@@mintind73 I’ve been using aphogee green tea restructurerizer (leave in), keracare thermal wonder (heat protectant), blow dry. Then I apply a little grease over the entire braid, along with edge gel on the roots on top of that
“Blue Magic” is my favorite. They also have some wonderful leave in conditioners you can pair the grease with. First apply the leave in conditioner & then use the grease to top it off. The moisture retention is out of this world. I can go two weeks without re-moisturizing my hair.
it’s definitely back in my routine but only on my ends and scalp! I don’t love the greasy residue but I do love the way it seals moisture like no other.

I'm 60 years old and I used Crown Royal growing up. I think Blue Magic hit the scene around the late 80s early 90s because when I had my daughter in the early 90s Blue Magic was a mainstay. Sulfur 8 never went anywhere because it is medicated and good for scalp issues. In fact, it works really good for dandruff and fungus on the scalp. Blue Magic is really good for retaining moisture, I use it after I wash my hair put in a leave-in, curl cream/gel to lock in the moisture. It keeps my high porosity, type 4 hair moisturized and soft for days.
@choconethotcoco4717 doo grow is more lightweight so I use it more regularly. Blue magic is good for extremely dry days. Crown royal has the thickness for the slickness. I mean, that is what I do. It probably doesn't even really make a difference. But hey. 🤣

Grease is and has always been good to my scalp and hair. My goodness though, with this comeback becoming more widely acknowledged, I do wonder if some of the good stuff that has been working for many of us for many years is about to sky rocket in price and demand and plummet in quality. Hopefully not.
Well people have been asking this same question for several years now and so far the price is still very affordable. So If they haven't raised the price too high I don't think they will, at least not any time soon anyway.
My hair routine is super simple. I only use 2 products. Shampoo and hair grease. I've been doing this for the past 3 months and my hair that was previously falling out and balding has grown back thick and healthy. My scalp was a mess (red, sore, bleeding, scabs, dandruff, pus bumps). Now it's clear and healthy. My hair stays soft and detangled. I was my hair every 1-2 days. A few times every 3 days but usually it's every day. I use Selsun Blue Naturals with 3% salicylic acid shampoo and Chambers Chapter 2000 hair grease. I have type 4 afro hair.
My mom used to slather my hair with grease in elementary and i hated it. My head used to itch like mad and i would have grease all over my hands, papers, and pencils. A child's nightmare. When i started to take care of my own hair i stopped putting it on my scalp and just put it along the length of my hair. I use it from time to time as a sealant. I later found out that i had dermatitis. So basically my doctor told me to limit the product/oil that contacts the scalp.
I have sebboric dermatitis too, but hair grease actually helps with mine because it's stopped my itchiness and the flakes that use to attach onto my scalp. But everyone is different. I wish you the best with your scalp and hair care.
Grease is the way to go, no doubt! I use Doo Grow’s hair retention grease, its green color with olive oil & avocado. Water, curl cream/lotion, & hair grease is my routine. I love how shiny and soft it makes my curls/coils
Hair grease has NEVER done me wrong. There are so many great benefits. The number one benefit for me is that it lubricates my ends so well that I don’t get SSKs (single strand knots). It will always be in my rotation.
Lol, I grew up in the 50's and 60's and my mother used Crown Hair dressing, especially when my hair was hot combed/straightened. Sunday morning it was a quick hair pressing before church with Royal Crown or Blue Magic.

Now I went back to blue magic and mixed in some black castor rosemary oil. Its been 9 months. 1 is the size of a penny and the other is the size of a pea. I switch every other week with sulfur 8. old news. People started using grease again as soon as the curly girl method and lack of petroleum didn't work for them. What works for you is what works for you!
I’ve mix blue magic into making my hair butters. I grew up with natural hair until I was 23, my mother NEVER put chemicals in my hair, it was grease and oils. I always had long thick hair. I started my natural hair journey again in 2019 and I stay with blue magic grease in my arsenal. I make diy hair butters for my hair and I add blue magic to all to get the texture I want to keep my hair moisturized.

My wallet, bank account, and hair is thanking me. Best thing I did for my hair was going back to good ol hair grease. I wish I could use grease. I have so many different types of grease in my collection. But unfortunately it makes my scalp itch sooooo bad. So I’m still experimenting with what I can put on my hair and scalp. But I’m glad it works for a lot of ppl. Keep it simple and inexpensive.
Never stopped using it. Im not about the custard, butters, jellies, smoothies and what ever concoction that is being made up these past few years. The trick is not to be heavy handed with hair grease. A little goes a long way.
I love hair grease, my mother used to blue magic greese to my scalp once a week as a child, you're right my hair was down my back. I started using Jamaican black castor hair grease, and it has been a game changer. I also use in my 4 year old daughters hair. This is another great video!.. or "a banger" lol as you say. Thank you, Queen.
I think you’re right. I think it’s right for some of our hair types like mine. The oil and more specifically the conditioning lotions, etc just sit on my hair. A small amount of olive oil mixed with water or that honey product is good to help keep moisture. But any creamy thing isn’t good. But grease always worked well.
My mom used to use Dixie Peach 😁 I didn't relax my hair until I was almost 45... Now I'm 73. Wish i never did it in the first place!!!! I've been natural for going on 16 years now!
Yes ma’am. My mom used Blue Velvet or Ultra Sheen grease on my hair every wash day (every Friday), and just grease and water when she combed it throughout the week. My hair always ranged from bra strap to mid back. Blue Velvet is gone, but I added Blue Magic to my routine this year with no problems
Not going back to store bought grease bc I can't do petroleum/mineral oil, but I've been using herbal-infused balms from a lot of black-owned creators on Etsy! The moringa grease that I get is better than any storebought!
I'm 64, and remember my mother using Ultra Sheen when I was a kid after the pressing process, and even after I started getting relaxers. Over the years, we've been told to either oil our scalp or not, so I don't remember what changed. With all the products and manipulation of black hair, sometimes we have to stop and think about doing something different to stimulate hair growth. I've watched a few videos about women moving back to the old school way, so Blue Magic "bergamont and the green color" and the Blue Magic Organic were purchased from Amazon to use interchangeably with my weekly wash/conditioning process. On this week's wash, i used after I blow dried/flat ironed/clipped ends. It will be part of my weekly process, so I'm looking forward to seeing some results.
I get build up easily. I Think its because i have low porosity hair. I can use it if i wash my hair within a week but I like to go at least 2 weeks. So it's not for me
@@CoffeeCuties777 I use leave in conditioner and blow out my hair. Then i either wear it in natural twists or cornrow it and put in some curly clip ins. Mist it every couple days. Wash and redo about every 2 weeks. Love this channel btw
I never stopped using Blue Magic, Bronner Brothers and DAX. And I use Dudley’s whenI can find it. My Dad used Crown Royal. My mom used pink lotion, grease with a brush in a big cup of water. She would dip the brush in the cup of water. Yep. 😂 🤷🏽♀️
I used the bergamot (the green) for my hair now. But when I was a little girl back when I had a perm , hair all on my back 😂 my mom either use the BM coconut oil or the original blue one. It still works!
I was tcb grease using girl before they changed it in the 2000s( I think ) but now oddly enough blue magic sells one similar to the original tcb. I never liked the original blue magic bc it was just toooo heavy so I now use the yellow or green blue magic. I know they say people with scalp issues should not use grease like that but I found the opposite to be true with my younger daughter’s hair. I found that her hair loves to clarified with sulfate shampoos and greased afterwards and when I switch up she pays dearly for it. I have had the most problems when her hair got too dry or when her diet was off. Also I heard Bronner Brothers grease is blacked owned so you might like that one. As for doo gro I say give it a try it’s not bad.
Blue magic hair grease is perfect for twist and braid outs. After washing and conditioning your hair, use either water or a water based or creme based moisturizer to moisturize your hair first, then use grease as a sealant to lock in all that moisture. When your hair dries, it will be soft, shiny and stay moisturized for days. The curl definition is crazy. It's one of thee best! Use it! it will not disappoint
Mom used royal crown on my hair as a child and Old 97 pressing grease, After became a teen and started doing my own hair I used ultra sheen, but laterI left hair grease all together when I heard it wasn't good for scalp and hair.I started experiencing hair loss with the new products I was trying ,now I've done the big chop and went back to using grease ONLY on my hair after my shampoo and conditioner and my hair is doing great. I've learned if it's not broken don't fix it.
I still use grease but I shampoo twice a week with clarifying then moisture shampoo. I use a leave in and then grease my scalp and seal with grease. My hair came back from the dead. I deep condition once a week. I don't use a sister conditioner after shampoo. I just use a leave in.
I was shocked to see Dax Kocatah (scalp issues) on Amazon and realized everything old is new again. I use a little bit of Blue Magic on my hair in the winter, a little goes a long way and daily use is not necessary. I used to use Allways Natural Indian Hemp hair grease but it seems to have been discontinued, I really liked it didn't have a heavy scent.
Blk Americans used to love us some blue magic hair grease I’m definitely a late 80s baby growing up this was used with hot comb n perm lol n yes I had long super thick hair. I will definitely be using this again
I followed the trend of not using blue magic grease but it's more on and off these days. I still have a jar I use for moisturizing dry skin from time to time. These days I use a curl cream and castor oil. My hair is much stronger, more shiny and healthier. I'm type 3-4a. Results may vary.
Went back to Blue Magic months ago and after using many of the new market moisturizers, Blue benefits my hair the most, especially taming my frizz. Im natural silk press
Blue Magic is it. Grease and water works as good as some of the products out here now for natural hair. Wash and grease your hair, plait it and let it air dry then style it. I have natural hair and hair grease works well whether I am wash and go or straightening my hair.
I’ve had scalp issues for a few years now, I suspect from over using clarifying shampoos actually and using the wrong type of oils on my scalp. I learned that the mineral oil and petroleum used in old school greases are non comedogenic. I’ve started using sulfur 8 on my scalp and it’s been amazing it has not only relieved my scalp itch but also keeps my scalp from acting up again until the next wash day. Once my hair is longer I plan to use blue magic for my strands.
I've definitely returned to old school hair grease! 😃 I regret for abandoning it. 😔 I use the Blue Magic Hair Food mixed with Africa's Best Liquid Mayonnaise for an ultimate detangling, moisturizing hair experience! 😃
In the past, hair grease made my scalp itch like crazy. I would only use it as the LCO method, if I ever used it again. If you use grease you have to use a clarifying shampoo each month.
I went back to hair grease Softee Indian Hemp is everything. My hair is down my back now and thick. I spent so much money on those butters and products $100's of dollars. Went to Dollar Tree spent $1.25 and got hair growing down the street now lol go figure. TEAM Hair grease 4life.🥰🥰
I use Kuza 100% Indian Hemp grease. Once at night and once in the morning. Keep it in a durag when I'm in the house. No more itching and my dandruff is going away.
I only use small amounts of Blue Magic only on the hair itself when I flat iron. My routine for my short hair is shampoo, conditioner and that’s it. I don’t put grease on my scalp and my hair looks extremely healthy. I’m not wearing my hair out as I’m still growing it back from relaxer damage.
Crown royal ,Dixie peach and blue magic since the 1970s. Yes, thick and beautiful hair. Also, all food was organic and no technology polition in the air weakening our body systems.
I’ve been using it for 6 months and the moisture retention and length retention is awesome. Shampoo every 2-3 weeks, leave in, blue magic. I started mixing Chebe powder in my Blue Magic 3 months ago and my detangling is minimal, and single strand knots are gone. I’m averaging and inch per month. I do not grease my scalp with it because Chebe shouldn’t be applied to scalp. Everyone is asking if I’m supplementing with extensions. NO! Length and volume is off the chain.

I'm 60 years blessed and all my momma did with my hair was shampoo greased (scalp and hair) and cornrows. No conditioner or deep conditioner just shampoo grease and braid. By the way grease doesn't clog pores. Fun fact: hair grease has a comedogenic rating of 0. It doesn't clog the pores. Everyone and y'all's family always stay blessed and healthy ✝️🙏🛐🕊️

Jamaican black castor oil hair food is my current go to grease as well and lol 😂 thank you for watching and supporting the channel🤎🤎🤎
My mom used blue and green magic on my hair when i was a kid ..
Everyone in our neghborhood did too.
My mom used to use Dixie Peach 😁
I didn't relax my hair until I was almost 45... Now I'm 73. Wish i never did it in the first place!!!! I've been natural for going on 16 years now!
Oh wow 😮 nice and 16 years is awesome…thanks for watching 🤎🤎🤎
You're welcome!!🌹
Ive always keep at lwast 2. Never the coconut one though. And yes. Tis the season for Blue Magic❤😊❤😊
I don’t remember blue velvet but I’m happy blue magic is working well for you 🤎🤎🤎
Not going back to store bought grease bc I can't do petroleum/mineral oil, but I've been using herbal-infused balms from a lot of black-owned creators on Etsy! The moringa grease that I get is better than any storebought!
We had Ultra Sheen the blue or green; and Posner light touch. Also Sulfur 8 grease
So it's not for me
What do you use instead?
@@CoffeeCuties777 I use leave in conditioner and blow out my hair. Then i either wear it in natural twists or cornrow it and put in some curly clip ins. Mist it every couple days. Wash and redo about every 2 weeks. Love this channel btw
I dont put it (or anything at all) on my scalp. It itches like crazy. On the lenght of the hair and especially the ends is 👌👌👌
Yes good stuff I use to have the blue magic and pink oil moisturizer mix. Grew up in the 90’s.
90s baby 🤎🤎🤎🤎
No lie, my mom was a hair dresser and used this on me for years. I am going to try going back.
Adding Softee to my wash & go was a game changer 🔥
Glad to hear that’s working well for you 🤎🤎🤎
Def predates the 80's. My family members used it even before the 1980's
Thanks for clarifying 🤎
Never stopped using it….i use what works
🤎🤎🤎🤎
My mom used grease on my scalp when I was a kid but I was never a fan of grease. I’m going to stick with my oils and butters.
I’m going to have to try that out 🤎🤎🤎🤎
Mom used royal crown on my hair as a child and Old 97 pressing grease, After became a teen and started doing my own hair I used ultra sheen, but laterI left hair grease all together when I heard it wasn't good for scalp and hair.I started experiencing hair loss with the new products I was trying ,now I've done the big chop and went back to using grease ONLY on my hair after my shampoo and conditioner and my hair is doing great. I've learned if it's not broken don't fix it.
I remember ultra sheen when getting my hair done…I can still smell it lol 😂
It’s crazy we all lived similar lives even before social media 🤎
I followed the trend of not using blue magic grease but it's more on and off these days. I still have a jar I use for moisturizing dry skin from time to time. These days I use a curl cream and castor oil. My hair is much stronger, more shiny and healthier. I'm type 3-4a. Results may vary.
All i use is grease and a moisturizer, wash once a week and that's it.
What about hairstyles?
Went back to Blue Magic months ago and after using many of the new market moisturizers, Blue benefits my hair the most, especially taming my frizz. Im natural silk press
That’s awesome 🤎🤎🤎
Blue Magic is it. Grease and water works as good as some of the products out here now for natural hair. Wash and grease your hair, plait it and let it air dry then style it. I have natural hair and hair grease works well whether I am wash and go or straightening my hair.
Glad to hear it’s working for you 🤎🤎🤎
I’ve had scalp issues for a few years now, I suspect from over using clarifying shampoos actually and using the wrong type of oils on my scalp.
I’m so happy to hear you found a grease that works well for you and I love your username 🤎🤎🤎
I've definitely returned to old school hair grease! 😃
I regret for abandoning it. 😔
I use the Blue Magic Hair Food mixed with Africa's Best Liquid Mayonnaise for an ultimate detangling, moisturizing hair experience! 😃
Awesome🤎
In the past, hair grease made my scalp itch like crazy.
I would only use it as the LCO method, if I ever used it again.
If you use grease you have to use a clarifying shampoo each month.
Yep 👍🏾 definitely need to clarify 🤎
I love this podcast 😂😂😂🤷🏿♀️
Thank you 🤎🤎🤎
I might need to get some!
My mom used Royal Crown or Ultra Sheen. I’m adding Crown back into my regimen.
Awesome…let me know how it goes🤎🤎🤎
yes, blue magic and doo gro!
I went back to hair grease Softee Indian Hemp is everything. My hair is down my back now and thick. I spent so much money on those butters and products $100's of dollars. Went to Dollar Tree spent $1.25 and got hair growing down the street now lol go figure. TEAM Hair grease 4life.🥰🥰
Awesome 🤎🤎🤎
Honestly, I got kuza indian hemp because softee and Blue magic dried my hair, and yo it works!
I gotta look into that…wasn’t a huge fan of blue magic either 🤎
I agree🤎
Never stopped using it.
Awesome… what’s your favorite kind of grease?
I’ve been using it for 6 months and the moisture retention and length retention is awesome. Shampoo every 2-3 weeks, leave in, blue magic. I started mixing Chebe powder in my Blue Magic 3 months ago and my detangling is minimal, and single strand knots are gone. I’m averaging and inch per month. I do not grease my scalp with it because Chebe shouldn’t be applied to scalp. Everyone is asking if I’m supplementing with extensions. NO! Length and volume is off the chain.
I love blue magic hair grease and softee, ❤❤
🤎🤎🤎
I love all the old hair care products. I never listen to UA-cam about hair care. This generation can tell me nothing about hair.

Natural hair! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I use oil now, on the hair only not the scalp. Oils and grease on my scalp directly gives me dermatitis
Oh wow that’s good to know…thanks for sharing🤎
2018 I went to another stylist my other stylist was out of town my hair was bold she told I had to cut it low to get it back it look good with my hair cut 💇🏾♀️
I keeps Blue Magic grease in my hair products collection.
I grew up on Royal Crown growing up and I fondly see it in Walmart stores today. I love trying new or revised products but I am holding back as I remember as a child it never helped the growth of my hair length.
