I sold three pieces of equipment to get one of these eq’s. And I’m so glad I did. This eq is absolutely amazing. I use it with my bettermaker equipment and they just work so well together. The 28khz adds an incredible air . The tubes are off the chain. Everything about this eq is amazing. And to top it all off. Wes Audio are an incredible company to deal with 😊
Workflow wise, this unit fulfills needs I didn’t know i have. Another outstanding EQ in the same price range, consisting a completely different kind of traits i really consider is the Goly Gravity’s Rainbow. ❤
Hi, there's no doubt that you can test fantastic gear. But I have one big regret: all your tests are pretty much destroyed by youtube's audio compression algorithm. Could I dream that one day you'll give us access to the HD audio from your tests (ie from a public Google drive) ? Bye and thank you for sharing your passion with us
@@Projacked1true but some differences are so subtle that a youtube video doesn't do it justice. maybe that just means its not even a significant enough change 🤷♂️
The smile on your face when you cranked the high band... Easily worth $6k for a mastering EQ with essentially 2 signal paths & recall. Paired with the NGT Comp? Good night Louise.
Awesome. A couple of things I didn't know after a huge studio upgrade and this being one of them (along with 3 of their 500 series and LunchBox... ALL RECALLABLE!). I already loved it, but now... Iron Pad!
Hello everything is fine? I hope so. Im a subscriber for many years and even if its off topic I would like to ask you something. Is about the Avalon VT 737SP cause this issue maybe appears on other gear that you maybe know...and I have one Avalon 737, but I have a problem and I don't know if it has happened to you... It works well, but when the artist stops singing for 2 or 3 minutes and then starts talking again to the microphone I notice a slight distortion and the gain is very low to the point that I have to ask the artist to shout on the mic and then it goes back to normal and I can record again. In other words, the gain is lost a little and the sound remains distant and distorted until either me or the artist sends a small scream into the microphone again. Has this ever happened to you ? Maybe with your knowdlege you can help me ...Thank you very much and a big hug...
I have been obsessing over this eq since its release. Just can’t afford it, but every night I contemplate selling half my gear and then snap back to reality 😭 someday 😂❤
‘And the dangerous things with these more modern type of analogue equipment with recall, type of equipment that just works so much easier… Is that you start to prefer it over equipment that probably is better, or sounds better, it’s a really dangerous thing’… Go on then, what sounds better?
Let me help you out with the downsides: It costs ~6000€, it takes away space, it consumes far more electricity than a plugin, since it's hardware, it will require maintenance at some point, it doesn't have a dynamic EQ function, it's limited to stepped values, you can't use it on multiple scources at the same time, there is not "dry/wet knob" and of course you need to dust it. I actually liked it's sound, but it's still just an EQ with the option for tube saturation. All the upsides it has compared to other analog EQs are very common and to be expected from plugins. PS: This is not a hate-post. This is just a post offering you a different perspective on how great and useful it actually is(n't) compared to other workflows.
As far I know, Wes Audio are just 2 guys. That means that any potential issue with firmware update in da future is really really high, I would not risk so much money at this point. Tons of option to use this money for something else / hardcore / sweet / analog ...
Seriously? Becuase of seeing pictures of only 2 guys at their web page about? And you really believe it would be possible for only 2 guys to provide such advanced hardware, several models over the world in consistant volumes? LOL

Great to see you enjoying this job! To have purpose and satisfaction, you can be grateful for that. Nice unit. I have to see how my crypto investments go, otherwise I’m still looking at Empress👍🏼
Wait.... A digital controlled Analog EQ, fine, but how are they doing Band solo'n??? I'm not believing that... That would mean each band would need to be crossed-over like a multiband Comp, But you would not have that in a analog EQ due to phase issues it would introduce. I want an explanation.
From what I understand, the reason you have to press-hold and touch is you get a 'preview' output that is digital, not analog, so you can tell what you are doing. When you go back to the regular mode, you are back in analog.
@@mikikus222 that's not correct. From the Sonimus website: EQ Basic Functioning The first invented equalizers were analog electronic circuits. These pieces of gear use resistors, capacitors, and inductors to process the audio. The result is a very small delay at specific frequencies that we call phase shift. The equalizer combines the phase-shifted signal with the original signal, changing the frequency response of the audio by boosting or cutting those specific frequencies and creating the EQ curves that we are familiar with today. The phase shift can produce artifacts in the audio. EQ designers try to minimize those artifacts, making them only audible in specific situations. This is why most equalizers are typically referred to as minimum phase equalizers. The electronic design of the equalizer specifies at what frequency the phase shift occurs, while the knob controls the blend between the original and phase-shifted signal - very much like the feedback control on a tape recorder-based delay.
Sounds good but the faceplate/design looks horrible. Why not make it actually look like a analog piece of gear that is digitally controlled rather than what they did which is that it looks digital but sounds analog but is digital control. Silly.
The tubes and circuits that give an actual warmth, as well as the ability to push them without getting harsh distortion, pretty much all distortion with great analog equipment sounds good, us in the digital world have to worry about (bad) clipping
FYI The tubes don’t color sound, it’s the transformers mainly. In digital algorithms are changing the sound, you’re changing ones and zeros. In analog your changing actual electrical current which has infinite resolution and other properties.
