Excitedly purchased the TR7 about 3 months ago. It was definitely over my budget but at 65 yrs of age, I did not want to mess with non agitator machines from the box stores. I initially purchased a HUGE non agitator machine from Samsung. I could have washed the entire neighborhoods clothes in that thing. From the very first wash, it was unbalanced! Fortunately, I purchased online from Samsung and they offered a 30 day free return policy. This is when I studied the Speed Queen machines. If you are, for example, a construction worker or farm worker or blue collar worker with filthy jeans or clothes every day and so on, you probably want to consider the TR5. I'm single, retired and don't experience grass stains and heavy dirt. Yet REGARDLESS of which machine you use, I would always recommend the following for dirty clothes. Don't buy powder cleaners. Buy yourself a very good liquid detergent and avoid PODS. They have a oh, silicone type casing which can end up as yuck inside your machine behind the stainless steel tub, an area you never see. Consider a liquid water softner. I use a capful of Calgon each load. Pre-treat the stains ALWAYS. Select the pre-soak cycle!!! Who cares if it extends your wash cycle for 15 minutes. Now here is the best addition for dirty clothes and you WILL BE AMAZED. Add 1/2 cup of PINE-SOL. Yes, PINE-SOL to your dirty wash. If you read the back of the label it explains about using in your wash. The elements in pine sol are very small and can get into the fabric of your clothing which detergent can't. You'll be amazed. Never, never, use fabric softeners as they also choke your machine outside of the stainless wash bin. They also coat your clothes with a waxy substance which makes clothes feel soft. Did you know you should NEVER use fabric softener on baby's clothes? Read about it! Fabric softener is a huge scam. End of story, Speed Queen is an outstanding product. 7 year warranty on the TR7!!! READ YOUR MANUAL, PICK THE CORRECT CYCLES, PRE-SOAK and follow what I stated above. You'll be happy and probably not buy another washer! I know this thing will outlive me!!!!

Excellent tips! Last week, my Maytag board went up again! The same thing happened about seven months ago. It’s still under warranty; however, after much research, I decided to purchase the Speed Queen. I went to the store yesterday and bought the washer. I was hesitant because of the agitator. I have not had one of those in several years; however, I’ll stick to that since I prefer it to the front loader. It will be here in a few weeks. Until then, a bit of hand washing is in the future. I have no desire to go to the laundromat.

@@lakeseminole I agree with your recommendations with one exception…the vinegar. I’ve been using white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser for years to soften my clothes. It really helps to get any remaining soap out of the clothes which can cause fabric to feel stiff or scratchy. And, the clothes don’t smell like vinegar. I use Australian wool dryer balls in the dryer for faster drying, plus fluffing. My laundry comes out soft and fluffy.

I was dead set on getting the TC5, until I watched this video. Now I am literally torn between the two models, yet now I am leaning more towards the TR7. Thanks for posting this NO B.S. video, and it's comforting to know that as someone who owns the appliance store, you actually have a TR7 in your own home. That gives me more faith towards the TR7. The dirtiest thing I would put in the TR7 is a pair of jeans with dirt on them from working out in the garden. As long as the TR7 can take care of that, I would be happy with it. I am also in the camp of people who hate what government mandates have done to our appliances!

@@georgecass8529 I actually ended up purchasing the Speed Queen front loader, FF7. I chose it because I got a new job at a production facility, and my clothes can get pretty nasty from oils, chemicals, and dirt. I've had it for several months now, and that washer is built like a tank! The pedestal is a must, otherwise it would sit irritatingly low to the floor. I paid to have it delivered and setup in my home. Paid a pretty penny for it, but it was totally worth it. It is so quiet when it washes, except for the spin cycle. I have gotten used to the sound of it though, and I can sleep right through it if someone else in the house is doing laundry. It also plays nice with my tankless water heater because it does not rapidly pulse the hot water open and shut during a fill, it opens the hot water and leaves it opens. The result is my tankless water heater does not get needlessly cycles on and off rapidly within a short period of time. My old LG front loader did that, and it was very irritating. The wash cycles are fast, even when I select an extra rinse cycle which I do most of the time. It also cleans my towels better than my old washer, they come out fluffy and fresh after they are dried.

I have lived with my TR-DR 5 set now for 4 years. Not one issue to report, no one has said I stink because my cloths are dirty and my cloths never look dirty either. Infant they look newer and cleaner longer now!
I really think it’s and adjustment issue for people to understand that more detergent is not better for anything that I’d clean irregardless what it is. Often the excuse is brute force is only what does the cleaning and that’s absolutely false. Dirt is not going anywhere in your cloths on the perceived brute force thing alone and I think these machines have proven that some detergents are letting these people down also. Water quality and detergent are factors to consider in the performance of anything in our homes that cleans for us.
    Very nice video 👍👍

Even during the spin cycle if you weren’t in the room you wouldn’t know it was running. We bought our Maytag LAT8650AAW a few months after our oldest daughter, Sarah, was born. So that would have been late in 1981 if my memory is correct. We raised our 4 kids and still use that washer. Our oldest granddaughter is graduating from HS this year. Sarah is on her third washing machine. She buys the latest tech. They are so shiny and colorful and have lots of electronic buttons on the control panel. Our Maytag is still going strong and never needed a repair of any kind. For about 15 years I've been expecting it to reach its end of life. The porcelain finish is scratched and chipped. There is some rust on the outside. Luckily it's in the utility room where guests don't have to look at it. But they use it when they visit. An appliance sales person told me 15 years ago that if I have an old washing machine that still runs as it should, don't buy a new one yet. Wait for the old machine to die first because new machines are designed to wear out in 5 to 10 years. So I've waited and just kept informed about the technology used in new machines. The research and window shopping I've done in 15 years in looking for an eventual replacement always concludes with the same result: Speed Queen. So happens your store is nearby.

(may change it to the electronic one) i noticed on the panel what we get is different, no special cycles option, and no auto fill, rather we just get load sizes of small, medium large and extra large. as you said, the auto fill function would be great to have. our version doesnt have the lid lock, no speed cycle but we do have options for second and third rinses. we do have the delay start option and signal. what wash cycle would you recommend for soiled clothes such as work clothes with grease. ? another question is, with the other speed queen machine, with the dials. we have a normal option in the wash cycle... this is not ECO right ? ECO is not mentioned, but i hope its not the same.... should we use another cycle. thanks.

It looks like to me that with the TR series, the clothes are moving with the water, or the water us moving with the clothes. I do not get the water moving through the clothes thing. If the water was moving and the clothes just stationary, then I could understand the water moving through the clothes. Seems to me that “water through the clothes” or “clothes through the water” is just language for those people that do not stop to evaluate and critically think what is going on with the action. With the TR action, what is affected by the action of the agitator - is the agitator affecting the movement of the water or the clothes or both. Same question with the TC series.

This machine is terrible for washing clothes. It does not remove any stains. I went back to the appliance store and they gave me this same spiel on how great it is and that everyone loves it it must be me....i felt totally gaslighted by them....Look up complaints on this washer, its cleaning ability leaves a lot to be desired and I can attest to it. If you want rinsed clothes that's all you get. There's no washing going on here if anything the longer the wash the more lint and gunk settle back on your clothes and leave lines of film on them. By the way, I do not use fabric softener, I have a water softener and I use Ecos laundry soap (small cap) and Clorox for whites and Clorox ll for colors.

I assume you're mentioning the very poor wash performance of this machine and why Consumer Reports rated it near the bottom of washers because of its poor cleaning. Funny thing about Speed Queen is that in the fifties and sixties their marketing department made fun of these swirly-type machines, stating that they didn't work well on getting dirt out of clothes! I have a good friend who owns an appliance store and sells SQ, and these days, since they've come to their senses and again sell their great commercial-grade agitator model again, he'll only get this expensive, bad joke when someone insists on him special-ordering it.

If this design was so great why didn't other manufacturers pick up on it ? This cracks me up.
I don't know who to believe. Frigidaire did the same thing about 10 years ago and it didn't last.
If it's using the same amount of water as the TC5 then why are they pushing this design so hard?
I would like to hear testimonies of people who bought a TR model in 2018 and are still using it today with no problems.

Likely cost reasons. SQ's claim to fame is commercial quality in a home machine (for example the TR series has no transmission), there's no "design to pick up on".

We've had ours for ~2 years and the only issue we've had was the locking mechanism stopped working. I'm not sure how/why but the plug had come undone, I'm assuming that the locking piece didn't get fully clicked in and it just eventually worked itself loose.
As far as the cleaning goes, it's been perfectly fine, and our clothes are not what anyone would call "lightly soiled" most of the time.

Most people are not able to buy speed queens because of the cost. You can get a whirlpool washer and dryer for about $1000 less. Most manufacturers go for the masses. Remember Speed Queen has been used commercially for decades. This is why home depot and Lowe's dont't sell them.

    • @patcola7335
      @patcola7335 Рік тому

@@dianehaskins8640 Yes Speed Queen was always mainly the commercial end but they did sell through mom and pop stores. The "better" Whirlpool made machines would be the Maytag commercial MVWP585GW now with a water level control and the Whirlpool commercial CAE2795FQ which I have. They aren't cheap either but they wash like the old school machines.

Just stay away from the TR series. Complete bad design. I bought the TR 3 last July 2022 from Marsillios/Fairfield CT. I am being stiffed by both SQ and the dealer. The TR series is pure garbage. If you consider a SQ,only look at the TC series. I am trying to get SQ/dealer to replace the TR with the TC. I am willing to pay some type of fee. Worse case scenario I will try to sell the TR POS or even lose all the money. Completely unusable.

I wish I had saw this post earlier. I purchased a Whirlpool non vended commercial washer last December and it's been a great washer. Old school agitator and fast cycle times. Cleans as well as any of the older machines did. A good alternative to Speed Queen.
      The Whirlpool model is:
      Model # CAE2795FQ.
Maytag commercial model would be another good buy and it has more options and a water level control. Model# MVWP586/585 GW.
