  • I picked up a 3d printed kit off either eBay or Etsy a couple years ago of one of my favorite fictional sidearms. The DE-10 blaster was featured in the MMO Star Wars Galaxies and my smuggler character carried one to great effect.
I've sanded, primed, weighted, and customized this kit to have a good feel in the hand and also used a mix of spray and hand painting to make it as visually interesting as possible. I've left the painting a little rough in spots to evoke the "lived in" look that we associate with so much of Star Wars. I still have a little clean up to do on it before I clear coat it but I'm really happy with how this turned out. I've created the appearance using different primers for the scope and handle than I did for the body. I've also used metallic aluminum and gunmetal colored spray paints and, I have to say, tape masking it between coats of one color before switching to applying the other took a lot of work. After that dried in I used good old fashioned Testors silver, gold, black, and red for accents and touch up.
I'm worried about durability for cosplay since it is just a 3d print with some plaster of paris reinforcement but it looks cool as all get out. The original in the game was all silver with some black accents and a black handle. Since RL is higher resolution I figured I'd add to the visual some.
    What do you all think?
Like with everything else I post, this is costume piece (not a weapon) and part of my personal collection.

Thank you very much! I used to love building and painting models, many decades ago, so this was kind of a trip back to my childhood that way but...I've learned a lot since then so this was also a test of those new things too.
