I have been watching many videos about Venice for the last couple of weeks but this video just stands out as the best and by a long margin. this is the format of the videos that all travel vloggers should be making
This is such a helpful video, perfect, exactly what first-time visitors to Venice need to watch - wish I'd have watched it before going for the first time a few weeks ago!

This video was exactly what I was looking for in my research. I love how you showed the actual view of leaving the train station and seeing the grand canal. I have no experience in Venice and this is what I needed to visualize my steps.
Thanks Luna and Nick. The videos are great - very straight forward and chock full of information. We'll make use of the info in the fall when we visit.
These are the best Venice videos on UA-cam and I've watched them all! Thank you for the great information, production value, and cool editing/graphics, super helpful.
Very useful information here. When I was in Venice I stayed at a hotel further out than Mestre, it was called Quarto di altino. I'll know for next time.
Thank you so much for these informative videos! My husband and I are traveling to Venice for the first time in a couple weeks and I feel so much more prepared now after watching these. I was very intimidated by the uniqueness of this destination but now I just feel excited :)
Really good info on the public transportation, but personally I prefer taking a private water taxi from the airport. It's going to run you about 150 euros at this point, but if you have 2-4 people it's not that unreasonable. It's much faster and the private water taxi will take you as close to your hotel as they can get via water -- often right to the hotel's canal entrance. That means no carrying of luggage which is a big deal in Venice since the bridges are usually steps not ramps. Added bonus is that your first look at the city will be much more enchanting.
Just wondering why you haven’t talk about ATVO bus…I heard that using ATVO bus and vaporetto #2, is the fastest way to arrive at Venice…any comments? Thank you and great job guys!
Hi Sophie, thank you for your comment! ATVO is one of the coach companies that connect the airport to Venice, just like Flixbus for example. We didn't mention it because it takes as long as the Aerobus, the only difference being the comfort (the coach has more comfortable seats, air conditioning etc); we didn't want the video to be too long :) As for vaporetto n.2, it really depends on your destination in Venice (check out our public transport video for more details), it's just one of many water bus lines in the city.
Hi, in the video description you'll find a link to the ACTV website, where you can check all the vaporetto routes. Google Maps is also quite accurate for vaporetto routes!
Hello, would like to know if I reach at marco polo airport at midnight 12 what way of transport do i need to choose and which area is better to spend the night in terms of hotel as We dont want to get lost on our first day and as there are no taxis and other transport. Please let us know
Hello Pavithra, thank you for your comment. We have recently landed at the airport around midnight, and there are several taxis (regular ones, not water taxis) waiting outside the main entrance of the terminal. We've chosen to get a taxi and spend the night in downtown Mestre because it was more convenient than getting into Venice at night and having to walk to our accommodation. Any hotel near the airport or in downtown Mestre would be a good solution for your first night, too!
So incredibly helpful! Love you guys. Our hotel is really close to San Zaccaria. If we want to take an alilaguna to our hotel, do we need to book ahead or just get tickets when we get off our plane?
Thank you, Lyla! It doesn't really matter, so do whatever gives you more peace of mind: if you prefer to have the tickets ready ahead of time, buy them online; if you'd rather have the physical ticket, buy them at the vending machines in the baggage claim area (there's a short on our channel that shows the machines).
Very helpful video! We will arrive at the airport and stay in Venice a week. We will then travel to Aviano. Seems we will get to experience all the modes of transportation. We will be in Italy a month and go to and from Aviano (where our son lives). We hope to visit Rome, Florence and many other places each week over that month with their home being our weekend home base. Any tips?
Hi, it sounds like you will have some time to explore! You'll probably travel mostly by train to/from Aviano, but check Flixbus schedules as well, there's a chance they have routes through Aviano too!
Thank you so much for the very informative videos. I have been watching a lot of videos and these are my favorite! My family of 5 are traveling to Venice from the Marco Polo airport in July. We were thinking to get a round trip ticket on the Alilaguna to Fondamente Nuove. But I heard that the Alilaguna is very slow. Do you think it is faster to catch the bus to Piazzale Roma and then take waterbus no. 1 to the Ca' D'Oro stop. My concern is more on the return trip so that we won't miss our departure at the airport. Any input you have would be appreciated. Thank you!
I think that the bus PLUS Vaporetto or the bus PLUS a walk to your hotel will take longer than Alilaguna. If it's the right time of day, I strongly recommend the Alilaguna. Nothing compares to arriving in Venice by boat. The city is meant to be seen and appreciated from the water. The view of the city as you arrive by boat is the best way to start your trip. And if your hotel/apartment is very close to an Alilaguna platform like Fondamente Nove, there's no question. If you take the bus, then walk to your hotel, you're going be dealing with crowds. If you take the bus, then transfer to the vaporetto, there are still crowds. And the vaporetto is not fast. Getting from the bus stop to your hotel with heavy luggage will be the worst part of your trip to Venice. Even more if you're traveling with kids. The ONLY time I do not use Alilaguna is when my flight is very early in the morning and it won't get me to the airport on time. If your flight is that early, you might have to walk to Piazzale Roma and get a (normal street) Taxi. If you have it in your budget, and if it's normal daytime hours, you can easily catch a private WATER Taxi from the airport to Venice. That's the best, but pretty expensive. Water Taxis are generally easy to find at the airport (follow the signs for Water Transport, the same for Alilaguna). But, I would NOT recommend that you book a water taxi to pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Airport. I've found that to be very unreliable.
I really like your videos. Clear and understandable. However I have missed one information so far. We are going to arrive to Venice via ferry from Patras. It would be nice to see covered that way as well. I see we can use vaporetto line 16 to go into the city, but it seems a little bit special to other vaporetto lines. Normal tickets not valid for them. Is there anything special we need to know?
Thank you for your comment, we are definitely thinking about content related to the cruise ships and ferries. Line 16 connects Venice and Fusina, but we struggled quite a bit to find any relevant information about ticket prices on the ACTV website, so we opened a ticket 🤦🏻♀️ Stay tuned for the resolution, we'll comment when we know more!
Cool! Thanks! Great info that will surelly come in handy! Tour agencies charge premium prices on a boat trip that will you yourself may buy fror a fraction of the price, especcially with a venice card. Yey!
My wife and I will be in Venice for 3 days of a 14 day vacation and will have our 5 year old with us. I am worried about luggage. We have heard to travel light but a 14 day vacation makes that very difficult. How much luggage can the Alilaguna carry?
Hi, yes, we see how that would be a concern. Alilaguna states that every adult is allowed 1 suitcase and 1 carry-on luggage on board; the child travels for free until 5 yo.
Thank you very much for your videos. Our son, my husband and I, will be in Venice in 3 weeks. We are arriving by train and after I watched your video about transportation in Venice, we decided to purchase a 48 hour water bus tickets since we want to be able to go to Murano , Burano and just hop in and out in Venice. This is our first time in Venice so I have a question that it might be silly but once we get off at the closest vaporetto station, we need to walk to our Airbnb? We had the reservation and the address of our apt. But how I know which vaporetto station is the closest?
Hello Claudia, thank you for your comment. Yes, once you get off the vaporetto you'll have to walk to the Airbnb. You can check the address on Google maps or Moovit, and see what route those apps recommend from the train station; we also suggest asking the Airbnb host directly, they're definitely the most reliable source!
We went to Venice for a weekend a few weeks ago. I was robbed within and hour of arrival in the Piazzale Roma buying a ticket for the water taxi. Probably my own fault - I put my phone in my back pocket while I bought the ticket. It only took a few seconds so I thought I was safe. There was a woman hanging around. She jostled me from behind which I thought was odd but I didn't turn around and the phone was gone. Welcome to Venice. The police weren't interested. The girls behind the glass must have observed the scene but they looked blankly at me. Lesson learned.
Hello Gareth, thank you for sharing your experience and we're sorry you had to go through that. Unfortunately, all Italian cities have seen a rise in pickpockets, and there's little to nothing that the police can do to stop them, so they often give up entirely. We've had similar experiences in other European cities too, so it's always good to have extra precautions when visiting these famous destinations.
Hi there great video just wondering whats the earliest public boat from Venice as I'm flying at 9am so need to get to Venice airport around 7am. Never been before transport are bit different here. I'm thinking booking in February. Many thanks
Hi there, it really depends on where you're staying. One Alilaguna line (blue) gets you to the airport in time; otherwise, the best thing is to get the ATVO bus n.35 from Piazzale Roma, which runs even early in the morning.
@@NomadCitello OK brilliant thank you for your help I will check those time. Might be best to stay closer to transport. And walk to all the famous areas and places to see. Least be easyer to get to airport and back. Thanks again 👍
Thank you for your comment. If you're referring to the regular road taxi, the standard fare to Piazzale Roma is 40€; there might be extra fees for extra luggage/night rides. We recommend checking www.radiotaxivenezia.com for a detailed quote. As for the water taxi, they don't have fixed fares and we tried getting a quote from one of the many companies: 140€ to Piazzale Roma during the day.
Hi many thanks for the explanations I was looking to go by public bus and there seems to be an express bus every 30 mins line 35? Was there any reason you didn't mention this bus?
Hi, thank you for your comment. You might be referring to the ATVO coach service: it's a different, private company that also has routes to and from the airport. It's another option, just like Flixbus and other private companies; we just mentioned the public bus company because it's the same that manages all public transport in Venice.
Thank you for your video, it's very informative. We're going on a cruise after visiting Venice. Can you let us know what's the quick and easy way to take to go to the cruise port? Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi, as far as cruises are concerned, things are a bit complicated and constantly changing. We recommend contacting your cruise company directly, because each company has different procedures and leaves from different locations in and around Venice (depending on the size of the ship as well).
Thank you! You can board the Alilaguna boats at any of the stops along their routes, including the train station (blue line). The train station offers a lot of different routes with the regular water buses, so depending on where you have to go, the regular water bus might be more convenient than Alilaguna.
Hello Katy, you can choose to get the n.5 bus to Piazzale Roma or the Alilaguna boat (Orange line) to the Guglie stop. Either option requires some walking and bridge-crossing.
Hello, I'm arriving in Venice next month and I'm interested in a means of transport to travel for 3 days, more precisely a subscription for public transport. What do you recommend? Thank you.
Hello Raf, thank you for your comments. We recommend watching our other videos for info about walking around and using public transport; from Treviso airport, check www.atvo.it for bus timetables and tickets to Venezia Piazzale Roma. For local transportation in Venice, check out www.veneziaunica.it for multiple-day-tickets. Keep in mind that if you buy them at least a month in advance you'll save on the regular fares, and enjoy your trip!
Thank you so much for all of your helpful information. We are coming to Venice and have a very short stay so want to make the most of our time. How much time do you think a private water taxi vs the Aliliaguna would save us?(going to the Rialto stop)
Hi, that's a good question! Honestly we're not sure about it, as we're not very familiar with water taxis. Alilaguna takes 1 hour, on the other hand the water taxi could charge 130€ for that route, so consider that too.
Yep, as you see in some of our videos, Santa Croce is one of the neighborhoods of Venice. Piazzale Roma is the exact location, as you can check on any map.
Hi, if you're headed to the train station directly from the airport you can either go to Piazzale Roma (we explain in the video the options for that) and then walk to the train station; or, you can get bus #15 from the airport and get off at the Mestre train station. Any train ticket from Venice is valid for Santa Lucia and Mestre, whichever is more convenient.
Hello, first of all, thanks for the very informative videos about Venice. My family and I are planning to go to Venice on March 12th. How is the weather there in the middle of the month? I read some information online but I just wanted to know your experience during that time. Thank you :)
Hello Mohammad, thank you for your comment. Weather is really hard to predict these days, it's November and it still feels like spring or early summer! Usually, March can be still a bit cold but getting warmer - temperatures may go up to 15-18 degrees Celsius in our experience. But again, nobody can say for sure nowadays!
Hi, thank you for your comment! There are several car parks around Venice, depending on where you're staying. Our only advice, when you're looking for one on the maps, is to choose a car park in Mestre or before the Ponte della Libertà, as prices skyrocket once you cross the bridge and park in Tronchetto or Piazzale Roma. Hope this helps!

Hello for the Alilaguna is this expensive? Do you know the estimated ticket prices? Sorry if I misspelled this.
Hello, Alilaguna tickets at the moment are 15€ one way, 27€ return (airport to downtown Venice)

Ok thanks
Can I ask another question
From Venice to Trieste for cruise ship , should we take train or bus
Since you're staying near the train station, it's probably more convenient for you to take a train to Trieste.
Love the info
Can I take a water bus from the airport to Casa Santa Andrea? Or should I take a bus?
Hi, if you're referring to the accommodation in Piazzale Roma, you're better off taking the bus, since that's the final stop.
@@NomadCitello Casa sant Andrea in Santa Crose.
Yep, as you see in some of our videos, Santa Croce is one of the neighborhoods of Venice. Piazzale Roma is the exact location, as you can check on any map.
We are arriving at Marco Polo airport then leaving Venice via train to Florence what’s a best way to get to train station ?
Hi, if you're headed to the train station directly from the airport you can either go to Piazzale Roma (we explain in the video the options for that) and then walk to the train station; or, you can get bus #15 from the airport and get off at the Mestre train station. Any train ticket from Venice is valid for Santa Lucia and Mestre, whichever is more convenient.
Thank you
Very nice videos
Hello, first of all, thanks for the very informative videos about Venice. My family and I are planning to go to Venice on March 12th. How is the weather there in the middle of the month? I read some information online but I just wanted to know your experience during that time. Thank you :)
Hello Mohammad, thank you for your comment. Weather is really hard to predict these days, it's November and it still feels like spring or early summer! Usually, March can be still a bit cold but getting warmer - temperatures may go up to 15-18 degrees Celsius in our experience. But again, nobody can say for sure nowadays!
@@NomadCitello Thank you for your response :). Yeah that makes sense. We got a really good price so might as well now and enjoy what we can!
What is the best way to get from Rialto to the train station at 630 am?
Hello Russ, you can catch the waterbus nr.1 around 6 am, it takes about 20 min. Of course, you can also walk if you're not carrying heavy luggage.

Could you recommanda Park in venice?
Hi, thank you for your comment! There are several car parks around Venice, depending on where you're staying. Our only advice, when you're looking for one on the maps, is to choose a car park in Mestre or before the Ponte della Libertà, as prices skyrocket once you cross the bridge and park in Tronchetto or Piazzale Roma. Hope this helps!

Any tips?
Awesome video guys, thanks 😊 🎉
This is a great video! Thank you!
Hey guys. Until what time does the ATVO bus run? My flight arrives at the airport at 18:30 hs. Thanks
Hi there, you'll have plenty of time, as the ATVO buses run well into the night! The last bus leaves the airport at 1.20 am.
