Always so many idiots on the facebook groups buying these knock off parts. It'll be good to be able to share this video. Hopefully it'll knock some sense into people!

I've used GB Racing covers on all my track bikes. Thankfully I never had to put any of them to the test, but they certainly felt dense, substantial and just really really solid and purposeful. Plus they looked trick as owt too

This is something Brian Van owner of sportbike track gear has been screaming about for years. Especially about brake levers than break off in your hand while braking to foot pegs that break off.

A big issue is that a lot of products are manufactured in China and branded by UK companies to be sold as UK products. Admittedly those UK companies may have better quality control and check on importation. However there's also the legacy of poor manufacturing quality of British products of bygone years. Today's companies unfortunately have to work harder to prove themselves. Personally I don't need engine covers but I'm assuming GB know what they're doing and I hope they're not greedy when it comes to profits.

Good points made Taylor 👍🏻 You wouldn't buy a knock off helmet to save your head, why would you fit knock off engine protectors for your pride and joy ? GB racing are the industry standard.

I always buy direct from GBRacing but this issues has been rampant and obvious for decades at this point.
Off topic comment... I wish GBR would up the quality of their bolts that come with the kits. There are always a few bolts that corrode and go crusty after a year or so. I've had 3 or 4 that have corroded so much that they ended up stuck in the engine block and needed drilling out.

Good to see Chinese fakes exposed, maybe something to think about if you're thinking about buying a Chinese bike. Or anything else. Hope Taz was OK with you drilling holes in his engine protection.

Well done that video is GREAT!!! I have visited GB Racing a few years ago and I also know R and G and I have seen exactly how well their products are designed and manufactured. These Chinese engine cases are worthless and if you think they are gonna protect your bike well er NO WAY. You get what you pay for eh???

Won’t run a bike road or track without gb covers! Expensive? Kind of, but they are cheaper than oem casing and when you crash as much as me, every penny saved helps 😂

It's not protective covers you should be worried about - 80% of spark plugs on Ebay and Amazon are fake. NGK, Champion, Bosch, Denso. That's what will fuck up your car or bike in a heart beat.

Most important fact is some Chinese GB Racing copies come with free longer bolts! DO NOT USE THEM THEY WILL SNAP IN YOUR CASES! Plenty videos on you tube about this problem.

My work mate bought a "Brembo" RCS19 break and clutch system. They looked absolutely legit and I was impressed. He initially said he paid the $480NZ for each which is the typical price here in New Zealand each side sold separately. 3 weeks later he had an accident low siding his bike, thankfully for him only on a 50kph suburban street causing mostly cosmetic damage to the bike along with the foot peg on right hand side coupled with his ego taking a hit. Talking to him later he said that the front break Master cylinder seal burst when applying the break lever spewing break fluid down and under the bike causing him to lose traction and low side. Talking with him a few more weeks later asking him why he's not taking a warranty claim with the Brembo distributor her in NZ, he finally admitted he bought them off Aliexpress for $130NZ for the pair. Also admitting later he was a fool. He apologized for lying too and admitted it was because he knew everyone would call him a fool for wasting the money and putting his safety at risk. You have to be some kind of special to take a chance on knock off break parts already knowing you're being a fool and doing it anyway !!

Not everyone can afford the stuff, because the prices are literally insane, of basically everything.

So why spend money on something that doesn't work? Leave the bike as is. It's probably better as OEM than fitting sub-standard parts to be honest.

@@isitmeorwhat But for the street it does work and depending on the quality of the clone product it will work perfectly for the track too and many people attest to.

GB covers are the best product to come into bike racing ever..trust me ive had the riders that tested them so many times! they work... buy the real ones you will not regret it.

I had a customer snap off a clutch cover bolt from a cheap copy set that I had to drill out, what a nightmare job.
He said there genuine gb racing & I’ve fitted enough to know that was a load of rubbish

The bolts are the real part that needs exposing with these and this video completely ignored them. The covers are generally perfectly fine for street use but the bolts should be discarded and replaced.

Crash protection stuff is a bit like a condom, you need to know that you can rely on it when push comes to shove! Flimsy is not a good attribute.

You just figured out that the Chinese brands sell fake gear?? 🤣 Who'd have thought!

  • @MrBCRC
    @MrBCRC Годину тому

The reality is that there's a market for street level case protection and GB racing aren't interested in that market so the Chinese went and picked up the slack. There's no valid reason to lay any blame for that on the Chines or the consumers that are buying them. No one buying these thinks that they're genuine.
This video is just fake outrage, fake exposure, fake comparisons. Grass brake pads means that some engine case covers won't work??? Seriously did you smoke those brake pads?
Everyone knows that these are visual knockoffs which is the only downside of the whole thing. They're falsely claiming to be GB racing when they're not.
Remove the GB racing name and people will still buy them because the fact is that they do the job for a reasonable price and they're cheap enough to replace frequently if needed. Plenty of people have crash tested them (even on the track) and proven that they work. The only downside of them is that the bolts should be discarded and replaced with good ones and you didn't cover that at all. A better test than drilling through them would have been to put a flap disk on an angle grinder and see how well it wore through. After all, isn't that their purpose?
No one is buying clones for track use where they're ideally built to handle a slide from 200+ km/h. They're being bought for street use and for that they're sufficient and they're also priced accordingly. You falsely claim that GB racing are missing out on sales. That's utter BS. If the clones suddenly disappeared tomorrow people wouldn't run out and buy genuine GB racing covers because they're way too expensive for what the consumer wants or needs.
The only way you can claim this is hurting GB racing is if they actually did make a street version which they don't. It's track or nothing when it comes to GB racing and thus people won't buy GB racing even if the Chinese clones didn't exist.
