  • I upgraded my Variator and put some 4 gram Dr Pulley sliding Weights in. Comparing that to the Stock Variator with 5 gram Dr Pulley Sliders.
Restrictor washer has been removed from all test
    Pretty happy with the results

I like what you have done to your C3 with changing out the stock variator and using the Dr. Pulley weights. That is definitely something I am going to do with my new to me 2007 C3.
I've actually used the Dr. Pulley brand of variator CVT weights before. On my little Hammerhead 250 water cooled two seat buggy. Those with a bunch of other aftermarket parts, like the spring in the CVT, bigger carb and exhaust system, air filter, and better shocks all the way around.
The before and after was just a amazing difference between being stock. Before, even though it has a 250cc water cooled engine in it. It also weighs a lot because the whole frame and suspension parts are all made out the steel tubing.
I was lucky if I could get it to go 45 to 50 Mph in the stock condition with just me driving it. After I put all the aftermarket parts on it. I could easily go 60 to 65 Mph with two people in it!
Guess what I am getting at is, those Dr. Pulley CVT weights are definitely worth the money!

You need to mark your variator with a sharpy. When your rollers are to light, you will see how far the belt has been going inside the variator, because it takes away the paint..the belt should go all the way inside the variator. You need to use the torque spring Polini for better take off, the original is too soft and makes it go slow on take off. The springs inside the clutch need to be replaced by the polini for longer high ref on take off. Rollers should be minimum of 4.8 gram. Lower will result in to much rpm. And you need to change the throttle body hose to maximum inside diameter, the original is to small on the inside. Make sure that the hose has no air leaks between the throttle body and the airfilter box, because of bad cold start/ no start. The ecu is critical in the right air to fuel ratio, because of the injector. Hope i helped, it should now do 45mph and have fast take off.

Did the 4g sliders come with your polini kit and where did you get it?

The Polini kit comes with 4.9 gram rollers. I actually did not use/try the rollers that came with it. I ordered the DR Pulley sliders when I ordered the Polini kit. 4.5 grams works well IMO. Polini uses 16x 13 weights compared to stock 15x12

I initially installed the Green clutch springs and the Blue Torque Spring. The Blue torque spring was too stiff and made performance worse. The Green clutch springs in my opinion did not really make much of a difference. The Variator and the Dr Pulleys make the biggest improvement. At least with my results.
