I picked up a 1990 or 91 I don't remember, repainted the whole thing. Wetsanded and buffed it. Repainted the deck as well all in base clear and love the tractor. It has 1200 hours and runs... like a Deere! Great machine! Will keep it until I die!
That engine sounds pretty sweet. Have a larger JD (2320) with the Yanmar & would be nice to have a small one like that. Those engines sip fuel compared to gas.
Those things run forever, I had an uncle who lived a bit north of you who had one, it had over 10,000 hours on it when he sold it 10 years ago. Those are hard to find, harder to find with a good deck. Your serial number says its a 1985 model, (second year for those). I've been looking for one myself for a while but haven't found one in my price range yet. Most seem to sell well over $3k if they're even close to being a running machine. There was over in Jersey for $6500 over the summer, and another one for $3800 that didn't run. Either way, nice find.

They have either a single- or twin-cylinder [larger horsepower] engine, which is usually positioned up front (with the exception of the Gravely, which is rear-engine, but still considered a garden tractor), and the operator at the rear. All garden tractors also have a automotive-type heavy gauge steel rail frame and a solid cast iron front axle. They can be either hydrostatically driven by a driveshaft or V-belt, or have a disc-clutch/driveshaft connected to a heavy manual-shift cast iron (IH Cub Cadet) or heavy aluminum (MTD-built Cub Cadet) housing/case transaxle. And they have 8" diameter wheels on the front, with 12" wheels on the rear. The rear wheels are fastened to axle flanges by automotive-style lug bolts or studs/tapered nuts. The mower deck is positioned midway and have either two or three blades. Garden tractors work best for heavy yard and garden use and/or competition pulling. The next step up is the "Compact Tractor," which is larger than a garden tractor, but not as large as a traditional farm tractor. Dang, 10,000 hours?
I have a 1986 330 John deere 50 inch deck .lil diesel engine. My grands love to ride it around in the yard. I love it. By the way it was given to me
Vary good
How much would you say this is worth? one is listed in my area for 4K 1991
I Think that'd be a far more useful snowblower/plow mower than a lawn mower, Only because I wouldn't want a gas guzzler for the lawn.
