It sure is, my favourite pedal I've seen in a long time - I got put onto it looking for a feedback pedal for noise rock/shoegaze, I love those almost broken, radio interference sounds - I'd absolutely LOVE to see you demo one of these on your harp one day (edit- I see you already have after finishing the video! Nice one! guess that's where I'm headed next!) - as someone's said to you before, bring on the harp-gaze! 😅👍 I love your demos/videos btw, it's nice to bump into you here so I could say something that won't get drowned in the sea of replies you rightly get! 👍💙
That last sound example is absolute perfection. Love how you're using the noise to actually explore something creative as opposed to just mindlessly knowb-twiddling.
Amazing video. I never wanted the songs to end. You played a selection of my absolute favourite songs, and put a really interesting and pleasant spin on all of them. Really cool pedal.
This was fantastic as always. All examples were great, I was smiling when I heard the strokes but I absolutely loved the last loop mixed with "All tomorrow's parties", That was a piece of art. Hats off to you!
I bought an old transistor radio from a charity shop for 3 dollars. I plugged it in a reverb through the headphone input and then into the low sens input of my amp. I plug my guitar in the high sens input of the same amp and get amazing results. Running the radio through other pedals[ ring modulators, low pass filters, bit crushers and so on] give me great results with pedals i already own and wouldn't spend time witn so as to familiarize myself with them and get the most out of them, if i kept buying every novelty pedal that was released no matter how good it is, or no matter how much i think i need it.
I love how you said things are about to get advanced with frequency modulation and then explained it in the easiest way to understand possible. Wiggle adjustments. Now please excuse me while I go catch up on the news on my wiggle adjuster.
Thanks so much for this. My Roger That arrived today and I've been having a lot of fun making very unpleasant noises with it. I can say that the CV input can be controlled with my horrible old Behringer FCV expression pedal or better still my OBNE expression ramper...
good ears, yeah that was some very cool and unexpected side effect of the pedal. Even though I dialed out most of its FM radio weirdness for the Slayer song, that weird thing still crept in. It's possible you could lose it with a lower setting on the Shift knob, but I was really into it.
Your music is amazing, especially the sound clip after tip #4 just sounds so incredible. Really good stuff. Would sit and listen to a fully fledged song like that all day
thank you. my original music is here if you want to check it out, really appreciate the comment in any case though: cyberattack.bandcamp.com/album/hard-feelings
Great pedal, great demo, and amazing explanation during pro tip 3. Fairfield are the best, I have the Hors d'œuvre and the Unpleasant Surprise. I wish they made stereo ins and outs versions for synths
I'm glad. That was the hardest pro-tip to put together, trying to find a way of explaining it that was accurate but fairly short, and also the illustrations and everything. Glad it was helpful, thanks for checking out the video.
@@CyberattackWorld Definitely man - subbed right after viewing! I don't doubt that it was a challenge to put that section together, but I would definitely point people interested in what this pedal actually does to your video, so kudos. Did you ever try the Barbershop overdrive from FC? I've had one for a few years and love it. Wondering how similar the JFET drive here is to that one (for context, I've been running my acoustic with passive soundhole pickup into ODs and fuzzes trying to find my favorite "blown our preamp with tape saturation" recreation)
@@ben_moy thanks dude. I did end up getting a Barbershop after this video and I'm a big fan. I think it's definitely similar to the Roger That, but even when the Roger That is set to be as stable as possible, it still has some extra weirdness and motion that the Barbershop doesn't. But I would say they're related. I spend some time talking about the Barbershop in this video if you're curious: ua-cam.com/video/Mpc9tCnP7Bo/v-deo.htmlsi=j5GCCskST8E5ZCe6
@@CyberattackWorld Very helpful - thanks so much! Great tip about thickening things up with multiple tracks -- even those high gain monsters like Corgan got the massive sound by layering guitars more than cranking gain. I still never would have expected Slayer with a Barbershop--that was sick. I was peeping the ~900 fuzz from FC, too, but I honestly think my cheapo DOD Carcosa covers the amount of "hair" I want.. I think Roger That would be a funky overdrive live and a noisemaker on records.. Thanks again!
Ivan, this was especially clever. The looped D major for All Tomorrow's Parties was great. Maybe I've heard John Cale's viola one too many times, because you freshened that melody up. I'm not telling you what to add to your live act or recordings, but I'd pay to see that live.
I have 3 pedals I'd love some pro tips on. Ehx Attack/Decay, Pigtronix Mothership 2, and the Ehx Superego plus. The last being the one that intrigues me the most. I put a footswitch on the floor to control the 4 freeze modes. This is a very valuable channel as all the recognizable names I see leaving comments would attest to! Thanks
The four eyes crossover fuzz is sadly discontinued. It’s my favourite fuzz of all time. It’s a multiband clipper that allows you to adjust clipping in separate frequencies. Your input signal is split into separate frequencies and remixed after you set the amount of clipping on each frequency. A sweep pot allows you to adjust/set the eq resonance for a huge expanse of frequencies. This pot is also CV controllable so it can be used as a mutant wah. Hopefully they reissue this unit. It’s worth hunting a used one down.
Incredible sound and awesome Tips bro, thanks a lot. This sound on tips #2 is trully amazing, incredible riff in a rare savage disto type, the bass sound fit it like perfection, very impressed. Fantastic video. I'd love to get that pedal, fairfield as one of my fav pedal brand, shallow water, meet maude and barber one are on top ! What is that amazing guitar ?? I was searchin an offset one, smthg between the Rivolta and PureSalem types that are pretty good and relatively cheap... The mood is an amazing pedal too ! Well done. Suscribed !

Can we be friends, I feel we could benefit from each other. You're so good at stop motion! Ahhhh we are going to be friends! I feel it. Keep it up, Im going to binge watch your videos now. Thanks
I too would like a how to be advanced on the ehx attack decay. I have been using it for quite a while but I m sure I m missing something. Ps your videos are fun and informative.
off the top of my head, i'm sure one of my pro-tips would be to make each note as short as possible with instant decay. i talk about what you can do with a sound like that in pro-tip #3 of this video if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/_lc3x6YMQJk/v-deo.html
Have you run it in front of the Microcosm? I'm looking for a fun / weird distortion, but want it to get along with the Microcosm. I'm sure they can be tweaked to play well in plenty of ways, but thought it couldn't hurt to ask in case there is some fundamental conflict I might not be aware of. Great stuff as usual. Thanks!
Hello dearest, How much voltage is safe to send to the cv innput? Is it safe to send an envelope or lfo from Dreadbox pedals? -7 to +7 i think they send.
Does anyone know if the Roger That CV input requires a three prong (tip/ring/sleeve) connection or would it still operate with a two prong (tip/sleeve) connection? Asking for me.
hi, i came over here from the nice cute harp lady Emily ;) the part 2 where you played the riff got me^^ this distortion sound u created is on point what i like most speacialy in work with stoner sound ;) i will maybe try to recreate the sound in a way on ableton an send it through some psy fm leads/riffs^^ hope this will fit in a new track;) got a new follower and a big thumbs up .... greetings from northern germany
It really is doing the frequency modulation (and demodulation), but nothing ever travels anywhere as a radiowave through the air, nor is there a tiny antenna anywhere inside the pedal, so nothing is being broadcast in that sense.
@@CyberattackWorld Very cool. Just ordered it. :) Now I just have to see if the Zoia will let me CV control the Tune knob like I want to. Good video! Thanks! :)
Came back to this video after a year, because the roger that keeps intriguing me. Do you, or someone else, have experience with the Koma electronics Kommander? And if that could work with the CV input on the roger that…would be cool to manipulate the tune knob with a gesture controller like the Koma.

I’m extremely relieved to hear you say that because I worried that entire part was confusing and boring
Thinking about intermittent noise/distortion as sonic glare is blowing my mind, what a beautiful observation
