Seasonal depression is a very real thing for many people in northern climates, including myself. It's a time of year when it's so much easier to slip into lethargy and apathy, so intentional action is helpful for me. Working out when I don't want to, getting fresh air when I'd rather nap, and putting my hands to tasks and projects that inspire me to keep going. Spring is coming and now I'll get to enjoy this gorgeous birdcage. The whole story is in this video plus see me WIPE OUT on the sledding hill!

I live in the Northwest of UK. Grey skies are our winter and summer.😬
We have the same machine and I didn't know how fragile that wool seal is and I too was a sad cookie without my machine til those seals came in! I bought three because that is never happening again.
Wow what a score that bird cage is. It looks so lovely with your “Parisienne Farmgirl green”.
Add lots of vitamin D to your day, 20,000 IU. Plus K. Helps the blues.
Love the winter love cloudy days. I feel the worst in summer. Long days and constant sunshine breaks me down.
Oh my gosh, this is exactly how I feel! I’m a pluviophile - love rainy, overcast and cloudy days. Snow too of course which we don’t get enough of in central VA. Summers here are brutal and my bodily thermostat is broken. My entire life I’ve suffered in heat and bright sun. I do have a pituitary microadenoma, which I’ve taken medication for over forty years. It’s tricky being a gardener and suffering in the sweltering summer heat. When many others are cold, I’m
usually hot, no matter what age or size I’ve been thru the decades. Dunno how many times I’ve told folks they can don more layers to warm up but I can’t take my skin off to cool down!
The birdhouse is precious!
We creatives must keep our eyes opened. Well done! What a gorgeous cage!!! One man’s trash……
That birdcage would make a great endtable, replace the lid with glass, wood or a few tiles…..love the green color🌿
Beautiful! I love throwing myself into home projects in dark winter and also finding discount bulbs to get in the garden. Fresh flowers are also quite wonderful. And wearing natural fibers oddly enough helps me.
What a lovely drive into town❤❄️❄️
No snow where I am in California... but almost built an arc for my craft project!!!!! LIke you we have been consumed by bad weather. That bird cage is the most incredible find!!!!! Love everything about it!
This is exactly how the brutal summer felt here in Texas this year. We were all struggling early with unbearable temperatures and zero rain. Extremes either way are just awful. I’m sorry that you are all dealing with it and will pray for some sun for you soon.
Happy Friday! I understand completely living in Pittsburgh PA. I keep myself very busy in the Winter Time. My husband, however, loves the Winter Time the more snow the better for him. I am a summer baby, born smack in the middle, July 15th...I am enrolled in a School of Ministry and trying my best to get finished this year! I am jealous of THAT BIRD CAGE, IT IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! SHARED TO THE BURGH
The bird cage turned out great. Good score. I live in the PNW too. I can understand those winter blues. Like you I am doing a lot of crafting. Joyous Blessings.
Gosh your drive in the beginning was so beautiful with the snow on the trees. We haven't had a real snow here in KY this winter and I miss it being a northerner. The bird cage is gorgeous Angela. Good for you that you grabbed that. Really enjoyed the end and getting to see you all sledding. What fun!
What a find! I was hoping you'd paint it green. Perfect.
Angela your green coat is absolutely stunning!
I thought so too. Perfect winter colour! 👌
OMG...what a Beautiful Bird Cage! God Bless you for saving it and giving it more life!
One thing about an Alberta winter, even though it can get down into the -40s Celsius, it's always sunny. Plus we do get Chinooks, which are warm winds that blow in over the Rockies to give a much needed break from winter. It's normal, happens at least once every winter. It's not "climate warming" like Leo Dicaprio yelled to the world when he was up here making a movie, who had the pleasure of experiencing a Chinook. Look up images of a Chinook arch over Alberta. That's our warning one is coming after a cold spell.
I’m in Calgary. Very familiar with the Chinooks. 😁
Alberta girl here too! What a beautiful winter we’ve had so far …….. and sooo much sunny clear days!!!
That sounds amazing. I don’t mind the snow and change of seasons…. It’s juts the BLAH feeling say after day that is terrifying.
Your skin looks beautiful Angela. Please consider doing a skin care/ make up routine video. I pray y’all have sunnier days soon!💕
Oh man that bird cage I love it !!!! I keep coming back and back watching this video over and over to see it :)
Beautiful four hours of sunshine pouring into your conservatory Angela and I also enjoyed everything else as well ... So refreshing for me today... Thanks...
Birdhouse was a find!
Love that transferware ewer and basin!
Oh gosh darling we have so much snow. As for the coffee I hear ya sister! I’m the same ❤🙋🏻♀️
That bird cage is everything !!! 😍
Bird cage is Beautiful. Looks like it has alway been part of the Room. ❤️
Your birdhouse is fabulous. I’m a roadside warrior and will nab a great item or dig (on public land) an endangered plant. Just doing our duty to save endangered items. 😉
Yes! Love free items I love the bird house and the color is out of this world 😮❤❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wow! What a beautiful score!!
Here in Vancouver, winter is always grey and rainy. This winter has been extra bad and I fondly remember the clear blue Alberta skies of my childhood. I take lots of vitamin d and I feel quite content until we get a sunny day and I realize how much I miss it! Hang in there, Angela!😊
You find the most wonderful treasures ❤️
Greetings from sunny Australia 🔆 The snow footage at the beginning was spectacular. We don’t get snow in the south where we live - it looks so dreamy and whimsical. Your ‘thing’ for the colour green is evident in that stunning coat and that elaborate birdcage. My favourite colours are pinks and greens 🍃🌺🍃 Big hugs and blessings, Lana
I absolutely love this!❤ I can’t believe they would throw that beautiful cage out!!
Love that green! 💚
You are the best! Such a hard worker! Enjoyed watching you work on the bird cage.
I live NE of Cheyenne, Wy and it's been cold, snowy, and grey here too. I'm trying to take my mind off the weather by doing lots of re-organizing and de-cluttering around the house. I love what you did with the birdcage - what a find!!
Beautiful desk!!!! Oh my the Birdcage!! It looked like a fun time in the snow!
Looking every day for signs of spring to add to my imaginary list....1)crocus trying to pop up out of the ground, 2)the smell of a skunk coming out of hybernation too early, 3)grass greening up a little from all of the rain (instead of snow) here near Galena IL. Thanks for sharing your birdcage project and fun times sledding with your kiddos. It's amazing how a little Door Co Coffee and thrift store shopping can chase away the winter blahs! 💕
The birdcage reminds me of the buildings in Rome! What a wonderful way to jazz it up!
I live in the PNW, so we deal with lots and lots of grey for months. One of the best things we utilize is a happy light!! 10 min in front of it every few hours is such a mood boost. Hang in there! ❤
We are in Michigan. Can relate. No sun. No snow. Just wet and muddy roads and doggy paws.
What a beautiful birdhouse!
Angela, I love that you would brave the weather and cold for coffee, so would I! ☕ Absolutely love that bird cage, so glad you spotted it and saved it from going to the trash! ❤☺
Oh my gosh. My family was asleep and I got out o to the unplowed roads and thought, maaaaaaaybe this was a bad idea?? But we’re tough up here, and I was to the coffee shop in 15. Followed a snow plow:)
Thanks for this, I am so excited to see a video on your houseplants! I love your convservatory and wish so desperately for a similar space!
Love that birdcage 😍 gold rubb n buff on the wire parts would be gorgeous too❤
That bird cage is stunning! And pricey, I'd guess. Hang in there Angela, Spring will be here soon!
Love the birdhouse, what a score from the trash
The lil things get ya. Wishing you peace and love. 💖
Aha, the door trim ,hence the bright green on the birdcage! Now it makes sense.
I finally got a light box to use on our gray days. The added light has helped my SAD a lot so far this winter! Hope you get more sunshine soon!! 🌞
The Birdhouse turned out Beautiful , I love the color and you having fun with your kids out in the snow is priceless :) God Bless .
Sunshine is coming 🌞🤍⭐️
I admire your resilience Ang...praying for brighter days!!! 💕🙏🏻💕
What a beautiful find, the birdcage! A fun day in the snow with the kids 😊❤️😊. Thank you for sharing the fun!
Many greetings from Germany, dear Angela 💜
Love it! What an amazing find 💗
Oh to go sledding ! I loved sledding as a child and would still go at my age 59 , but we don’t often get snow and no good sledding hills . We do get a fair amount of sunshine though . Your birdcage turned out beautiful! Can’t wait to see the houseplant video next week ❤
That bird house is amazing! 🥰
Getting out to play, WIN! Take that winter blues!
what happened to your little stovetop espresso pot? We are experiencing the same 'feels' here in ARIZONA, and it is NOT supposed to happen here! Got 5 more inches of snow last night! Love you birdcage - it never ceases to amaze me what people toss out!
I continue to be dumbfounded as to what people put into the trash. The birdcage was excellent and then you made it beautiful! Thank you for saving that gorgeous piece of art. From a fellow Wisconsinite….hang in there…you know the Sun will return!! 🙏😊
Coffee lover here too.☕️👀👏🏻
Fab finds! Love that little desk, too.
Winter blues ditto. Your vulnerability and honesty is truly appreciated along with you creativity. The joy in your face at the end is everything! Hang in there. The the bulbs and seeds are just waiting under that blanket of snow.
It looks just like an orangery well done!
My husband and I lived in North Dakota for 4 years and we had to leave because of the winter blues. Winter was like 7 months 😱! We just couldn't deal with it, but neither of us grew up there so that may have been why. I grew up near Monterey, CA where it rarely freezes and gets above 70s in the summer so I'm kind of picky and my husband lived in Spain for 10 years so we were out of our element in ND 🤷♀️ 😂
As a former New England girl by mid February I was ready to eat my young. Hang in there Angela Sprin is on the way.
This made me LAUGH OUT LOUD literally.
Hi Angela! So glad to see you and the things happening at your home. The birdcage was a wonderful find and I love the green in the conservatory. The sunshine makes such a difference in our lives and when it is absent, our mood changes and we experience lethargy and apathy. Reading a good book, working on a project, nurturing houseplants, cooking comforting foods helps but there is nothing like being able to be outdoors to soothe the soul. Great that you went sledding with the children! Looking forward to seeing the desk in Amelie’s room and houseplants in the conservatory. Thank you for sharing your life with us!
I’m so glad you went out to PLAY! That is one of the best mood enhancers. Your birdcage looks beautiful in that wonderful green color! ✨💕
The cage is beautiful!❤
Oh I love to get things from the trash on side of the road some good stuff
The birdhouse is great what a find! I'm surprised since you have daughters that you haven't done a wonderful miniature house( chateau) paint decorate and over time furnish with wonderful treasures it's something you all could share. Enjoyed the vlog Thank you
Beautiful bird cage.
Wow! What a great birdcage. Look over the fence often.😊
she is soooooooooo 🤩😍😍😍🥰🥰 nice soooo pretty
Feeling the same with all the snow here in eastern South Dakota this winter. I think it was back in 2016 I was in your area for photography and stayed in Appleton Wisconsin and went up to Green Bay and Sheboygan and love the marina there.
Fabulous find!!
What a find! And you didn't even have to go looking for it. Or pay for it! Serendipity!
But it’s so beautiful!
What a find on that birdhouse. I have a wooden Victorian birdhouse rescue but yours is huge and outstanding!!! The Connecticut weather has been grey, rainy and moody, but no snow...yet.
What a treasure you found with that birdhouse 💚. The sledding looked like so much fun ❄️😁.
That birdcage is gorgeous! So glad you spotted it. The green is perfect in the conservatory.
Very gray winter here in IL, without the pretty blanket of snow. We did have a white Christmas. I am going to go hunt up the light someone gave us,needing a shot of that.
Ok, I feel guilty I live in coastal California. It is the best in the winter. My husband is from Wisconsin so I do think your summers are more beautiful there. It's on average about 59 degrees here. It rained a lot, but I love the rain.
Drive out every day for your coffee. You deserve that private time!!!
Kelsey, below, speaks about a happy light. They are for seasonal affected disorder. Use them!!! A medical student studied in South Africa as U. K. was too dark for his moods.
I can't imagin how depressing that could be. It is 74 today in North Florida. I am at an outdoor pizza place on vilano Beach, waiting for a Pina colada. Cold front coming in tomorrow, so enjoying while it's good.
Love the birdcage
Omg. I can TASTE a pina colada with the sea salt on my lips if I remember hard enough…. Sounds fabulous!!
Beautiful!!!!!
Goodness that resale desk is YUMMY! Well spotted!! I hear you with the weather; here in the Adirondacks, we've seen the sun maybe 4 days since Christmas. Its been dark and gloomy with nothing but rain and frozen, rutted mud. (You know, the ankle-breakers. My horses have had to stay in the barn way more than normal). I feel like my DNA is turning slightly amphibian. Conditions are beginning to turn though, so yay! Loved the birdcage project! Well done, safe journey to your espresso machine seal! Cheers!!
Oh my GOODNESS... I am drooling over your beautiful birdcage!!! How did you manage to match the spray paint to the green paint in your conservatory!!!!? It looks AMAAAAAAAAAAZING!!!!! 😊❤❤❤
I’ve got a thing for green:)
@@ParisienneFarmgirl Your gorgeous green coat is perfect with your hair colour 👌
You sure do, and I'm super impressed! It really pops against the trim and framing of the windows and doors.. Green is my favorite color and anything metallic gold that is-- ancient and time worn...😊 )
The green coat!!!!
That birdcage!!! 💕I love winter, but this one has been a stinker. So grey and rainy…and our forecast is more of the same. What I wouldn't give for a nice snowfall followed by a bright sunny day!
I also found a large wood bird cage very similar to yours. I painted mine black and fill it with pumpkins and crows for the fall season.
I am so sorry for your weather. I live in Florida so I can only imagine 😬
Eight inches of snow in Door County - but across the Big Lake, in the snow zone where I live, we got twenty four - and now it's all gone.
I collect bird houses/cages & CANNOT believe your good fortune in finding such a beautiful item as a throw away. It's quite magnificent, as you are well aware. How anyone could even consider discarding something so impressive is way beyond me - but given its disregard, I'm pleased your capable hands were there to retrieve it for resurrection. It's an absolutely amazing treasure you were able to give new life to - and perfect for the Conservatory. So here's my studied conclusion: Your 'Good Eye' remains alive & well - and very active. Congrats!
Very kind. Hello from 60 miles
away:). Do you have ice yet?
@@ParisienneFarmgirl I live 20 miles south east of coastal Grand Haven - but I was in Leelanau County, directly across from Door County, this last weekend.
There's very little ice on the bay around Traverse City all the way up to Northport.
I didn't really see the shores of the Big Lake while there but there can't be much ice. As warm as it's been, wave action tends to break it up when the only ice there is just off the beach.
And I saw essentially no snow on the ground even at Leelanau's tip - and, of course, we still have none here at home.
Birdcage 😍💚!! I have a thing for big ole birdcages and have a Victorian one myself, but it's a beast to clean! Hadn't thought of using a wire brush on it. (wish I could send a photo).
I love winter in NE And now I’ve been on top of a Mtn in NC and we’ve only had abt 8” in total all winter 😮 It has been very cold (neg temps) but no snow Anyway, are u working on getting your apt in Paris or home in France yet😅???
Love the birdcage🎉🎉🎉🎉Who would throw it away🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
❤️❤️❤️
Don't like the john deer green but love the bird house
😍
I am obsessed with this bird cage. What kind of spray paint did you use? Something for metal and wood? Acrylic (water based) or oil? Outdoor or indoor type paint? And the color. It looks like a grass green or John Deere (lol) shade of green? but then in the sun, it looks a brighter shade, also look like a gloss finish. Mostly wanted to know what would be a good paint for a bird cage kind of project.
Love the birdcage…. NOT that green. 😢
I have one just like that!
Lucky you! It is so elegant.
