The first few movies based on video games didn’t exactly give a great reputation to the genre. However the fourth video game movie to ever be made was Mortal Kombat, and it didn’t do too poorly at the box office-- meaning that the FIFTH video game movie ever made was a sequel! It… it wasn’t great.
Mortal Kombat Annihilation raises a ton of questions. Like why did a bunch of the original actors quit? Why were the events of the first movie undone in just a few seconds? Why are is there an underground hamster ball network all of a sudden? Who hired these actors? Why do all the dead characters have identical brothers? What’s with that mud wrestling scene? Did a cameraman just attack Liu Kang?!

Off to a great and accurate start, to be sure.
Kinda weird that he opened with that and proceeded to spend several minutes explaining the story...

I mean, to be fair, 8yo me didn't care either and just wanted blue/yellow ninja flippy kicks.
At least Scorpion's made sense. Even in the first movie he had the skull under the mask, implying that he's some kind of undead being.
Sub-Zero was just to show the unmasked version from MK3. I think they treated it like a different character for the movie because money.
@@wesleyoldham-cartoonsandtv1962 There are 2 Sub-Zeros and they are in fact brothers. The first one, however, does die and becomes Noob-Saibot (The black shadow ninja). Thats when his brother takes the Title of Sub-Zero. The good Sub-Zero is the one with the scar. It would have been better if they actually Brough Noob-Saibot into this film.

@@GODOFAWSOMENESS1 I do not recall a crystal. There was the concept of the planet having a spirit called Gaia, which very VERY loosely correlates to the life stream in FF7, but that's about as close as it gets... Oh, and there was a scientist named Cid.
Daxyl the movie I saw had a giant crystal in the earth. I think the hero became a part of it.

I feel Ryan could have spent about 3 more minutes talking about the CGI, which would be longer than the total amount that the CGI team spent
Doing cgi with a shoestring budget in the 90s probably wasnt that easy.

That movie makes face transplants seem super easy, barely an inconvenience. By the end of the movie they've swapped faces more than once, and they never even have any bruising, swelling, stitches, or scars. Not even a recovery period.

Raiden against the Reptiles has to be one of the funniest scenes ever, besides the fact that no one is getting hit, you can see Raiden's stunt double face all the time, it's hilarious.

Christopher Lambert wouldn't return, and he did those Highlander sequels. Hey I never saw Speed 2, but Keanu Reeves didn't return and he did those Matrix sequels
He and Sean Connery were contractually obligated to do Highlander 2. Which they both disowned before the film was even released. They knew how bad it was.

But you know, when your first movie's premise is "There can be only one" and at the end there is only one, maybe, just maybe, movie-wise, there should only be one ;)
@@dreamlandnightmare The Matrix sequels were infinitely better than the Highlander sequels. The only redeeming factor of the Highlander sequels are the individual actors in them such as Chistopher Lambert, Michael Ironside, Mario Van Peebles, Virginia Madsen, and Mako.

For the "too bad you, will die" line. You should've read the line on the page, but turns out "too bad you" was the final 3 words of the first page. Then flip to the next page to finish with "will die".
