As mentioned the other day, we had storms here last week and the power went out. It's so enjoyable for me to see beautiful moments through the lens of my camera and share them with you. Life moves SO fast. Time is always marching on, but there are pockets of time that seem to stand still, such as this evening of rolling thunder and candlelight. Thank you for being here.

Hello Angela, I purchased the digital copy of the Spring 2021 Old World Design Society magazine today. I downloaded it and when it finished downloading the magazine came onto my laptop screen. I clicked on the 2 page feature and then something else?? and it disappeared. I don't know how to view the magazine now. How do I find it?? I've really been looking forward to viewing it. This makes me think of my young days on our farm. We very often had candles only and always went to bed early. It was very peaceful. I love crafting but unfortunately have not been able to do this for a few years. I am my hubby's carer and really don't have the time to do it. Hopefully one day I will resume my passion. In the meanwhile I'm crafting up a storm with crotched blankets, paintings, decorative boxes that can be used as box files or paper storage etc. Not to mention my miniature collection of n cardboard and mattboard. I would love to have some evenings like that.... especially hearing, seeing, and smelling rain. I'm on Whidbey island in Western WA and haven't had rain since May. So waiting for it to rain again.
Growing up on Lake Michigan we'd excitedly sit inside watching the big storms approach with their thunder, lightning, rolling clouds, & all the attending rain. When strong enough, they'd interrupt our power too, allowing for the candles to come out, a fire to be lit in the fireplace, and we'd all gather together wondering aloud when life would get back to normal. Looking back, those powerless interludes, like the one you just experienced, were opportunities for our family to quietly connect too.
Keeping technology from intruding can do that..
I wouldn’t mind a half hour of this. So peaceful and soothing.

The soft rain in the garden was so peaceful. There is no chaos in silence. We don't even realize how loud our daily appliances are until the power is off. Would love rainy day ones often.beautiful!
The rain seems to be a reason to sit back and exhale, relax, spend quiet time, and do things that calm your mind. I love the rhythmic sounds of rain....

A number of years ago we lost power for several days during a snow storm. I loved it! Quiet. Read, worked puzzles, some hand sewing, etc. It was a lovely time. It hasn't happened since which is disappointing. Thank you for sharing your experience. (Now time to get surge protectors for your new wine fridge and espresso machine!😊)

This was special. Finding out the world is now for sure indefinitely marching towards the end with the Pope making a 7 yr plan. But we must keep on goin till the Lord comes to get us. I'm reminded even if we have an electrical outtage we can still find the beauty in it. I long for more natural things. I'm finding my body relaxes with the electrical interruptions to my body. And well Country Girls can survive and with style. I was thinking I'd like to be more of a producer than a consumer and you and your family are definitely producers. There is more beauty in Producing than just blindly consuming. Its beautiful ❤️. Shalom Aleichem Angela.
I use sounds of rain and thunder from my app’s files or recorded sounds while sailing &/or camping on CA beaches. Yours is just as enjoyable. Thanks for sharing. You store wine in a fridge? Interesting. I enjoy my MD or Thunder bird 😉 right from the bag.

We had a power outage once and we had our neighbors come over. We barbequed and played games by lantern light and laughed. It was a great time. Now, every once in a while, we make believe that the power is out for an evening and have fun!

I agree with you family time in a simpler life are the best . I lived in Portugal and remember when electricity came to our village. My best family memories of my child hood are the many nights at candlelight with grandmother telling us six kids stories of our family that never forgot.

As a collector with lots of copper. when the lights go out and the candles are lit it becomes a magical time to revisit all the fun items I have found over the years and the memories of the excitement of making them part of my home.

I've seen so many YT videos where someone picks up a camera and swirls it around so fast you feel like you're being whirled around a dance floor!
