    Great video! I have the same pool, but in 18 feet. Bought it last year for my granddaughters birthday. I took it down last year. What a hassle trying to dry it out. This year its staying up. Thanks!

    Thank you for sharing this! I’ve seen people winterize and it was always the ultra pools with gray liners. I’ve been nervous about mine, which has the same liner as yours, so it’s encouraging to know it can be done!

    Thanks for this helpful video. I live in West Texas so our winters are nothing like where your at. I am still going to do everything you mentioned hopefully we get atleast 5 years on our intex 12x24x52. I have 5 year old twin boys that like your son are also on the spectrum and the pool really helps them im so many ways. Hope you keep us updated.

    Wayne Perry i like your video we too purchased an Intex pool back in May we were lucky enough to get the newer style Intex 16×48 xtr ultra steel frame pool for $599 which we held out for 3 weeks waiting and hoping for that size there were a few 15s but wanted that 16. Your video caught my attention because your in upstate New York keeping it up all winter. Were in Chicago and its our first pool of this size and i definitely wanted to keep it up all winter because it was a job to install prepping ground and all the work after. I too felt that taking it down would damage it. I bought a winter cover from a pool store near me called the GREAT ESCAPE. I opted for a slightly bigger cover than the pool so we have that overhang its got the cable as yours although its a heavier cover no water goes through. I do pump some water off of it now while its still above freezing temps here. We do chlorine here so i saved all my liquid chlorine juggs from over the summer and zip tied them around the pool through the grommets on cover. I see you said not to overtighten cable. I have a big truck inner tube in middle tied off at 4 corners with polypropylene rope. I drained pool below output and put the 2 rubber top hat plugs in the intake ports and water level is right there bought the in the swim winterizing kit with floater and pill online hoping it works as planned through the winter. I thought possibly next spring pulling back the rubber mulch around the legs and spraying all the legs at bottom with automotive rubberized undercoating. I have a summer video of ours on my channel . thanks for the clear video look forward to your channel for future updates so i liked and subscribed to your channel HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM CHICAGO!!

      How did the rubber top hat plugs hold? We're mid process closing here in Sweden and after reading a lot of different opinions we decided to keep water level basically normal. I drained like 2". I plugged my inlets with the top hat plugs but we're worried ice might expand inside them. Did you have issues?

    Hi. I just watched your wonderful video on closing the pool for the winter. Can you please give me some advice. How far does do I drain the water? Do I disconnect all the hoses and pump after draining? And I'm guessing I put the big blue plug things in the holes after draining? Thank you for any help.

    Up state CT here, I do this exact same process to our intex pool, gallons and all. We're going on year 5 with no problems in sight.

    • @iamkazie9401
      @iamkazie9401 4 роки тому

      Christopher Testa do you have any rain water sit on top of your tarp and if so do you pump it off before first freeze?

    • @christesta
      @christesta 4 роки тому

      @@iamkazie9401 yes, rainwater and snowmelt builds up throughout the season. I keep a garden hose or a pool hose draped over the edge and start a siphon flow once every few weeks temp permitting

      Is this possible with a paper filter pump ? Or sand filter only.thanks Chris.

      @hdrjunkie 2 роки тому +1

      @@russcalabrese7561 hi Russ, I’d say to remove the pump so it doesn’t freeze and get damaged.

    I'm guessing you don't get a lot of wind there. We regularly get 50+ mph winds throughout the off-season, and cover with no weight on it just turns into a sail, which just destroys the cover.
