I just started using the Osmo Pocket for my running videos. The size, weight, gimbal, 4k, and longer recording times fills lots of buckets for my needs. Nice review.
It's not worth the money.. Wait until a few more failed versions of the osmo pocket has passed. It's poorly designed and has many technical issues. Also it doesn't work with Adobe editing software.
At 5:52 you say it can create 4k timelapse/motionlapse sequences, but unfortunately it can only create these in 1080p. At least on retail units today. It might be that you had a reviewer firmware which apparently had more features than the initial firmware on retail units. Can you confirm please?
Hi Tom, please how can I set up the camera to active track myself and then go for 5-6 metres far from it? In your video is it in time about 6:10. Thank you
Now the question is : are the videos splitted in 4GB files like with the Gopro ? It would be a huge deal for those who make long video shots like me because that means we can upload directly without post prod. Anyway great review ! I subscribe
Have you tried using a USB-C to 3.5MM jack (audio) adapter to see if an external microphone will work? I'm definitely curious if this is an option before DJI releases their mic adapter.
I haven't seen anyone with indoor or night time footage yet - This would be great for a travel & food show that we are working on... if it can shoot reasonably well in indoor or night time available light situations.
So outside of a gimbal , is it worth the $$$ when compared to one of the latest Iphones paired with apps to get the fancier modes? I have used phone gimbals and they do the job but are bulky and heavy. Is the video coming from this little unit as good or better than your phone? And how does it compare to one of its big brothers , namely the Osmo and the Osmo plus ?
Great video...I picked up an Ozmo pocket to use in the casinos when I record my slot machine play...The small size doesn't draw much attention and the gimbal smooths out the videos...I'm still thinking about getting an ozmo action but not sure I need it.....lol...Thanks again...
Hey look, it’s Bookshitter!! (the local nickname of that statue 😎) Cam looks awesome, I want one! Thanks Tom for the super fast and very complete review! Much appreciated!!Cheers!!
Tom I noticed some pretty severe strobing or flickering in time-lapse mode. My guess is this is happening because of the high shutter speed. Lower shutter speeds make for smoother time-lapse. Hope ND filters are available for the Osmo Pocket soon. thanks;
This has convinced me further that I want to purchase this befote my next travel adventure. I do youtube and this would greatly improve my vlogs as I usually do trekking up mountains and across other rough terrain and if I try to do any vliggin while moving it is super shaky even when i do my best to stabilize it. This is so discreet better for busy public areas too. Thabks for the great review has deal the deal for me 👍👍👍
Good idea for using safety strap while videoing.loop strap around silver part of adapter and slide it on to your camera it traps in place perfectly and you can leave it on in the case
I like it, but... it would have been nice if they had mounted the Hasselblad camera from the Mavic 2 Pro so that I wouldn't have to buy another set of filters, Come on DJI, I love you but need some interchangeablility.
I’m curious.... for a gimbal to articulate it requires “free space” to spin and such.. so to inclose a gimbal in a watertight case would require it to have a decent size pocket of air.. how will the Osmo Pocket not be constantly pulling towards the surface?
one extra accessory it has is a gopro type 2-prong mount in some sort of skeleton cage. you would then need a gopro to tripod mount adapter to be able to mount it to a tripod. as one option.
Thank for the review.. I am very keen to the dji osmo pocket, but I am afraid of auto focus (that it seems to have) and also automatic iso. Is it possible to set the iso to what i want it to be without connecting it to the phone?
Can you answer how this does in high speed applications? I’d like to mount on the wing of my aircraft which cruises at 250km/hr. Do you think this could handle the speed, maybe with the waterproof case?
Hey, what is the maximum recording time in one go? because my last action cams always shut down after 5 to 10 minutes, which is not enough for a downhill by bike.
No. I highly doubt a gimbal this size would hold up. let alone the built-in battery and the need for a case, which actually gets int the way of your footage and messes up the audio.
hey Tom, so it shoots 4k video, question is, in order to watch the recorded 4k quality, the video needs to be on a 4k supported device? or can you see that quality on phones like Samsung note 8?
So it's pretty clear to me now that I've watched several videos on the DJI pocket, which I did pre-order, DJI gave these reviewers these units with the stipulation of not testing low light. Every camera reviewed usually the first thing they look at is how it handles low light and there are more than enough reviews out there with no low light examples to give me pause about its capability. Also being a osmo plus owner it worries because that device while very useful fell apart in low light and to my understanding this is using a mavic sensor and the plus is using a P4 sensor which is a step above
what would the recorded sound quality be like for if I took this to record a concert or my niece at a dance competition where I would not be within arms length of what I am recording? as you only mention the mic being good for VLOGGING but I do not do that and wanting to use this for everything but vlogging
That looks so great. However, since I already had Gopro 7 black, I m thinking about just buying a gimbal to use when it comes to low light condition or I just should go get this one. Quite a challenge decision to make Iol
Very nice and through video, good work! Can DJI Osmo Pocket do FB/UA-cam live streaming with or without mobile phone attached to it? It would be nice to see a comparison video of Osmo Pocket vs Osmo Mobile 2 (and if possible Ronin-S). Thanks.
Wow I never see this ...before .. but this so great camera.. I watched your video so cool 😎😎😎😎😎😎.. you talk as so awesomely.. yeah.. yes I will buy it ..thanks for show about this DJI OSMO POCKET.. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎 thank you.. peace ! Have a nice day !
+Tom's Tech Time Ughh, 25fps is incompatible with 30/60fps monitors causing the monitor to wait 5 times per second. The resulting judder makes it difficult to tell if the gimbal is shaky or your video is at fault.
Only the digital ones not filmed on "Film." Streaming sites like Netflix apply their version of a 3:2 pulldown to smooth "Films" playing on a standard 30/60fps monitor or TV, some high-end sets have a version of the pulldown under the manufacturer's copyrighted system name.

Tom's Tech Time why would i attach a worse camera to my iPhone?
Dad Random because it’s a mechanical gimbal.. duh 💁🏼♂️

Finally, finally someone has explained this camera for me in an easy way so I can follow.
I just started using the Osmo Pocket for my running videos. The size, weight, gimbal, 4k, and longer recording times fills lots of buckets for my needs. Nice review.
7:17 hi Tom, thanks for good Video, is the dj pocket 2 have this story mode? Thank you 🙏
Awesome review as usual, Tom! DJI always produce products that I want....gosh to my wallet.......😭

Hi tom! Nice video!
What external mic are you using with osmo pocket in 7:52 - 8:32 ?
Thanks!
wow, this product looks amazing. What about low light? I would love to be able to use this for weddings and architecture videos
Hi Tom, please how can I set up the camera to active track myself and then go for 5-6 metres far from it? In your video is it in time about 6:10. Thank you
The best review I hv ever watched of osmo pocket, short and to the point 👌
A must have tools for travel......nice review...Thank You
4K at 60fps?! I’m sold
How did you manage to select yourself for auto-tracking? Selfy mode? A miror? Another person selected you on the screen?

Amazing video, but do u recomend buy this camera for youtube as well , or canon is better?
Is that an Osmo in your pocket or are you happy to see me??
Haha 😆
Beat me to it lol
It took me 10 secs to get it, HAHA
No, it's just a dead POS... That doesn't do at least half of what they advertise.
Old joke.
Good review, thanks. Have you filmed air show while traveling?
Awesome, thanks for review! When hooked to the phone,- does it uses phone battery,or just his own?
Pretty sure my backyard footage is going to be just as epic as Venice
Can I live stream to Facebook pages (not personal pages) with this?
Have you tried using a USB-C to 3.5MM jack (audio) adapter to see if an external microphone will work? I'm definitely curious if this is an option before DJI releases their mic adapter.
Does it provide a usb -B adapter? Do you need to have it connected with a smartphone to start up/before 1st run/ set a camera ? ?
Whoa!! Why does the audio sound good in this video??!
I wondered the same thing. Other reviews for the pocket have terrible audio. Maybe he did not do a test in noisy environments.
Probably because he was paid to do this "review"
He replied further down that ONLY the last Vlog shot was recorded with the internal mic on the cam
@@CgBrian 8 min into the video upper right hand corner states no external mic used , so what am I missing ?
The Sky Pod oh.. I saw a post a few down where he said the whole last shot only please.. I’ll have to look for it.. but yea now I’m confused
hi, nice video, which camcorder you used for filming your hands with the product, thanks.
I haven't seen anyone with indoor or night time footage yet - This would be great for a travel & food show that we are working on... if it can shoot reasonably well in indoor or night time available light situations.

Stunning tech to fit in such a small size. Also it might be great for journalists in challenging locations where bulky gear is a problem.
Nice video man love it 😍
your audio sounds very very different to other videos I have seen. is that really the original unedited audio?
Very, very good video with lots of info. Would you say this could replace the Osmo 2 mobile?

How did you do the hyperlapse at 06:03? Cause it seems to zoom out/move back
Nice video detailed specific.........Can you do a comparison video osmo and Go pro hero 7 black
They nailed it. Looks fantastic
That's cool. Subscribed mate
This helped so much, but is there a way to connect an external mic to the camera, or is the internal mic that good
Hope to see a test against Gopro hero 7 black
There are a lot of tests out there already. Osmo kicks gopro so hard haha
Hi Tom, how do you move the camera lens up and down without using the sebarately available dji osmo pocket wheel - which is about 59 Euros?!
I like it, but... it would have been nice if they had mounted the Hasselblad camera from the Mavic 2 Pro so that I wouldn't have to buy another set of filters, Come on DJI, I love you but need some interchangeablility.
Then you'd lose the 4k/60
Yes, I agree with Blake: you'd probably lose the 60FPS with a 10-bit Hasselblad camera and I LOVE the 60FPS... I'm happy! :)
I’m sure that will be out next year

And it would cost another $100-200. I’ll bet if it’s a winner, you’ll see a Pocket Plus down the road with the 1” sensor.

Great review! Does it support to capture 360x180 sphere panorama automatically?

hey Tom, so it shoots 4k video,

Were the motionlapse and timelapse demos done using a tripod? They still seem quite blurry.
