Hey Brother, love your reviews! Keep up the great work and know that it is appreciated. I'm getting back into archery after decades away and have learned a ton from your channel. Looking forward to the fall!
Tried your way of squeezing the trigger. It tightened my groups, to where I don’t shoot at the same spot on my bag target. Thanks for that. Saves $$$$$$$🎉
Your perspective on products and the use of are great conversations, for us to choose to put another tool in the bag. I would like to see this be more active on your channel. As you do, keep it simple, instructional, and to the point!
That's a good tip with how you put the thumb and finger together. I think the more people get use to shooting with tension, the stiffer they want to setup the release.
Thanks for explaining why you touch your thumb to index. I did notice that months ago and figured you being a bigger guy was the reason. I’m definitely going to incorporate that as a gauge on my sigma.
Great review, i have been using the Sigma for about 12 months now . its a great release but am looking for something very similar in an open hook as i feel the Sigma is too loud for hunting situations at times so i want to just use that for my target set up
good review. i like the personal tips on how you fire the release. could you sort the content on your youtube page into playlists? it would be nice to see in order your reviews by equipment type. love the channel.
Good review but really appreciated the tips in how to use & set up. I also set my trigger releases to heavy. Would like to see you review the back tension Whalen's Hooker release - it's not new but been using it & found it great for 3D.
A few ideas for things to talk about, fit and finish, bang for your buck, how crips, if they have a similar version so you can switch back and forth without changing DL or anchor point. Duel function like the GOAT, A few I’m interest in wise choice, Stan onnex, sweet spot pro. Thanks for all the info you are putting out !!
As always appreciate your knowledge. When you were first setting the tension it had a very loud “ting”. Think that would be annoying and not sure what kind of difference it would make when shooting at a live target.
I knock out 2 of my front teeth stuffing around with my release a few years ago, it was like someone punched me in the mouth as hard as they could with brass knuckles, I still haven't gotten my teeth fixed but I've got my release dialed in, that's the main thing.
I actually got to try one yesterday and it felt good. I did notice that little sound you did as well which was kinda weird but being its the same sound every time means most likely supposed to be there? Or at least nothing was wrong with the one I shot anyway? I'll be sticking with my Carter Wise Choice I reckon. Enjoy the reviews and the honesty with them.
I had a Scott Sigma for a good while, but I switched it out for the Apex Core. I feel like the Apex Core is superior in every way except the hook direction. The Apex Core just felt better in hand, it has a bigger thumb barrel (which I like), and it's WAY easier to cock. The Scott Sigma had the stiffest cocking button on a release that I have ever used in my life.
I would be a dandy if you could review a SCOTT ARCHERY Pursuit Thumb Release RCS Buckle Strap Black . Had my eye on this based on moving away from a trigger release but being budget friendly.
I have the apex and not the core. I like the open hook design but it seems like I can’t get the tension high enough for my liking. Had to put travel in it to make it feel harder.
Man I dont know if your still wanting video ideas or not but I would like to see your thoughts on bow maintenance wax or not stuff like that. And a complete bow tear down with a bearing change and do you grease the limb in the pocket or not just a idea.
One of these days I'll venture into a handheld release. It's just that I have 30+ years of using a wrist strap trigger release, and I'm not sure this old dog can learn new tricks. Lol. Great initial review.
I dont have trigger panic so my index releases are just fine. If anything I am just trying to keep up with the latest trend but I dont have a lot of confidence in hand held releases. I am watching and listening though, and will probably take the plunge soon. Some of them are pretty expensive for my pocket.
I’d like to know when it comes to releases…how much does the release mechanism affect your shot. I shoot a sigma and wonder which hinge release I should try based on the release mechanism. Open hook vs closed etc. Should I try and match them as close as possible or am I just being ridiculous because I’ll never see a difference at my skill level?
Hey MFJJ, As I was watching you touched on something that I have been wondering and that is how the "Jaw" opening affects the shot. My question is does the "jaw" facing a different direction change the twist or pressure/tension on the string enough to affect the shot ?
I like the 2 finger system Bought the wolf release cause it was not to expensive just to try it and I like the feel of it I think it be a use to me I have more strength in the thumb and 2 fingers
Here's an idea... in the reviews you could measure the length of the neck since it can effect anchor position and it could be an interesting detail to compare releases
Things to review! Pinch points in the hand (to fingers consistently go back to the same point) Length of the release measurement (see how much draw length we lose). Adjustable “hotness” level Adjustability of the barrel
What closed jaw thumb button would be similar in form (size and geometry) and function to the truball abyss? It's great for the target bow but I like closed jaw releases for my hunting bow. Trying to find one as similar to the abyss and it's hinge sibling the Fulkrum so I'm not constantly pestering my anchor point and peep height between bows.
LOVE ALL YOUR REVIEWS AND INFO ALWAYS WAS WONDERING ON THUMB BUTTON RELEASES WILL IMPACT CHANGE DUE TO THE RELEASE HOOK GOING ONE WAY ON ONE RELEASE AND ANOTHER WAY ON A DIFFERENT RELEASE AID
Not a moron. Thanks for what you do! I still think it is weird you (many people) shoot a thumb like a hinge, train with a hinge then hunt thumb button.. im going to get a thumb eventually, but i just dont know when I will have the urge to spend the dough
I'm looking into trying a thumb release manly for deer hunting. I'm 56 yo been using a wrist strap release scott little bity goose. Just need a good recommendation
Paige pierce did a video same bow same everything except arrows one spun clockwise the other spun counter clockwise so yes arrows do play a part in which way it spins
I fall in the category of “wanting quality archery gear without it costing an arm and a leg”. Last year I got the Truball Stalkr thumb button and its been great, crisp release with tension and travel adjustment. It was $150, which for some is still expensive but definitely worth it to me. I’ve tried the Scott Sigma, Carters, and the UV Button which were all nice but for some spending 200-300 on a release isn’t practical. Would love your opinion MFJJ on the truball cause I think it’s a good option for serious archers on a budget
Do an entry level thumb release. So hard to find a good review from an un bias source. Be nice to do a best bang for your buck release series. Not everyone has $ 300 to spend on a release.
Another great video! Reviews are always great, but the tips and tricks you throw in with the review are invaluable! Keep up the good work!

Nice release with a great review. Thanks for all you do MFJJ.
Very good insight into pre load under pressure! Awesome tip MFJJ!!
Tried your way of squeezing the trigger. It tightened my groups, to where I don’t shoot at the same spot on my bag target. Thanks for that. Saves $$$$$$$🎉
New Sub ! Been watching these for the last three hours ! GREAT CONTENT

Great video MFJJ, I’d like to see a video on the Scott verge.
That's a good tip with how you put the thumb and finger together. I think the more people get use to shooting with tension, the stiffer they want to setup the release.
Yes 💪 realeases are what I’ve been waiting for lol. I need a new backup to my ol Stan

This man is a treasure of information. I agree with the no hair trigger issue.
Good review but really appreciated the tips in how to use & set up. I also set my trigger releases to heavy. Would like to see you review the back tension Whalen's Hooker release - it's not new but been using it & found it great for 3D.

Would love to see some reviews on B3 releases. That Apex core looks very similar to the B3 omega pro
I knock out 2 of my front teeth stuffing around with my release a few years ago, it was like someone punched me in the mouth as hard as they could with brass knuckles, I still haven't gotten my teeth fixed but I've got my release dialed in, that's the main thing.
Great video, I like a thumb trigger myself..
Informative as usual, im just so used to my normal release, i fear the change and basically relearning a new one 🤷♂️
Like to see compare/contrast releases for different size hands/archers/different draw styles.
Open them up to see if there is plastic in them. Thanks for the reviews
I have been shooting the core for a couple months. Love it but closing hook, I use my middle finger to push closed. Works well for me
Maybe the tru ball x tension flex Jessie Broadwater signature. Two releases in one I've seen a review but would really love your take on it
Could you do a review of index finger releases for us knuckle draggers? Maybe talk about the different sear setups that are offered by manufacturers.
I had a Scott Sigma for a good while, but I switched it out for the Apex Core. I feel like the Apex Core is superior in every way except the hook direction. Open hook, wrist strap release roundup, compare all the features of the available options on the market
Review the verge and s2 and maybe the longhorns
Love my sigma, but I have a Goat and wise choice that are really nice as well. Nice review
I would be a dandy if you could review a SCOTT ARCHERY Pursuit Thumb Release RCS Buckle Strap Black . Had my eye on this based on moving away from a trigger release but being budget friendly.
Can you do a review or a “how to” on the proper way to shoot an index release?
I have the apex and not the core. I like the open hook design but it seems like I can’t get the tension high enough for my liking. Had to put travel in it to make it feel harder.
Man I dont know if your still wanting video ideas or not but I would like to see your thoughts on bow maintenance wax or not stuff like that. And a complete bow tear down with a bearing change and do you grease the limb in the pocket or not just a idea.
Appreciate ya time what would you recommend for a first timer at archery please ?

I did not consider touching the thumb to pointing finger. Good idea. I’ll try it.

I like the 2 finger system
Bought the wolf release cause it was not to expensive just to try it and I like the feel of it
I think it be a use to me I have more strength in the thumb and 2 fingers
Those wolf's are good feel but will misfire soon enough be careful
Here's an idea... in the reviews you could measure the length of the neck since it can effect anchor position and it could be an interesting detail to compare releases
I saw you shooting a Stan Axis in a previous video. What’s your opinion on that after shooting it for a bit?
Things to review!
Pinch points in the hand (to fingers consistently go back to the same point)
Length of the release measurement (see how much draw length we lose).
Adjustable “hotness” level
Adjustability of the barrel
Would it change your shot process practicing with a hinge and hunting with a thumb release
The ting goes away after some shooting. I noticed it too lol.
LOVE ALL YOUR REVIEWS AND INFO ALWAYS WAS WONDERING ON THUMB BUTTON RELEASES WILL IMPACT CHANGE DUE TO THE RELEASE HOOK GOING ONE WAY ON ONE RELEASE AND ANOTHER WAY ON A DIFFERENT RELEASE AID
Stan onnex hinge! You’ve mentioned. So do it.
Not a moron. Thanks for what you do! I still think it is weird you (many people) shoot a thumb like a hinge, train with a hinge then hunt thumb button.. im going to get a thumb eventually, but i just dont know when I will have the urge to spend the dough
A Scott release cost me a deer this last season. Switched to the Onnex.
like to see a review on the spot hog whipper snapper
I'm looking into trying a thumb release manly for deer hunting. I'm 56 yo been using a wrist strap release scott little bity goose. Just need a good recommendation
The B3 Exit Pro is a great release and the perfect size. oh and its half the price of the high end releases.
Paige pierce did a video same bow same everything except arrows one spun clockwise the other spun counter clockwise so yes arrows do play a part in which way it spins
How about the Scott apex ?
Alright MFJJ!
No mention of wrist rockets?!? - You gonna leave the index finger shooters hanging!?!
Wow that’s a loud release!!

Try longhorn hex
I have punched myself in the face a couple of times after messing with the spring tension.
Good advice not to draw back straight at your face.
Do an entry level thumb release. So hard to find a good review from an un bias source. Be nice to do a best bang for your buck release series. Not everyone has $ 300 to spend on a release.
Did no one at the factory hear that ting, high dollar releases should not sound like that.
