignment with the rest of the Armed Forces. They are members of the British forces and should be treated equally. Those Gurkhas will give heart and soul for The Crown so whats the problem?
I do not know 100% if this is correct but I think issue has to do with the value of the pension in relation to cost of living in Nepal when converted to the Nepalese rupee. Given that a large amount of men return home the standard pension value would result in a very high standard of living, not a bad thing i hear you cry, but this has the very serious potential of effecting/destablizing the local economy in areas of Nepal.
@@robertmac8287 But Robert, those proud lads/men are serving over here, working hard to support their families in Napal. They have families in Napal that need their help. The population of Nepal is over 30 million. I do not think a few thousand men joining up, will plunge Nepal into some financial ruin. Nepal is a very beautiful country but it is also one of the poorest in the World. Some places don't even have proper roads into the mountain villages. Yes the are huge problems there.I certainly don't think that a few thousand Gurkhas out of a population of 30 million, should be responsible for stabilising the economy, local or otherwise. Governments are responsible for running countries. All you have to do is look at the Governmn we have here. Plenty of poverty but there will be more. The Brigade of Gurkhas became a part of the British Army, officially. So why not be treated equally. The men they are recruiting will be the most brave and loyal soldiers to be found. They should be paid properly. After all the Gurkhas have been around for 200 years! ,
@@robertmac8287 that is somewhat true but usually these Gurkha soldiers come from families who are living in poor conditions. The money they get tremendously helps their sons and daughters (for example school fees and medical costs)
God bless the Gurkhas. Understand that we are EXTREMELY PROUD of them. Look after these great men and treat them and their families with the respect us the public expect of you.
My grandfather used to be a Gurkha and fought in the Bruneian Revolt. He was going to fight in the Falkland Islands but he was on hold. Fortunately, he was not sent to Falkland Islands. He retired around 1985 or 1986. Thank you grandpa for defending Britain! My grandfather is still alive today at the age of 83! Ayo Gorkhali! 🇳🇵 🇨🇦 🤝 🇬🇧
I love, love watching the Gurkha recruiting videos. They have worked so hard to get there, and remain humble and respectful - but I can tell you from experience; they make incredible soldiers and are as fit as a butchers dog. And, their drill is something to behold. Cracking video this; welcome recruits!
Retired Gurkha here, served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places that I cannot name. Good luck to these young soldiers. Hopefully we won’t be deployed to the streets, but we stand ready to protect people and property, including mosques, as soon as we are ordered to so do. God Bless the King.
My friends live in Pokhara & their street is on one of the main training routes for the pre-selection boot camps...It is incredibly tough training even before selection, Good Luck to all the successful recruits... 🙏🙏🙏
Brings back many memories of the mid 1950s . 2 years National Service - Royal Signals at Catterick - then 15 months in Malaya with the 99th Gurkha Brigade Signals during the Emergency. How things have changed.
Recently renovated all of the Gurkhas barracks nation wide, huge upgrade from what they had previously and proud I could do for them. Thank you for all you do lads
Congratulations! Brings back happy memories of seeing my boy pass-out from training in Catterick. We walked past the Gurkha barracks on the way to the Falklands Centre
I was a TA signaller and Foreign Legion NCO. God bless them and I hope they had the same level of pride I had when I got my green beret and Kepi Blanc. Do they train in the old 11 sigs Helles barracks setup? 245 18***, 165*** . System has hidden an extra asterisk on each number.
Having Ghurkas in the British Army makes me proud , the way our successive governments have treated them and their pension rights and immigration issues makes me ashamed . Nothing but respect for these excellent soldiers from a Retired Royal Marine Commando .
Your political views are not welcome here. Most people in the military are logistics, driving lorries and forklifts not tanks and IFV's. They are just as valuable.
@teddypicker8799 nothing political, so don't know why you answered this way. The gurkas are very respected and I was just sorry that such young men may have to face some difficult times in the world's history. Thank you , I am well aware of many jobs our forces do.
Looks like their english has improved. Worked with quite a lot in Baghdad years ago. A lot could hardly speak english. Better than any UK gen Z snowflakes that we produce. These. Days. They will get the job in hand done. Im Glad Joanna Lumley did and does what she does for them as well. Respect.
Excellent work, well done Chaps! If only the British Army could have an entire Gurkha Division including a dedicated Gurkha Special Forces Regiment. Cheers.👍
It’s a pity Australia doesn’t have a regiment of Gurkhas, they would be quite welcomed in our country, The Australian government should think about recruiting these brave soldiers.
The British public are not that stupid, they would welcome the Gurkhas to fight by their side!, and if you knew anything about them, then you’d know that they have a common enemy with us, and are one with us!
Casio wrist watch ⌚️ was the king in this video ,seeing all soldiers with Casio….wich means is a precision watch for all kind of forces category, time is very precious in a combat situation! Good choice 👍
Saddest thing is no one gives them career advice before they go to their respective regiments. Everyone ive talked to al goes with the whimp/flow.. I would’ve chosen something Cyber Security related or IT related or Engineer or try and become Foreman in RG signals..as much respect I have for RGR post career there is nothing else to do rather than just be a security guard or do menial jobs

We’re very privileged to have these brave soldiers on our side.
What is more amazing about Gorkhas aside from bravery is their gentleness towards ordinary people and loyalty to where they pledge.
Congratulations to each and every Gurkha. Ayo Gorkhali!

What about churches?

As an American, I think our military should recruit Gurkhas. They are very brave people.
Your military have lots of Nepali people now
The Gurkha regiment is comprised of truly fine men. It is an honour for the British Army to have them.
The Gurkhas are a TOP fighting force and deserve the highest respect.👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
