Venice Public Transport (Vaporetto) - What to know before you go
My wife and I will be in Venice for 3 days of a 14 day vacation and will have our 5 year old with us. I am worried about luggage. We have heard to travel light but a 14 day vacation makes that very difficult. How much luggage can the Alilaguna carry?
Hi, yes, we see how that would be a concern. Alilaguna states that every adult is allowed 1 suitcase and 1 carry-on luggage on board; the child travels for free until 5 yo.
Thank you so much. I'm getting stressed planning our journey and this video has been sooo helpful. Best video yet on travelling around venice. I'm very visual, so seeing before I arrive really helps. Ace video
great!
I'm about to do a solo trip to Venice for 1 week, and this video was excellent to prepare me for the vaporetto! Thank you so much for making it!
This was excellent information in a very easy to understand video. I will refer to it as my visit gets closer. Thanks!
Thank you! As i do my own research can you recommend a link where you can purchase a single ticket that will get you into all the museums in Venice. We are visiting for 10 days in April 2025. Grazia! Maria
Hi Maria, thank you for your comment! The official website www.veneziaunica.it is your best bet to buy transport and museum passes. Just FYI, the entry ticket will be activated again starting April 18, we'll keep the channel posted about all the details! Enjoy your trip!
This couple are cool , informative
So thorough thank you for advice
So, so relieved I found this! Thank you 😮💨
just use google maps?!
You'd be surprised how bad Google maps fail in Venice, sometimes 😅
I can understand the need for an access fee but to have to enter all of the personal details DOES border on WWII - type controls. No need to have to input names, etc. What is the reason for having to enter personal info??
It's actually in line with what already happens whenever you stay in a hotel, and your ID is copied and sent to the police station for security records. Or when a foreigner enters the US (for example) and has their photo and fingerprints recorded in the system. It's also in line with events such as concerts in Italy, where each ticket is personal and you need to give all that personal info if you want access to the event.
Is it possible to get the Vaporetto there and back on one ticket and have time to go up the tower?
Theoretically yes, since the vaporetto ticket is valid for 75 minutes, but it depends on timetables and how crowded it gets.
@@NomadCitello Thank you, maybe it is best to get 2 tickets just in case we can’t get back and then if not needed , use the 2nd ticket another day?
Absolutely, yes!
Thank you for your detailed instructions and showing us how to proceed when we arrive in Venice!
Enjoyed watching this on my train to Venice. Thanks.
Love the step by step guide! Very handy! Thanks for doing this!
How do you use the ACTV Pass after youve claimed it from the machine (how do you use the little machine when getting on?)
Hi, you just tap it on the machine and wait until you see the green light, which means your ticket is validated. In our video you can see Luna doing just that before boarding the vaporetto.
Thank you for this video as I find it useful. ❤ Is it the same thing if I want to get from the airport to the city?
Hi, thank you for your comment! Check out our video "arriving in Venice" for the options from the airport, as it's a bit different and you have more options.
Thank you very much for this video. I was very helpful!
This was so useful to me today. Thank you - it was a huge help.
Thank you for your very informative videos! Your calm, clear approach to each topic makes your videos very enjoyable!
❤

Thank you for sharing 😉👍
Hi, Interesting and useful video. Please make more on the subject and other similar. One note: look at the camera, next time, not at the ceiling. ;-) Thank you - looking forward to more videos and to visit Venice... Cheers!
She forgot to say 120€ for the taxi
That's a water taxi you're thinking about. Regular taxis have fixed rates from the airport: 35€ to Mestre, 45€ to Piazzale Roma.
Nice and Clear! The best Venice information Videos you made!
Amazing! Thank you!❤❤
Thank you very much. The video & guides are very useful. My only worry is the "easy to get lost" statement mentioned several times. May Allah (God) us on our visit to Venice. Thanks again.
Hugely helpful guys. Thank you!
Great info! I will be in Venice mid September, so I went to the website and it says that the registration period has closed. Does that mean I don’t need the voucher during this time?
Hi, yes, that's correct. The experimentation for 2024 ended in July.
7:31 A quick question... I’m a bit confused about the process here. Once I scan my ticket, can I head to the “B” platform and then make my way to the cube? I want to take the B night line to Rialto. I’m also noticing that some people are waiting around-do you know if there’s a specific reason for this or something I should be aware of? Thanks for any help you can offer!
Hi, you'll scan your ticket at the specific dock/platform, because once you pass through the gates, you're at that specific dock. We're not sure what the B night line is (the ACTV lines are all numbers, except for N, the night line). One explanation for people waiting around could be that the actual dock may give you a bit of seasickness, so they wait for the vaporetto to arrive before they move to the actual dock.
Cool! Thanks! Great info that will surelly come in handy! Tour agencies charge premium prices on a boat trip that will you yourself may buy fror a fraction of the price, especcially with a venice card. Yey!
Getting lost in a Good way! Sweet! Thanks!
Sweet! Thanks!
Thanks for the video!! We are taking a 9 day cruise in October but have 3 days to explore Venice prior to the cruise. We will definitely do this water bus
This is the best video I have seen on public transportation in Venice. Thank you
Excellent video.
The website is saying “The Access Fee Application Period has ended for 2024” and it won’t let me put in August dates? This is for a facility exemption request.
That's right, it has ended: in 2024 the experimentation ended in July, they've yet to announce the schedule for 2025.
Love the video!...Planning a trip to Venice for the first time in November. Great valuable information. Thank you both very much ❤
so helpful! I am not used to a city without uber, etc. and having to take boats!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I'm 67 years old and love rowing on my Concept 2 RowErg. I had never been to Venice before last month and was there on May 19. I was thrilled to see several people rowing in the Grand Canal and in a side canal. Once home I googled about rowing in Venice on your own and up popped information about Vogalonga! I'd never heard of it before and was so grateful that I just happened to be there at the right time. I loved your video so much! The 360 degrees is awesome! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to row in Venice during the Vogalonga through your video!
That's great. Thanks for the comment. It's really great to hear that you enjoyed it. It took a lot of work, but we love making videos like this to share those experiences.
This video was exactly what I was looking for in my research. I love how you showed the actual view of leaving the train station and seeing the grand canal. I have no experience in Venice and this is what I needed to visualize my steps.
Amazing- thank you for this info
❤

For "C" what do the 4.1 and 5.1 mean?
Hi, thank you for your comment. 4.1 and 5.1 are two vaporetto lines, just like line 1 or 2.
Thank you for your time making these informative posts. Can you share info about public restrooms in Venice, Italy.
Hello, thank you for your comment. Check out the interactive restroom map here: wctoilettevenezia.com/mappa-bagni/?lang=en Just make sure to have some change on you, as they often only accept coins!
This vdo very help me😊
Your video was great, it helped us a great deal, but be warned if you want to use the Vapor Etta, we had to wait for sometimes, the 2nd or 3rd ferry, as it was totally full to the point of a human crush. Some people were getting very distressed. It’s not a comfortable ride, but Morano was lovely and not crushed, so go there
Thank you so much !
