Brother Luke, thank you so much for the consideration of not bombarding us with crap advertisements. In my opinion, I hate what commercials have become, I mean, back in the day it was "So and so's bleach, really gets your whites white, so and so's" and that's it, all i need to hear about a product, but no, billion dollar industry to try and trick me into buying something I don't need. Thanks for all you do at The Outdoor Gear Review! 👍
I came to your channel for the honest budget gear reviews, stayed for the impeccable cinematography & editing (and gorgeous colour grading!) Not to mention the beautiful forest sounds, excellent survival advice, and the friendly atmosphere :) Really appreciate all your hard work, in so many different aspects of your videos. Big thank you from the UK :)
Luke, I respect that you are a moral man. It is one of the reasons I really like you, and your videos. Also the fact you are so creative! I agree and you are totally validated, keep people aware of the scams and garbage. So many people will buy or invest in something just because the person they respect said it was a good idea.
Hi, am typing this at the 27:27 mark. From now on any vids of yours that I watch I will let the Ads play out. I got burned by a product a while back that was supposed to be mainly for kids, was a mechanical V8 engine with chains, moving parts etc that you put together, got it for my friends kids. What I got was a lump of plastic in the shape of a V8 engine. Since then I do not buy anything advertised on UA-cam as the hassle to send back Bullshit Stuff is utterly incredible. Many Thanks for your honesty and integrity, it won't be forgotten.
Hi Luke. I’m a keen motorcycle camper and have been using the lone rider tent for the last 3 years and I absolutely love it. Your comments regarding the pack size are understandable but I’ve never found this to be a problem. The sheer size of the tent means when I unload my bike I can get everything undercover and still not feel cramped. I thought your review was very fair - as I expect from you. Keep making great videos my friend
And your bike is? Acquaintances I see at Suches GA have these. These are great and pretty comfortable....however they have Goldwing sized or large adventure bikes. I have a 250 backcountry bike, so I can't carry something this big. Mine is a 2lb mini dome with a 1/2lb tarp extra to give me a vestibule.
I'm so glad your reviewing this tent Luke. As a keen motorcycle camper I've had my eye on this for quite some time. Appreciate you trying stuff that isn't your normal groove. Very much looking forward to your full review. Your the most trusted reviewer out there and I value your opinion.
Same- Been wondering about this tent and also the Abel Brown. Currently in the process of rebuilding my bike with some upgrades through the winter, will be on the road camping and road tripping for a good while when the spring hits.
Buddy of mine has that tent in a one person size. Very nice but it’s big. He rides a big GSA so ok to haul but not for lightweight packing. The canopy area is very very useful!
I can say, I love mine. I don’t have a passenger so the tent is strapped there and gives me handy lower lumbar support!! I really like the tent when I’m going to be in an area for a couple of days, it is really comfortable in those cases…
I want to thank you for both the adventure but more than that the cleaning up of other people's mess. I try to do that as well when I'm out and it doesn't matter if I'm out camping, hiking or just around my hood. I hate messy anything or places. So thank you it's nice to know I'm not the only one who does that.
Luke I agree with you on scams. I don't understand how people fall for them. I truly appreciate you and your logical ways of making sense for all viewers. Awhile back my brother and I were at Aspen Dental. He had a coupon he wanted to use for the bill. He was told that the coupon was a scam. My brother then asks how can you tell it's a scam? The nurse behind the desk said "They never put out a coupon for Aspen Dental!". She went on to say that they research a coupon all the way through their headquarters to know whether Aspen Dental put out the coupon or it's a scam. Sick stupid world we live in! Laura
I don't camp, never been camping. Some reason I'm watching all your videos. The Editing, relief shots, incidental shots, and conversation to viewers I find relaxing 😎 Thanks
The only things that I like about your videos are that you show that it's raining and I love the rain, and the other thing is that you show what you are cooking and you show when you are eating it and I like to watch people eating what they cook especially when they are camping, I don't know why but I like to watch them enjoying their meals that they cook
I've used the Lone Rider tent for a few years of motorcycle camping. Yes it does weigh a bit more and pack a little larger than some other options. But I can't say enough about the ability to roll into a site in the rain, put he rain fly up, get the bike inside and zip everything closed, and be out of the elements. From within the dryness I have everything I own inside with me. I deploy the inner tent, setup a chair, access all my gear, never having to be out in the rain. If I wake up and it's still raining, I can pack everything up without it getting wet. The last thing is to take down the rain fly, stow it and head out. In nice dry weather the tent can sometimes seem like overkill. But on nasty rainy nights, it is so nice having a mini hotel for the bike and all my gear to be able to get out of the rain.
I love watching you and how precise you are in all your movements. Between yourself and AB Camping with Tony, you guys are really making me want to go camping again. It's been about 35 years and I still have all my dad's "outdated" camping gear.
I know some channels that I really like were selling Established Titles garbage which surprised me. It's like naming a star registry, what a scam. I respect your channel because I know you have totally tested an item. I have made purchases based on your testing and have never been disappointed. Thanks for your guidance.
My wife asked if you can add the metric system in Celsius for the viewers in Europe 😊. Great episode what a nice tent and we love the landcruiser 😍. Much love from Holland
I watch ur channel because you are a straight up guy. And I think that is awesome. Everything I've bought that u have recommended has been exactly what u claim it to be. For that I thank you.
Just as an answer to your last question: Lone Rider is a very nice heavy tent....depends on the bike. A big cruiser bike like a Goldwing or any luggaged out cruiser...or a big adventure bike the tent makes sense. You can keep your bike under cover and keep food, cooking gear and dry clothes in your hard cases...but get to them in dry cover. If you have a 600cc bike or smaller, or a dual sport dirt bike, then these are far to heavy and bulky for most models. Lone Rider is as heavy as my large Sunrise dome tent (similar price) which can take two queen size airbeds inside. It is a great two person car tent though, and the design is very sturdy in wind and rain from when I see them set up at motorcycle campgrounds around Suches and Robbinsville. A good base camp fir a several night stay. I however have a smaller traditional bike so I carry a 3 lb tent and tarp setup.
I mean he does have a Patreon, a website, a merch store, and he posts all of his equipment because he personally profits off of people using his links, but good on him for not having sponsorships I guess. Of course every video he ends up airing his grievances about something, but he does that for free, so I guess that makes him a better person than those other outdoors people.
I watch a fair few folks' camping videos; but there's something about watching videos and knowing the spots are within only a couple hours of where I live that makes these videos even more enjoyable and get's me hyped to get out there. Appreciate you dude!
I totally agree with you about UA-camrs trying to sell bad stuff just to get some extra money! You're doing great! I originally subscribed to see some real tests how different tents deal with different weather, but seeing your adventurers with your wife Suzy are the best ones, in my opinion! As a couple it's important to be able to work together, and it's enjoyable to see! Thank you, and kind greetings from Sweden.
Always enjoy your videos Luke! Just to let you know, an inline 6 cylinder ( I-6) is different than a V-6. It's the configuration of the cylinders -NOT an inline V-6 (probably just misspoke). Yours is I-6 inline which gives you more torque than a V-6. Also most I-6's are super reliable! Interesting tent - a little pricey, but interesting none the less. Greetings from about an hour East of you!
I like the sound of rain on tent/tarp it's like a sleep inducer, we had a metal roof on our house when I was a youngster and the sound of rain would help me sleep,it's like a white noise with rain it deadened other sounds, it's so relaxing to hear. Maybe some will park their motorcycles into to keep dry and to protect from theft with it inside with you instead of being outside where you cannot see it or hear if anything around the motorcycle
Hi Luke, love this tent! When you talk about "doing the right thing" about junk equipment, I have found that you point out both good and bad things. Selling junk equipment, not only a waste of $, but can endanger a person, wet and cold, and screw up a otherwise good time, I find your reviews excellent . I appreciate the discomfort suffered for us, testing junk out. Thanks
Sometimes, just kicking back listening to the sound of rain hitting your tent is the perfect therapy! Heck, go to bed early with only the sounds of nature around you. Wake up refreshed and ready to take on another day! Thanks for being moral in your character and don’t explain to those who don’t care why you are the way you are. They will never understand! Great video.
My name is Jim and I love watching you have 57 years old use the hot and fish all the time and somehow lost time to do it all you're getting me back out there thank you you do have strength and honor
I was watching this video and thinking to myself about how much gear you've probably amassed during the evolution of the channel.... and then wondering what your storage setup would look like. Something that I would absolutely love to see is a video showing how you organize and store all of it. Just an idea!
I love this channel Luke...but you gotta step up your food game. 😆 My boys and I would take lamb chops, steak, bratwurst & pasta backpacking over 3 days in SlickRock/Joyce Kilmer and haul in whiskey wine and craft beer. Yes we had heavy packs but we ate well. 🍻 Cheers.
When I was in the military I had a pup tent of canvas. Two of us had to share the tent. We were always encouraged to ditch the tent and NEVER touch the inside. I did one night and spent a miserable night. I can't walk very well anymore and I'm not in good condition, but love your shows. Keep up the good work.
Hey mate, noticed in both your Landcruiser vids now you have said it has an inline V6. A V6 would have the pistons in 2 banks of 3, making a V shape an Inline 6 is when the piston configuration is a line, like in the Landcruiser :) Love your vids keep up the awesome work.
I've done a similar dinner using summer sausage, as it doesn't need refrigeration. I also bring along some freeze dried veggies to reconstitute and add to it, and also the powdered materials to make bannoch biscuits. As for the cooking source you used for the coffee/tea pot, using liquid fuel could be dangerous if it tipped over, potentially allowing the fuel to spread flames everywhere.
I have the LoneRider Mototent as well. I use it on all my motorcycle trips and love it. I bought mainly for being able to not have to be inside the tent inclement weather just like your video. Plus I’m 6’3” and hate getting into my motorcycle gear bent over. I have used this tent in torrential downpour and in storm last summer that had tornado touch down 2 miles from me. Tent held up no problem and I stayed warm, comfortable and dry. Love your videos and standards and love to watch your review of this tent.
Thanks for always keeping it real, Luke! I know when I watch you review gear, it's 100% honest with no ulterior motives. That's rare these days! And MUCH appreciated! You are a man of character, which is lacking in so many people anymore. One of the BEST channels on YT, right here!
you make setting it up so easy, I bought this as my first tent a few weeks ago for a camping trip next year. I spent about 40 minutes yesterday trying to find where I am meant to put the stakes in and i could barely get the poles in. In the end it wouldn't stand correctly so I'm hoping to try again on a less windy day
Don't worry, we all have trouble working out a new tent setup. You're doing the right method - try it and master setting it up before you head out on a camping trip with it. The time you spend now learning how to setup will save time in the long run and you can really enjoy the camping experience once you go. How about videoing your attempts - keep the successful one as reference for the future in setting it up and you'll always know what goes where.
There is something so completely satisfying about being in the rain and able to stay dry. I love the sound of thunder and watching lightening. Looking forward to the storms we are supposed to get tonight. I guarantee I'll be sitting under my covered porch taking it all in...
I’m watching from Australia. I find it funny to see a tent without a floor built in. Most of our tents over here have a built in floor and it’s so much easier to keep clean. Love your channel
It's a motorcycle tent so you keep your motorcycle 8n the front part o f the tent which is why it doesn't have a floor. The back or sleeping part of the tent does have a floor though.
those trucks are very popular here in New Zealand. Being the six cylinders in line engine they do have sustaining torque where you need it, the truck doesn't break speed records but are brilliant for back country work
Luke, have you and Suzy ever thought of taking at trip to Switzerland, like a small town there and making a video of that. Just hiking around and checking out local spots and taking in the scenery. That would be a amazing video and I think a great vacation for you both.
Everytime I see you posted a new video it makes my day. I miss camping so much. I’ve been ill Hope to get back to it in April. For now I live camping through your videos. Thanks!
The rain, distant thunder and sizzling food was enough to make me want to go to bed early too!! Lol! Your content, straight forwardness and honesty is awesome. Love the new truck and take care!
I really enjoy watching your videos. They are so relaxing and I'm not an outdoorsy person but you're starting to convert me and I don't think my girlfriend would mind because she loves camping and being outdoors. I will be taking all your tips/tricks as well as recommendations to heart. Great content and can't wait for your next adventure. Take care and god bless!
Thank you Luke ! One of my favorite UA-camrs idc how popular or busy you are you will always get back to your fans thanks for the convo hope you had a great Christmas! And hope you have even better new years can’t Waite to see your accomplishments for 2023 !! Got the rain jacket you recommend and thanks for your input 🤘🏼 keep camping love the content
I really like this camping trip. And I'm glad you don't pawn camping gear on the sly, like some others do.. I bet you, Steve and crazy Neighbor would have a damn good time on a camp out together. Happy New Year keep pumping out the videos.
I work in retail, so I understand a certain amount of how we work as a society is solicitation. I respect your personal stance, but on the other hand I can see how people could see a benefit to plugging items/sponsorships, the thing is they should definitely vet the products...reputation is one of the most valuable commodities one has in our society.
Hi Luke! Hope Susie and all your family are having a wonderful holiday season! I recognize most of your gear, especially the stove, table and chair. That tent looks wonderful for the cyclists! Bathtub floors are great, and those two awnings, SWEET! But Luke, slant the awning away from where you will walk, namely close to your vehicle.
I agree. You bring such happiness to the joy of camping and what it truly means. The fact that you give great advice only adds to the caliber of your channels. Thanks so much. B
Hi Luke. Love your vids, keep it up. One point I'll make on the Lone Rider tent. When it starts to rain, I lower the ends of the awnings just enough so the water runs AWAY from the tent, not back towards it, where it would drain off basically into the corners of the openings. Then, if needed at bedtime, I zip the awnings almost closed, as you did with the side awning. I love the Lone Rider I have. Best holiday wishes to your whole family!
You, nice sir. Are a treat to the whole UA-cam community, especially standing up for the wrong doing of other people and defending customers like our self's!
Hi Luke, this is John with SoCal Outdoor Adventure. Something you might want to consider for your Land Cruiser is an auto start feature. Comes in handy especially on those cold nights or mornings. Great video and Happy New Year.
I have just started watching your videos, and can I say you are an honest, genuine person, that helps me get through the tough times and I wish you and your family well
Another one of your motorcycle subscribers here. This looks like a fantastic tent. Now there is another biker oriented tent made by Abel Brown called the Nomad. Not as feature rich, but is smaller and lighter.
It's literally been four and a half decades, but now that I'm retired I'll get out again, but I was in Glacier National Park with a dear friend who's no longer with us, and we had three days of heavy rain. I don't think there is a more comforting sound or environment than rain on a tent in the great outdoors. Now, three days of it? It gets old. LOL. Great video man.
I was searching “camping in my car”
& this video popped up. I think I like it here. The rain has seriously beguiled me. Think I’ll stick around.
There is nothing nicer than the sound of rain on a tent
Yes there is…moon light on the tent👍🏻
@@fairwind8222 🤣

"The good people have to make up for the bad", that shows the quality of human being you are. You're awesome and I'm glad I've found this channel.
you make setting it up so easy, I bought this as my first tent a few weeks ago for a camping trip next year.
Also, your cinematography is just getting better and better. The post-dinner scenes were really great. Composition, color grading, atmosphere... 💯👍
Love storm camping! 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Ginger is good for your bones an old Autheritus.I always make me some tea with ginger. It also takes the inflammation out of your body
those trucks are very popular here in New Zealand. Being the six cylinders in line engine they do have sustaining torque where you need it, the truck doesn't break speed records but are brilliant for back country work
Most straight up channel on UA-cam... gotta love it
Luke, have you and Suzy ever thought of taking at trip to Switzerland, like a small town there and making a video of that. Just hiking around and checking out local spots and taking in the scenery. That would be a amazing video and I think a great vacation for you both.
I love the attitude. “The good people need to make up for the bad people. Cheers to the good people”
A simple word of encouragement goes a long way.
Everytime I see you posted a new video it makes my day. I miss camping so much. I’ve been ill Hope to get back to it in April. For now I live camping through your videos. Thanks!
Sure its been said somewhere , but no such thing as an inline V6. Enjoy your new truck . Really enjoy your vids.
The rain, distant thunder and sizzling food was enough to make me want to go to bed early too!! Lol! Your content, straight forwardness and honesty is awesome. Love the new truck and take care!
Thank you for the support, it really means a lot my friend.

Thank you for the “ no ads “ 👍🏻
I really enjoy watching your videos. They are so relaxing and I'm not an outdoorsy person but you're starting to convert me and I don't think my girlfriend would mind because she loves camping and being outdoors. I will be taking all your tips/tricks as well as recommendations to heart. Great content and can't wait for your next adventure. Take care and god bless!
Thank you for being one of the good guys!
Thank you Luke ! One of my favorite UA-camrs idc how popular or busy you are you will always get back to your fans thanks for the convo hope you had a great Christmas! What I really love about your videos is that you give us a chance just to listen to the ambience. What you say is important but so are your silences.
I really like this camping trip. And I'm glad you don't pawn camping gear on the sly, like some others do.. I bet you, Steve and crazy Neighbor would have a damn good time on a camp out together. Happy New Year keep pumping out the videos.
Thank you for not pawning garbage on your channel. YT interrupts with enough ads as it is. New sub just for your upstanding principles.
Thank you Luke for this video,, awesome set up and cheers to the good people and a Happy New Year!
I love your stormy camping trips. They are very relaxing.
love the new ride
You're a Good Man, sir. Appreciate what you do and the mantra you do it with.
How many times have you hopped in the wrong door? :)
Thanks Luke for sharing another fantastic video! It’s very much appreciated for all your hard work to produce these wonderful videos!
I agree. You bring such happiness to the joy of camping and what it truly means. The fact that you give great advice only adds to the caliber of your channels. Thanks so much. B
Love this episode! Thank you for all the hard work man!
Reminding oneself of the meaning of words - priceless. Thank you for this overnighter.
Great editing as usual, makes watching your videos a real pleasure. Well done and thank you for the effort.
Thank you for the NO ADS!!!
Your episodes continue to be informative, interesting and very much therapeutic.
Continue the great work! Cheers. Glen
That dialogue " The good people have to make up for the bad, thats how it is!! Thats how life goes" wins the best dialogue of 2022
Hi Luke, this is John with SoCal Outdoor Adventure. Something you might want to consider for your Land Cruiser is an auto start feature. Comes in handy especially on those cold nights or mornings. Great video and Happy New Year.
I have just started watching your videos, and can I say you are an honest, genuine person, that helps me get through the tough times and I wish you and your family well
Love you man! Always new great videos
You are so right, Luke. Whatever happened to the Golden Rule. I LOVE the sound of the rain. It is so soothing and makes for a great sleep medicine.
inline V6! : )
Dang pigs can't clean up after themselves!!! Luke I love that frying pan, it's awesome!!!
you didn't just say inline V-6 engine did ya?
I just want to say “thanks” for sharing about sponsorship. Your a man of integrity. I love all your videos.
Another one of your motorcycle subscribers here. This looks like a fantastic tent.
Now there is another biker oriented tent made by Abel Brown called the Nomad.
Not as feature rich, but is smaller and lighter.
