- In each bi-monthly episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday at 2pm PST), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the Grain,Trash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy. On this episode of DiResta, Jimmy creates a protective tool case out of plastic stock.

jimmy diresta is seriously the coolest workshoper or thingmaker of all time
If there's an apocalypse, I'm living with that guy
hahaha
I love DiResta! He's my hero! You know why? Because he just *does* stuff. No fussy measurements, no hunting down tools or materials, no paralyzing perfectionism, no gumption traps (the fast-motion replay really highlights all that, I think). I'm trying to be this way myself. That is: Don't worry about it, just do it!
I am always amazed to watch Jimmy work, especially as he makes very nice pieces without the repeated measuring most of us would need...
i can watch your videos over and over again
Same here... So enjoyable
You guys arent the only ones...i just dont know what makes then so enjoyable
I made this to show several styrene techniques including vacfoiming thank you for the positive comments !!
That was an ingenious way of cutting the box in half after it was assembled. I would have never thought of that.
Some say he doesn't speed up his videos.
+Lauri Lehto It is still an urban legend, we will never know
Lauri Lehto he just changes the pitch
I am glad i found these posts. A lot of happy watching ahead.
and Jimmy Diresta made the world in six days, and the seventh he toke a nap and play with the tools a little and made an aother world even better than first......
salut from Argentina
+colonelerotic jajajaja
thank you for the kind words !!!
Give this man a medal.
A DiResta box to hold his Diresta Box. Brilliant!
I been watching his vids for the last few day and last night I made a stencil with my last name and today I marked my saw horses. Thanks Jimmy I am proud of my last name also.
FUENTES
Oh wow!!!!! I remember using those Montana cans (well they have different name brands, just can't think of any other at the moment) it's been so many years, I don't even know if they still make that brand Montana.. I just love the colors they have & pretty fun taking a trip to the scrap yard to go get them and also can remember using a punk pink on a project and their neon colors are like no other !! they truly have outstanding colors and I love them !!!!!!! thanks for the reminder. almost forgot about them :)
Wow!! Brilliant as always. A pleasure to watch thank you.
...you are...hypnotic! Greetings from Italy!
Jimmy Your a mad freakin scientist! I love that! Great running into you Sunday.
Peace
CH
I always like it when people speed up the boring procedures, (boring as in to watch not make it yourself) verry nice job!
does anyone know how to stop watching diresta videos
nah. I've tried. lol
I've heard that the cessation of one's mortality, without culminating into an immortality, can make it stop - beyond that however, no. There is nothing that can make the Diresta video marathon stop.
the question is not "how to stop?" but rather "why would you want to stop?"
Impossible. You'll die trying.
you got it. Do a pan shot of his work shop and DIRESTA is every where
Wow, that razor-blade-on-block cutting technique was pretty nifty. I'll have to try that.
I love all of your box ideas.. Its so neat
the ending made me laugh, the whole time I was like, whats this box for? then I realized its for the measuring stick. awesome.
Great videos as always. Love DiResta!
It's called "Marketing". That's we are watching his videos and not the other way around.
Great! Looks like a harmonica case.
A vacuum former holy cow you have every tool imagineable! Well crafted I like it!
Always amazing. Thanks for making these.
Nice work Man you truly can make anything can't you
Welcome to the 75th annual name-putting-on-things contest! This year, we have a brand new contestant, Mr. Jimmy Diresta, who is daring to take on the challenge of the previous 5-year winners-- the Mythbusters!
Impressive work, as is his tool collection! Drooling a bit over here :0)... I thoroughly enjoyed watching the process of creating the box. This is the type of video that speeds up my heartbeat and makes me squee inside!! I especially liked the enscribing and vacuuming. What a nice video to start my day!!
seems there nothing mr diresta cant build. guys got some amazing skills with everything.
That is amazingly perfectly instructively satisfyingly scrumptious. Kudos great one
Great Jimmy! One more fan. From Brazil
Always fun to watch
Jimmy, you're amazing.
Another awesome video.
I love how he labels all of his things
So much work for such a simple thing. But it looks great.
totally cool!
Absolutly great Job!!! Congratulation Man!!!
you are truly a master at your work
Impressive, as always!
So fantastic!
Your penchant for creativity is mind-boggling. Wherever your idea reservoir is located, I'll pay for the location. :)
your videos are great, but I would like to hear some narration. love your hammered show wish it was still on
"Oh man! You guys want to see what I made this box for? It's my fucking fokd up ruler! Isn't that fucking rad!!"
Hey Jimmy, I know im a bit late. But i was wondering. Why do you burn the tip of the (what I believe to be) Glue bottle? is it to stop clogging? Any replies are appreciated!
yepp, he's burning the hardened glue away :)
Well showed good way to weld plastics I liked it!
to unclog the needle ,thank you
The ONE time you make a STRAIGHT cut on a band saw in these videos - and THAT one of course has a narrow blade on it ;-)))
*wibble wibbling* a large thin sheet of anything is practically a universally obligatory law :) I move sheets like this all the time and I STILL do it :) jigsawing that DiResta sign tho made me a bit queasy :(
these videos are amazing. I wish I could do this stuff.
If there was a DirestaTube and a UA-cam, and you could only watch one, I'd have a tough time deciding. But yeah, I'd end up going with the former.
Very awesome and y
ou make it look so easy...thanks
I like your choice of spray paint!! Montana gold!! also I love your videos I watch them all the time, could you do some videos for the beginers or a more simple project?
This one was fun!
Cool stuff.
That was so cool, I want one
Could also be used as a fancy condom box. Dude, imagine ... every rubber would have DiResta sprayed on it. And I bet this guy could make his own too.
such a fancy box
Ain't that a cute little box 🐻
Styrene does not need very much water-thin glue to do the trick. If you use a small paint-brush dipped in the (methylene chloride) glue, then brush it at the seams, it's a lot cleaner.
NIce, We build things the same way. What is the make and model of the vac former you have? interesting unit...
Simplesmente Espetacular, parabéns!!!
I have never seen a man so obsessed with his own last name haha
It's his logo, his watermark and his family name. It's not like it matters anyway
+Joshua Faller and his trademark which he gets and does business by.kind of like how HP brands everything HP, Apple put's apple logos on everything and ford puts ford on everything.
+RCKnut exactly 😊
That's his brand. Idiot
Great video! Would love to see one about your custom tool box. :)
beautiful
He gave me a good idea,
I'll put my name on all my tools.
This guy loves his name !
I'd love to get a better look at that vacuformer. I have a couple I made myself, but your design looks very interesting. :)
!!!! I LOVE IT! GREAT VID!!!! needs me some bigger fancier tools.......nifty...
Awesome video
"Who's ruler is this?". I didn't see your name on it.
Nice work.
There is nothing like the sound of a good ole fashion Zippo lighter!
Great Job!!
..hello Jimmy,
can you make a tutorial on how to build your vacuum forming heater?
Awesome videos, thanks for sharing.
es de alto impacto termoformado, que bueno que esta, pensar que yo trabaje con todas esas herramientas y nunca se me ocurrio hacer algo asi, muy bueno.
I've seen so many videos from this dude, and I still don't know what his name is...
jimmy diresta
pretty sure it rewris was joking
directorgtr just being kind...
No harsh thoughts or wording intended :)
I know is jimmy but I never remember the last one dir...something
great work man!!
And it's put in the box, never to be seen again. lol
Actually this was cool to watch. I likes it. Thumbs up.
You can tell somebody robbed ur shop at some point. Lol you have ur name on EVERYTHING.
wow.that is hilarious! !!! but If you think about it, pretty smart doing what he does. maybe that's how he got his name out there and so big being that all his great work has his name sorta like any artist would do. thumbs up for this guy !
1: branding, 2: no reposting.
Really nice.
I want a build video of that vacuum form!!!
it's true, i'm an electrician. i put my name on all my tools and toolboxes. i don't work with thieves but a lot of us have the same tools, and it's easy to end up with somebody else's stuff, or leave your own stuff if you're not careful.
Todos tus vídeos espectaculares.
when you get tools, the answer is always yes. Otherwise people will always try to "borrow" them
Jeez, such a pro. It'd take me forever to make to that level of precision. :(
Sweet former!!
This is cool!
WHat editing software do you use?....and is it Windows or a Mac? Your FAST FORWARD is very CLEAN, so Clean!
Thanks Buddy
Inspirational work I always watch your videos. After watching this I tried to make this but bought too think plasticard. What thinkness do you use.
Awesome!
i do
i now know how im make my deck case but with paper instead. thank you
I think he puts his name on everything to:
1. Discourage thieves
2. Have his logo featured in his videos so people can't steal them and pass them as their own
me encantan sus videos
i love your videos.
