I am already happy with my WesAudio Prometheus, which sounds clean and lovely. Also with full recall is perfect! Has mid/side too. But also have the IGS Ruberband EQ and also very musical and great sounding eq and in most cases more flavor as a digital EQ. Cheers
@MrAnthem1 if I was to add another EQ to it I'd look at something with a quite unique character to it. The Wes Audio is quite clean and surgical. The Hendy Amps Michelangelo XL is my favourite to pair with it. Compliments it very well.
@dmitriN516 the anniversary edition is brilliant. The standard version is good. Certainly has the classic API sound. My only comment on it is that it's not a do all EQ. You'll find it works on most things but somethings you'll not want to use it on.
@dmitriN516 a cheaper alternative, is the Bettermaker EQ. Both EQs sound great but with the Wes Audio all controls are on the front. The Bettermaker has some menu diving and banking. I will do a review soon comparing the two. Which will help you with your choice.
If we buy a clean analog EQ, wouldn’t it be better to use a plugin? I want to buy one so badly because I’m bored of Pro-Q, even though it’s great. I’ve found that when I track my vocal with Neve Silk Red, it just adds that lovely saturation, and I want my analog EQ to have the same vibe. I also have the Michelangelo EQ plugin, and it’s great. As the owner of the real one, how much better do you think the analog version is?
@Tresaxx771 even a clean EQ has a sound. Also a hands on feel automatically makes you work in a different way. The clean output is clean but the tube output has a more coloured sound. I love the Michelangelo plugin. It has a great sound to it. The hardware is better of course and I'd highly recommend it. The Michelangelo isn't a do everything EQ like the Wes Audio is. It sounds brilliant and it would be great to use when tracking. Especially the fact it has an airband.
Do you have something against the Bettermaker Mastering EQ? I've got one as well as the Wes Audio ngTubeEQ. And they are the only two EQ's I intend to own in my mastering chain. I find the Wes Audio better in stereo. It just sounds better in that mode. Wider and more tone. Then I use the Bettermaker in Mid/Side for adding detail in the stereo field in the mids and the sides. I don't use the Pultec in it as it's a bit to heavy handed. But I've never heard you endorse the Bettermaker which I'm betting you have had some experience with it and I know you can afford it. So why haven't you got one?
@simeonmatthews4584 no nothing against the bettermaker mastering EQ. I have one in this studio to the left of me. Love it. I also have the new Bettermaker Passive valve, bettermaker bus comp, bettermaker darthlimiter all in this studio. Also a bettermaker limiter v2 in studio A. So you could say I love bettermaker. One thing I love about the Wes Audio NG Tube EQ us that all controls are on the front. There's some menu diving in the bettermaker mastering EQ. Both sound great, I just find the Wes Audio can do a lot more and has a really nice user interface.
Agreed, its a great unit! For anyone whos not in a good financial situation, id also like to point out Access Analog as an option All u need is 15 bucks and wifi. U can get some analog goodness going and see if thats what ur missing in ur mix
@dougleydorite yeah I think so too. They've really set the bar high with the NG series. I would imagine there's going to be some really cool units coming from them over the next few years. Elysia has just entered the digital recall market. They'll do big things.
I need to keep in mind that this is from a mastering perspective right, for mixing it would be nice too but out of my budget unfortunately. For a ‘budget’ eq I have an Elysia xfilter on my wish list. I also was considering a Tegeler EQP-1 but the Gainlab Empress seems more to my liking.
@Chaos-Dynamics on a budget I'd 100% go down the 500 series route. So many options at a fraction of the price. For instance a Xfilter is £700 in 500 series and £1100 and there's not much difference in terms of sound.
@@Chaos-Dynamics I have the Elysia xfilter rack version and it’s incredible! The passive massage button gives it, in my opinion, one of the best high end responses on the market
My first was the Gyraf G14S. That mid Band is simply unbeatable imo. Colourful EQ that does something no option in the box does. Today, maybe I would’ve gone for the Wes audio one, it was not available back then. Though I’m happy it wasn’t and I got the G14S instead. Have it now paired with a Thermos Green for clean cutting and a Hendyamps Michelangelo, for shelves and a more aggressive colouration. I wonder why you guys don’t have any gyraf gear. Especially the G21 is a unit that does something no other unit on the market does, so I think it would be very interesting for your studios.
@MrAkkaTinka Gyraf EQs are great. I've considered getting one. I just have close industry friends who have had issues with them getting repaired that have put me off getting one. I need hassel free good relationships with the companies of the gear I install. That's honestly the only reason I haven't installed Gyraf gear.
Indeed, I absolutely love my NGtubeEQ... the precision and recall takes everything to another level.

Yep! Just got the Wes Audio ngBUS Comp. Tube EQ is next.
@studioneo986 it's a brilliant combination
What 2nd eq would complement it? I was thinking about the igs eq 8250 what are your thoughts

@MrAnthem1 Yes, you can order them direct from Hendy Amps. The standard version will compliment it just as good.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio good deal thanks!
How do you feel about the API 5500 stereo EQ? I was looking at that as my first EQ

You wouldn’t recommend the Cranborne Carnaby HE2 as a first ?
Price being important !
@danmadgett1513 No, it's not an EQ it's a 3 band saturation box. It looks like an EQ and will often be referred to as an EQ but it's not.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio Oh ! I didn’t realize that, Very interesting

Manley Massive Passive
@klogg1987 a good EQ. Wouldn't be q bad starter EQ
It’s also $6k
