My partner and I both are not vegan, but are subbing out typical dairy products right now. I'm more open minded than he is, so I made an easy all vegan tomato soup and grilled cheeze (violife and chao mix) and he died a little. Said it was better than dairy cheese, so we've officially agreed, no more cheese slices in this house ✊🏼 baby steps!
SO GREAT!!!
That's wonderful! Lauren's Recipes make transitioning a lot easier! Many Blessings & Merry Christmas,
Piper
Those two cheese you named cause a severe rise in inflammatory markers due to being incredibly processed. You're light-years healthier either eating real cheese or making something at home to substitute.
Also same with every product featured on this video. Your body wants natural whole foods minimally processed. Don't buy into this poison.
If you don't believe me. Do your research on how processed foods affect the immune system. May the the most important thing you ever do.
Eat tons of veggies and fruit. Maybe 75- 80% of your diet should be that.
Other than that you need a good, whole protein source. Up to you. Animal protein is fine but inhumane depending on how its sourced or on beliefs. Just don't do seitan. That could have an entire book written on its own. So inflammatory it's insane.
@@GlaciusDreams Bit condescending. I'm fully aware, I have done my research. It is not something that's incorporated into my daily diet. And I'd rather you not get on a vegan channel and tell someone that they're light years healthier just eating dairy cheese. Not cool.
@@stg.saltnvinegar it's not really condescending as I had assumed you were a thoughtful person who is trying to do the right thing for their bodies and their beliefs. I don't think lowly of you at all, which I tend to think of in my understanding of condescension. However, if based on what I've found after literally reading scholarly articles on nutrition/diet and the immune system for hours each day for YEARS ive come to believe that humans should only eat whole foods, and that this is becoming more and more important due to increased immune challenge from constant pollution exposure and more complex viral challenges. Then for the good of whoever sees this information, and if I have it in me to preach that day, I'll write it out.
I, and many in the medical field, feel we are on the verge of a health disaster. A disease called MCAS, in which the immune system overreacts to everything due to being over-excited and exhausted, is likely to become extremely common soon. Avoiding pollution and eating super clean is how to both avoid and treat conditions such as this.
Seeing as avoiding pollution in our day to day lives is nearly impossible until we find a way to elect truly responsible leaders, I focus on diet.
I know vegans that are very healthy and I know many that aren't. Eating literally anything on this video would be very inflammatory and yes lead to immune overactivity/exhaustion. There's just so little room for debate in that area in my opinion, but I'm sorry if my over-concern/passion for this problem comes off as abrasive/annoying/condescending. To be honest I used to find people who preached about it annoying as well.
i found those cookies about a month ago and haven’t been able to stop buying them. they’re so delicious and inexpensive!!
so cheap!
Where did you find them
@@lanegalvin30 my local frys/kroger store!
lanegalvin when I lived in Wyoming they were in king soopers in California they are at Ralph’s!
Country Crook Plant butter is my absolute favorite !!!! I think it takes sooo good and sooo easy to find!!!
yes yes!
I agree! I’m surprised I haven’t seen any other vegan UA-camrs mention it. It’s cheaper, and better than Earth Balance.
totally agree about oven directions - everything needs a higher temp and/or longer time. especially fries! they're always about 10 mins lower than they actually need
The worst offender is frozen French fries 😂
I love the Tofu Cutlet. I find it at our local (rather small) Asian market. I cut it up, dredge it in cornstarch, fry it and add it to a panang curry, fry and dip it into sweet chili sauce or add it to a fried rice or any noodle dish. It freezes very well so I keep several blocks in the freezer.
" w t f, who the hell is *_LAURA_* ? "
💀💀💀
for the Canadians the Becel sticks are amazing for baking. They also come in four 1/2 cup sticks.
yes I'm so glad they made those finally!
Legit standing at the counter eating cheese while I watch this lol
NICE!
Try the simple truth cauliflower jalapeño cilantro dip! SO GOOD! I love having it on a wrap or sandwich. Yum! It’s in the cold area by the salad kits usually
The morning star incogmeato nuggets are by far my favorite!!♡♡
Speaking of vegan foods that tastes like it has egg in them, Detoxinista has a vegan sweet potato waffle recipe in one of her cookbooks that always trips me out because it tastes so eggy!
The Eat Pastry vegan cookie dough is AMAZING as well! I get mine at Costco & Whole Foods.
Thanks for the review, Lauren! I hope that I can find the Kite Hill dip. Looks yum. Can you get the Yves brand nuggets in Cali? They’re pretty great!
The Follow your heart medium cheddar slices are so good!! Def a good choice.👌🏼
I agree that those are the best vegan chocolate chip cookies. Making them for Christmas.
sweet loren's has cookies like the simple truth ones which are so great!
They’re so much better!
I love the follow your heart smokes provolone! Also the chao cheeses I love! The gardein strips are the best!
The first time I had the Chao it immediately reminded me of queso dip. Maybe I should try melting the block next time. 😏
@@TreborSelt ohh yes!! Melt it and let us know! It’s creamy enough too!
LOVE the housefood's Teriyaki tofu cutlet; the spicy garlic, not so much. In the Bay Area, it's at Raley's, Nob Hill and BelAir. Tossing it into stir fry so freakin' convenient.
Ahhh this series is awesome 😎.
I love your honest reviews, can't wait to try out some new stuff!!
Yay! Thank you!
The Wegmans store brand vegan nuggets are actually really good. I highly recommend 👍🏻
I love the series! thank you!
Glad you like them!
The kite Hill French onion dip is amazing!!
MMHMM!
I have 2 packages of those cookies in my fridge right now. LOVE THEM!
I haven't tried any of these for once! Thank you for some great ideas :)
i FINALLY found the medium cheddar when i was out of town and brought home 3 packs lol. delicious!
So good!
I was super excited to see butter. I'm gonna take a crack at vegan croissants and am super excited. Also, I made the spicy black bean taquitos from vegan comfort classics a few days ago and they were a hit! My family loved them!
AWESOME!!! Even I won't attempt croissants haha
Follow Your Heart Gouda slices are my favorite!
Hi Lauren, I hope You, Chris, Snickles and The Team@hotforfood have a Wonderful Merry Christmas❤ Blessings & lots of love,
Piper
KISSES!
The face you make at 2:55
I relate so much. I get that same far off look when I'm eating.
Friends will ask me what I'm thinking about as if I'm lost in thought. And just like you...I'm just thinking about the food I'm eating.
it's mesmerizing sometimes hahaa
I love House foods products! That tofu is so great - especially for sandwiches, soups, meal prep. It’s perfect as-is. So good! And I see it in all sorts of stores so it’s easier to find than some other products. I also adore anything from follow your heart.
I keep meaning to try kite hill but often they’re so pricey. I’ll be on the lookout for the other stuff
I wonder if you cook half as per package directions then the other half how you do then compare if they would be better to compare that way? So folks don’t say “user error” lol
yes true. I should have done that, but they weren't that bad at all. COMPLETELY EDIBLE hahaha
I love this series!
thanks!
Love you Lauren!
love this new series!
thank yaa!
I love the tofu cutlet! And they've carried it for years in my small local grocery store, which is very white-bread, and not fancy or health conscious or particularly vegan-friendly (it's getting much more vegan friendly now - obviously those products are getting way more popular - yay!).
that's amazing!
I agree! I always cook in a hotter oven and for longer than package instructions. Its never crispy enough
If you have target close by I highly recommend their plant based nuggets (they are like the gardien but juicer and cheaper?! and the raised & rooted nuggets. Feel like they're game changers.
Thanks Lauren!!!!!!
Never seen those cookies before will be looking it up
The cookies and butter are absolutely my favs! I need to buy a pack of those cookies again soon!!😂
So good!
Nice products
YES! Those cookies are super dope in a pinch. I like baking, but my wife buys those every once in a while and I digg it.
Oh yeah!
I see that tofu at my little Asian grocery but I always pass for some reason. I'm getting some ASAP! Alsooo (unrelated)....the nacho cheese from your comfort classics cookbook is INSANE ALL CAPS DELICIOUS. I've made it twice this week. It's the best "potato cheese" recipe hands down and so is your Sour Cream recipe. I thought I didn't like cashew cream until I tried yours. Thank you, Lauren! Excited for your new book:)
this is so exciting to hear thank you! I do get stellar reviews on the cheese recipe on the internet :) xo
Follow Your Heard Cheddar Slices are literally BOMBBB 💣
I’ve been snobby about trying Laura’s 😂. I will consider it now.
That's exactly how I eat the Chive flavored Kite Hill Cream Cheese! LOL
(Haven't seen the dips in my area)
Vegan supply has all the cheese/ dips from KH as well as their new stuffed pastas 🤤 I live close enough I can drive to both their stores within 1.5 hours. Ahaha. But I typically order online.
Ugh those cookies, AND THEY'RE CHEAP. I always get them for $2.5 or $3.
Hi Lauren. I recently tried the new Field Roast chicken nuggets. They are delicious!!!
have you tried the quorn products? not all are vegan but I think they're working on it. they're made with mushrooms! so meaty and good. also my fave way to cook them because lazy is micro for one minute to warm, then toaster oven.
Make those choc chip cookies in the air fryer, so yummy and good. 🎄🤩😻
whaaaa!
@@hotforfood yup, 300 for 10-15 mins depending on how you like your cookies. Pam. 🤤🤩🤩🤩👍🍪🍪🍪
Good food for everyone
Have you tried the Dr. Praeger’s chick’n tenders? I’m honestly addicted. Perfect outer layer crunch but good meaty texture. I just wish you got more than 6 to a box 😢
oh gawd no! they're vegan!!
I luhhuuuvvv that baked tofu, especially the teriyaki flavored one. The stores around me all stopped selling it :(
I looove the country crock plant sticks! I think they taste better than earth balance and so much more accessible and affordable 😶
yes they're the bestest!
Have you tried the Raised & Rooted nuggets? I usually get them at Costco but according to their website that are also at Ralphs and Vons. The crust on them is comparable to the chicken nuggets at McDonalds, which I haven't really found in a vegan alternative before.
yea they just started making them vegan at Costco only so I havent no. I don't have a costco membership!
I LOVE THAT TOFU! I find it at Safeway which I think is owned by Ralphs. Also at WINCO foods if you guys have that.
Forgot to say I use it for my fresh rice paper salad rolls...it is already baked and has a lot of flavor
So it’s funny because the last video you did I had just picked up the chipotle lime ones. They don’t carry them in my local grocery stores and I happened to be in Ann Arbor Michigan so I stopped in whole foods. I saw those and i was like oooo that looks great. Then i saw your video and saw they were bigger i got even more excited. There’s so much potential with them! They’re so good but now I’m going to have to try to request my kroger to bring them in haha 😂
yes you can always ask grocers about products and they can usually get them in
Very good
You HAVE TO try the Quorn veggie roast!! The flavor alone is bomb, but the look and texture is scary similar to turkey! It has been my go to for years! Please try it and tell me what you think.
hmm I will look. Is it vegan? Their products weren't last time I checked
@@hotforfood They do a vegan range in the UK but the roast isn't vegan here, not sure what it's like in the US though
I just got those follow your heart slices ❤
the medium cheddar actually made me gag when i got it LMAO glad ur enjoying it!!
whaaa haha
Great
Thank you. love your videos. Unfortunately I can’t hardly find much for vegan prepared foods in Alberta Canada unless I go to the odd expensive natural stores that only are in the cities and they still don’t have much. 😏😩🇨🇦
aaah well I have shopped in Alberta actually and there's a lot of stuff at Save On! I think you just need to do a little research ;)
You have to try the Whole Foods brand chickenless breaded nuggets if you haven’t! They’re my absolute favorite vegan chicken nugget and I’ve tried all the ones on the market at this point.
As someone who is not vegan but can not eat dairy without getting sick I love learning about new dairy alternatives so I can still eat yummy food
I'm so glad!
I literally have been eating this cookies for 2 years or so
I can’t seem to get making vegan chocolate chip cookies from scratch so they come in handy
Have you tried the miyokos chedder block yet? It's different, would like to hear your take on it.
no I haven't
Where did you get your shirt, I love it. Thanks
I think at the Bay in canada a while back! I wear it all the time haha
Love you're UA-cam channel ❤ and all always whching
thank you thank you xo
Amazon Fresh has the cutlets.
I was trying to remember why I recognized the brand House Foods and when I looked at their website I realized I’ve been buying their tofu Shirataki noodles for years!
Wow
Here for the algorithms.
Peace and love, Lauren! ☮️💖💚✨
bahaha
I desperately need to find that cookie dough but it's not at any of the Kroger-brand grocery stores near me 😥
Nice video
I watch and enjoy your videos even though I'm not vegan
What about the Miyokos block cheeses?!
LMAO I love how you didn't want to down talk the nuggets
Have you tried the Sweet Loren cookies? They're also in the refrigerated cookies section (if they're available near you). They're vegan and gluten-free. My mom originally was the one who came across them in the store and have been a favourite of mine, my mom, and my husband. I loved the chocolate chip one, but my favourite is currently the sugar cookie.
I always judge vegan cheese by how it tastes before it's cooked or baked. Those slices must be delicious. 😂
not yet I've been scared too hahaha
@@hotforfood give them a try!! I find they melt in my mouth lol I also really like Cybele’s Free to Eat cookies too for boxed cookies and the Homefree Vanilla Wafer’s. (I’m not gluten free, but a lot of the vegan cookies I come across are 😂)
“ok Laura, you better pray these are good” 😆😆😆
Maybe try making them in the air fryer?
Oh yes!
Would you be interested in trying out items from ALDI? I get lots of stuff from there but things like avocado oil are much less expensive there. Just wondering! Love this new series 😊
I don't know if Aldi is in Cali? I think it's an east coast chain isn't it?
@@hotforfood They expanded into Southern California only in the last year or so I think, but obv I’m not sure if there are any directly around you haha.
Alpha nuggets are the best! 🤤
Are those nuggets comparable to the yvese ones? They look like them
aaah yes kinda, basically the same
“I’m not a crazy person…“🤣 So I have country crock plant-based butter on my list now but it’s going to be very tough to beat Miyoko’s plant-based butter! I tried the mucus oat butter and butter in a crock I do not like either of them. I only buy the large Miyoko’s cube butter. My husband picks it up for me at Costco. Even if the Laura’s got two thumbs up I wouldn’t buy it… Way too much Single use plastic!😖
the miyokos is my fave for buttercream frosting but I have to admit it's not my fave just as a butter spread for toast etc.
I’m unbelievably sad that I don’t have that cookie 🍪 dough near me..but it’s for the best because I would destroy those 😂
Hey Lauren! Question have you tried "Nuggs" they are vegan chicken nugget brand that I keep getting advertised, I was thinking about buying them but wanna know what you think :)
ok well someone told me they were nasty. BUT I think they also revised the formula? Im not sure, but they're so expensive I'm afraid to risk it
@@hotforfood yeah I saw they revised and good things about it! I see people always commenting on how crispy they are so I am intrigued, but yeah they are super expensive so I understand
I wish we had these products in my country. 😪
Me too. Can't get any of these products lol
are the cookies gluten free?
nope
Please try Whole Foods 365 brand of plant based cheddar cheese! It’s SO good.
How does that butter compare to the Myokos butter??
It’s not cultured like Miyokos, so it’s not as tasty and fancy. But it’s very cost effective and works super well for baking!!!
I really only like Miyoko's for making buttercream frosting, as an actual butter spread it's not my favorite
Yeah myokos is definitely expensive. I usually use it for things that are supposed to be ‘buttery’ like you said buttercream. Because I can’t stand the taste of margarine (like becel) but they are usually fine to cook into think like cakes when you can’t taste it.
I actually like the chick'n nuggets drier on the inside lol, the gardein ones are too moist for me, and hard to get crispy...
Same. I love the yves ones . Gardein are too soft and the coating always falls off
I love the simple truth brand! All we really have near me is Kroger.
it's so great they made so many plant based products!
I had Annie's basic vegan mac and cheese this week for the first time. Maybe you can try that.
Gonna add Annie's Organic Vegan Pumpkin & Sweet Potato Mac & Cheese to this. I've tried both, and I like this one much better. Makes up for my missing the Earth Balance White Cheddar Mac & Cheese that they don't make anymore.
@@Diva380 I was looking at their website yesterday wondering if it was worth a try. Thanks! Oh...I didn't even know Earth Balance had a Mac and cheese.
@@loverofmysoul8742 Welcome! And yeah, Earth Balance had it a few years ago, but it was recalled and then discontinued because people were having allergic reactions to an ingredient in it. I had a very, very mild reaction to it, but it wasn't bothersome enough for me to stop buying it and eating it. Apparently a different story for other folks.
Incogmeato has bomb chicken McNuggets!! You should try them next
I agree! Just tried them recently and I think they might be my new fave nugget!
You should try the simple truth plant based queso dip. It's so good!
Where do u find this brand?
it's in my fridge ;)
Kroger / Ralph;s - not sure if this is part of Wegman's on the east coast?
@@hotforfood its kroger. I live in Ohio, we have kroger here. Wegmans is New York
its funny because me and my family (who arent vegan) get the simple truth cookies and love them a lot. and one time they got and tried their non-vegan ones and they all hated them so much nobody could even finish one (which is basically unheard of around here for something to be THAT bad, let alone for everyone). i couldnt try them for obvious reasons but i just found it funny how much they differed and how much everyone enjoys the vegan ones lmao
oh wow!
Could you do a Canadian equivalent? Love these videos but find them a bit irrelevant now since we can’t get most of these in Canada 😭😭😭
yes except I'm not in Canada, so when I am I will!
If you're a chicken nugget snob, you need to try nuggs (you have to order them and I think whole foods started selling them) The. Best. Nuggets. Ever.
Trustworthy Critic 👌🏾
🙋🏻♀️🥳
i love eating vegan cheese slices like that 😂
THE BEST!
if you live in south carolina i know that vons is similar to harris teeters
