    Shop towels require Max dirt setting, Pre-wash, and a fairly long soak cycle. Especially true for dark greasy shop towels or mud-infused jeans as I have at home. Some of those towels are suitable for a trash can. In short, the lack of following a basic procedure for to clean this mess short-changed the Speed Queen; it is amazing it still did great.

    I have this washer and it took me awhile to figure out which settings worked best for me. However, once I learned, I have truly enjoyed this washer. I either pre-soak or pre-treat any stains that will be a nusance. Other than that, the TR7 is a fantastic washer. I am extremely satisfied with it.

      Stubborn stains need pretreatment in most cases, regardless of what washer one uses anyway. I use an old-school SQ that still does warm rinses, which I like very much, and it has electromechanical dials. I will keep this machine for as long as it can be repaired. However, I do very much like the programming and options on the TR7

    Well. I have this model. I had the earlier 2010 model. I sold it because it beat my clothes to death. Nothing lasted more than a year. With this new model, it cleans without doing damage and relies on what I think is a "smart wash". With this approach, if you have ground in dirt or grease, you pick a normal cycle but add the additional soak option and you get great results without destroying your clothes. Also, always use the auto level button, it is the best in the business and never fails.

    I'm from Brazil, and always find funny that people in US thinks that a 45 minute cycles is a long cycle.
    Here in Brazil, the average time for the normal cycle is about 1:30h and for heavy-duty it's about 2:40h ( some models this cycle gets even more longer )
    So 65 minutes for the heavy-duty isn't that longer.

    There is definitely turn over happening. It’s the opposite to what one would usually observe in a regular agitator washer. Clothes move away from the agitator instead of towards it. I still think that SQ engineers could redesign the tub/agitator to create more turbulence/movement.

    • @chineeboy18
      @chineeboy18 3 місяці тому

      You're absolutely right. In this new design it works similar to the HE Top loaders with the was plate. The load moves towards the sides of the tub and resurfaces in the middle of the wash action. I guess the fuss is the fact that no one is accustomed to seeing a top loading machine with an agitator doing this.

    This is a good machine. People that say it isn't haven't used it, but it is different than the TC. In the real world, this load should have soaked, pre-washed, and max soil with hot water. That's over an hour wash for sure, so I get the point of shortening this for video purposes, but that's what I would have done. I had to return the TC because of standpipe foam with a thimble of soap, so I make the best of the TR.

I only ever use heaby duty.. and after a lot of experimentation I actually use Auto for the water unless im doing sheets and bedspreads.. ive found that just filling it doesnt give you the best wash action.. you dont want the load to complwetely float like it did here.. you want it to be semi close to each other.. my machine does a much ,ore respectable job after ive learned to use heavy duty and auto fill for most cycles.. a load as dirty as yours really you should call for an extra rinse.. run that test again on auto fill and watch it.. while ive always been a fan of traditional machines i actually am liking this machine.. but there are some clothes that I believe you just need to beat to death with an agitator like the TC5 does...

    I would not blame either powder or machine for the result on that dirty wash. The machine did well in my opinion. We just have to use a prewash and a spin on the worst jobs, and maybe sort the worst out for a separate turn in the machine? In some tests powders with percarbonate and oxy clean have done better than most other detergents by far, but that is in warm to hot water and longer cycles. In cold water washes other types do a better job. With an hour of soaking and a some agitation now and then, the powders with percarbonate removed even old and stubborn staining. Real life loads of dirty laundry are different than most tests done on both machines and detergents.
    Funny how everyday tasks and challenges like these come to our attention, over and over ;- )
