    I cannot thank you enough for this video! I get so nervous traveling in big cities, and especially when it's totally foreign to me. We are arriving at odd times and i'm so grateful to you for this valuable information to help us be prepared and know what to expect!!!

    This is exceedingly helpful; I often find myself avoiding public transit just from the anxiety of not knowing how to use it.

    I've been watching "know before you go" videos for weeks now and yours was the clearest and best prep video to use the vaporetto. Now if I can talk you into doing one for Rome, I'd be all set! :P Thank you for doing these!

      Yeah this woulda been great to watch before I went, I just said "Well I'm gonna mess up and maybe get lost so lets not plan much the first night" and right I was lmao. 2 hours later I figured it out and got to the hotel, but never struggled once after that

    It been some years, but we found the vaporetto system very easy to use. Used it to visit Torcello (highly recommended), Burano, and Murano. Actually, we found intercity travel by train and bus very easy throughout Italy. If you’re considering a trip to Venice, I suggest finding a hotel convenient to a vaporetto stop, saves lugging your suitcases through the crowds.

    This is how you do a step by step…always use UA-cam to ‘see’ how to navigate transit points like train stations, airports, etc…few are this good. Great concept to use question and answer, too. Well done…and we arrive at Zaccaria tomorrow. Thanks

    I just got back from Italy, and trying to understand the vaporetto system was the most confusing part of the trip. It almost seems as though it is intentionally confusing. Many of the boats don’t have the routes displayed, and some boats don’t have which line they are displayed on the outside. It’s a great way to see the city, but bring plenty of patience and time with you. Trying to understand the nuances of the route map was a lost cause for me. Thanks for trying to make some of this understandable.

    Ciao. We were in Venice on our Honeymoon 38 years ago. We took the water taxis's. They were so Italian. They all had a name. The Rapido, was the non rapido, it was the slowest of all the water taxis. The Directo, was the indirecto. Its made all stops and was the slowest getting to our destination. The Accelerator, was the non accelerator. It was a complete dog and took forever to get up to speed. If you want to take your wife on a Gondola ride and not spend a lot, they have communal gondolas that criss cross the canals. The fun ones are the ones that you had to stand up in, making the crossing. Andiamo!!

Our suggestion, as we recommended other viewers who asked about cruise terminals, is to ask the cruise company directly about transportation, because they are definitely more familiar with all the possible connections. In general, Marghera can be reached by bus from Piazzale Roma.

    I am planning on going to Venice in July so this video is very helpful. Couple of questions: 1) If I buy 1 day ticket, does that mean i don't need to get another when I return to Santa Lucia station same day? The same ticket is valid both ways?
    2) We need to get the train in St. Lucia to Florence at 16:20 (this is going to be in July), what time do you suggest getting the vaporetto in SaN Marco Square to St. Lucia train station? How is the way back? Do you have a video showing your return to St. Lucia station? Thank you doing this video!

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  Рік тому +1

      Hi Fabiana, thank you for your comment.
      1) exactly, the 1-day ticket allows you to ride any vaporetto in any direction for 24 hours from the first validation.
      2) we don't have a video of us coming back to the station, but keep in mind that the vaporetto from S.Zaccaria (the main S.Marco stop) takes about 30 min to the station. If we were you, we would try to get on the 15.30 vaporetto at the latest, to give you time to find the correct train platform; also, if you see that the stop is too crowded and you can't make it on that vaporetto, you still have time to walk to the Rialto stop or even walk all the way back to the station (about 35 min walk).

    7:31 A quick question... I’m a bit confused about the process here. Once I scan my ticket, can I head to the “B” platform and then make my way to the cube? I want to take the B night line to Rialto. I’m also noticing that some people are waiting around-do you know if there’s a specific reason for this or something I should be aware of? Thanks for any help you can offer!

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi, you'll scan your ticket at the specific dock/platform, because once you pass through the gates, you're at that specific dock. We're not sure what the B night line is (the ACTV lines are all numbers, except for N, the night line). One explanation for people waiting around could be that the actual dock may give you a bit of seasickness, so they wait for the vaporetto to arrive before they move to the actual dock.

    • @NomadCitello
      @NomadCitello  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for your comment! Standard vaporetto lines usually operate until 10-11 pm, afterwards there are night lines which have more limited routes but operate all night. Take a look at our video about walking in Venice - unless you're staying in Lido or Giudecca, you're probably going to walk most of the time, and Venice is very safe at night as well!
