Thanks soo much for all ur winterizing videos!!! I’m slowly learning and piecing everything together!! Please do more videos on closing a pool with an attached spa and air blower!! Thanks!!! :)
I don't get too many attached spill over spas or air blowers. Most blowers can be detached and also have a check valve. Should be videos you can piece together that will help you winterize that blower.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas I have been looking for UA-cam videos on air blowers and haven’t found too much. I heard u are supposed to use the cyclone/mighty vac to blow out the spa jets and turn on the air blower at the same time to get enough air to clear the water from it. Also, If u could leave more tips on ways to verify u have blown and sealed things correctly. Like after u put in a winter plug into the return, is it normal for it to have a FEW bubbles of air come out? I love watching ur videos bc u always throw in an extra tip that no other UA-camrs mention! I’m slowly gaining the courage to winterize myself!
@@FixItWithMe The spas Ive closed, I empty it and blow the lines out. Then shop vac the water out. If theres a blower on it, I would guess its just like putting a mighty vac on it. Just dont run the spa blower for a long time. I also put antifreeze in every jet and suction. Then I cover it with a tarp. Not just right across, I put the tarp right into the spa. Then I put wood across to suppor it from all the snow we get.
Hello, thank you for your videos. I’ve got a couple of questions for winterizing my inground pool. 1. For blowing out the pipe lines can I use a small air compressor? If yes on which holes of the Hayward super pump should I connect my air compressor hose? The hole on the front or side hole? 2. During the blowout which mode should I locate the filter handle? 3. My suction side is included two lines which come from the pool to one side of a valve and I don’t know by closing the valve which line will be closed the skimmer line or main drain? How can I figure out which one is the main drain which one is the skimmer line? Is it really matter to winterize both lines? Thanks for your time
I don't use air compressors because they don't do the right job. If you need to find out what line goes where, just starting blowing out lines and you'll find out.
Great question. Put the filter on waste and then blow the line out. If you have another type of filter, just cut or disconnect the pipe going into the ground. You can always put a fitting there for next year.
Question please, if I’m the only owner of the pool routes let’s say I have 15 of them, in winter how do I cover them by my self most pools can’t be covered by one person any ideas about that, hope to get an answer thanks.
You can cover any pool by yourself. I did it for 5 years. Doesn't matter is it a water bag, lock in or safety cover. Hard to explain how to get all of them on by yourself. Maybe I should do videos on that.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas yes please need video like this, I used to work as pool technician before I had so many big pools that can’t only one person close it , need it at least 4 people to cover up, all of them were commercial swimming pools Thanks for your answer.
I have watched all your closing videos. Very helpful. I know you have a Mighty Vac, but most of us would not have this or a Cyclone. I wonder if you could try it with a shop vac first. In this video, you have a 2 port skimmer, the one closest to the pool is plugged like mine. I have read that this could be a reserve line in case the first suction line gets damaged, or is capped and leads no where, or is plumbed to the main drain which is useless. How do you think this particular one is plumbed? Also, what position should the MPV be in when you drain the filter? And when you're done, should the MPV be on Winter or Closed?
Will do. Shop vac can't blow out the water as well. I tried the $400 shop vacs and it cant push the water thru to the Main Drain. Will do a video in the next week or so on that. If you see a cap in the skimmer thats upside down....its dirt there if you take it off. If you have a main drain it will go to the skimmer or to the pump. if its capped and you dont have this setup....its dirt under there. No plumbing. When blowing the return lines in between the pump and filter, turn the dial to recirculate or whirlpool. you can turn the dial to close or just in between any of them. The idea is that it drained the sand filter better. opens it up.

This year I'm going to winterize our inground pool myself. I've watched a lot of videos on this topic and yours was the best I've found. Thank you.
@@maxgillie thank you. That's an older video but it still works. We have a lot of pool closing videos and others may help you out with your pool.
I use my leaf blower to blow out lines . It has valve for air to go out if in vacuum bag mode .

How do you blow out the backwash part? My backwash is not a detachable hose it runs to my sewer system
