I’ve had zero issues with my rev air BUT I always use heat protection.
For the past 3 years+ I’ve been using it on tension 7 with high heat with no issues. My usage varies from weekly to monthly depending on my mood. Plus I only keep it in for 60-90secs max and run my Apple Watch timer to prevent over blow drying. My strands are fine and dense and SUPER coily.
I’m proud of her for speaking up and hopefully my tips can help. The revair is 100% worth it if you regularly blow dry or want to dry locs or braids with ease.

I had to cut 4 inches of heat damage off in June because I MISUSED my revair.
    1. I did it on wet hair instead of damp hair (70% dry at least)
    2. I used too much hair product. so much so that it was coming out of the filter of my revair.
    3. I didn't use heat protectant
    4. I used it on the HIGHEST heat and speed setting
    5. I never checked on my ends
I was over dependent on it. So I finally got curious about what my hair looked like in its natural state and the bottom of my hair was pretty heat damaged. I cut it off, have been doing mini twists on air dried hair since. And once the year is up I plan on using my revair again, the proper way. Also I have really thick kinky hair and this still happened.

oh ofcourse. I used too much leave in cream and oil. which is what I use to moisturize my hair all the time. in the instructions it says not to use too much products in your hair before using, but I didn’t read it. that's why I'm not mad, it was my fault. I was also nev6taught to use heat protectant while blowdrying, I thought people who did that were exaggerated.

@@mocchiatotvI don’t use a leave in with my Revair. Only my heat protectant serum. I recently did a trim but only because I haven’t had one for around 4 years (awful I know) I have retained a lot of length and it’s made my hair routine so much easier. Handheld blow dryers would make my hair so crispy and dry. Try just a heat protectant serum or the Keracare silken seal! 😊

Been natural for 6 years. I now have waist length type 4 hair and my goal is hip length. The Revair has been a huge helping this past year. I bought it last summer and love it. I use it every week on on high suction and high “heat”. Not one strand of heat damage. I don’t use heat protectant but I do use leave in conditioner before using. Not sure what this lady did and how she used the Revair for her to get heat damage results. Personally, my hair shrinks back up 100% and curls are still very much type 4a. I would go as far to say that my hair is healthier ! I am able to stay on top of my trims and it really helped me recover from the damage I got from Mielle’s products.
Also ppl talk about the price but understand it’s an investment. Black women will spend thousands on hair weaves, wigs, braids etc. I wear my natural hair 90% of the time and hardly wear any hair additives. So 300$ was small investment compared to what I use to spend on hair before I went natural.
It’s not a blow dryer. When I blow dry my hair especially if I were to do weekly or even biweekly I experience severe breakage. The heat is often to high and the low settings just make my hair tangled. My hair will start to feel kind dry or textured. But the rev air makes my hair so smooth I can tell the cuticles are laying down , and my hair just gets softer as the days go by.

I’ve been wondering around this too. The way I see it, using heat tools, there is always a chance for damage. The revair is essentially a tension-method blow dryer.
I will say though, having heat concentrated on your hair all at once rather than constantly moving it up and down the shaft is a way to get heat damage. 😅

Revair is really convenient but I do notice it can dehydrate my hair compared to other drying methods or air drying. Although it has the potential to cause less damage, I think the possibility of heat damage is still present for any heat tool. We have to be honest about how healthy our hair really is, whether we’re protecting it and hydrating properly, and how well it can tolerate heat in general

    • @focusclarity8732

@@aeriii4681Regarding dehydration of the hair strands, I have noticed that too while using it on the highest heat setting. But when I use it on low heat, it's not so bad. Natural85 gave a great tutorial on proper use and prep work. A light leave in before using it helps to combat the dehydrated feeling.

User error. Never heard anyone get heat damage from the revair. She didn’t use proper heat protection and obviously it’s different from your normal hairdryer so you NEED to read the manual and watch videos before using it.
Also her holding on to heat damaged hair saying she “fixed it before” shows how she cares for it 🤷🏾‍♀️ Its never beneficial to try and save hair that will never revert to its natural state. And to be honest her hair still looked lifeless and dry in the update. She needs to focus on improving her hair care routine before adding new products and devices.

I have seen a couple of hairstylists on UA-cam say that they stopped using it on their clients' hair because they felt that the hair was damaged long term. No need to gaslight the woman who is reporting the damage. If the Revair works for you - then go for it all day long. Let's not turn this into the no oils no butters trend that folks protected like their first born child.....Then the folks with damage finally got their message through years later.

    • @LethalLemonLime
      @LethalLemonLime Місяць тому +13

At the end of the day, it's heat. If you're using it on high heat for a long time, heat damage (even with heat protectant) is a possibility. I don't think this situation is like the no oils and butter bgc mess. I think the reason people are saying how it didn't cause them heat damage because saying the revair causes heat damage is like saying the babyliss titanium flat iron (or any popular heat tool) causes heat damage. It's the heat that is causing heat damage...like it's not rocket science. It's nonsensical to blame the entire device itself because then anytime anyone gets heat damage with any device like the aforementioned flat iron, they should come to the internet and start proclaiming that this flat iron causes heat damage and therefore you shouldn't use it. I also don't see people gaslighting her like thr bgc cult members do. a they're just saying their experiences with it and mentioning user error. That's not what gaslighting is.

Sorry, not to be a jerk, but why are people surprised that a blow dryer can cause damage? Just cause marketing says it doesn't? Lol Am I missing something here? Now, i dont think the revair causes any more damage than a regular blow dryer does, but I'm sure its exactly the same at worst and maybe similar/ slightly less at best.
My main motivation for buying it is that it's quick and easy to use, especially when you're trying to stretch twists. Cause lord knows i struggle with the revlon blow drying brush and blow dryer comb attachments in general.

10:20 a 4th big chop? Honestly, I don't think this lady knows what she's doing like at all. It seems like she's constantly messing up her hair and constantly trying to grow it but doesn't actually know how to retain length or know much about hair in general. I think she needs to take a break from making these videos and actually learn about the science of hair and hair care from reputable sources (cause for some reason some people are drawn to pseudoscience and fake news). With how short her hair is, I don't even get why she would even be using the revair that much or for that long or that high of heat to cause heat damage.

Her hair looks pretty damaged already and you should not use heat on hair that is unhealthy. And she has been natural since 2013 and admitted this would’ve been her 4th big chop. I think any tool that utilises heat is bound to be at risk of causing potential heat damage?
Same way any process by which you are changing (breaking/reforming hair bonds) can cause damage. It doesn’t make sense to alter your hair in any form (no matter your hair pattern) and not take into consideration that you could potentially cause damage no? No matter how “safe” a product is marketed. That’s why no matter what, proceed with anything that’s altering something’s natural state with caution I think

Think of this revair and all blow dryers like the sun. Proper sun exposure no burnt skin, improper sun exposure burnt skin. This will vary by skin type and melanin content. Now heat dries out hair and skin because both absorb the heat compounding the initial temperature effects so proper use is key to avoiding damage. Even though blow dryer heat is indirect it can damage the cuticle and cause elasticity loss if concentrated in one area too long, even with heat protectant. This risk is higher with direct heat tools. Happy blowdrying!

You can't blame user error on the blow dryer. You can easily damage your hair by misusing any tool or even just not being gentle with your hair. I have fine hair also, but I only manipulate my hair once a week. The question to ask yourself is; Do I have a healthy haircare routine? Deep conditioning weekly? What does my hair respond negatively to? How often am I moisturizing? It is essential that we know our hair first before overusing any tools.

      1. Dehydrate the hair
      2. Cause fracturing of the cuticle.

A lot of the women in this comment section just seem so triggered by the fact that she's against wash n gos but saying she's anti texture and questioning her credentials all because she said something they didn't like is total bs. I have to agree with Cyn Doll saying it's too much heat on your hair using the Rev Air. She said hair can whither years later from bad practices like putting our hair in a hole. She use to say it takes 6 months to 15 years for hair to wither then she said 6 months to 25 year's I don't know why science changed by 10 more year's. She's given a lot of amazing information. I just don't understand when she says she's not sensitive but will get upset when people will say things to her about hair she doesn't like she gets mad that's being sensitive. If you can dish it out and the receiver has no issue with what you say but you can't take it then that's being soft. If you can't take what a person says that's being soft. We don't get mad she does.
