If you are an expat planning to put roots in the Phillipines, the first time you land, look for the nearest mountain/hill, secluded beach with a breathtaking view. Climb the top or find the most solemn spot, then... scream, shout, cry, and just let all your anger, frustrations, regrets, etc. out at the top of your lungs! Then, write them down with a piece of paper and bury them there. Turn around and start being a new man/woman or person. 😊 Welcome to the Phillipines, and we welcome a new you!😊

Hi John, I have been living in the PI for over 5 years and have been following Philippine news and politics for over 50 yrs. I am a friend of G&H too. They like my sense of humor. I first came here in 1997 and wanted to travel around, see as much as I could, and hopefully find a Girlfriend. I found my GF working in Hong Kong where she was working for a Chinese family as a Nanny. A year later, we got married by the mayor of the city she was from. I was working in Taiwan teaching English. I went back to the USA and worked on getting her Visa to the USA.. We had a great time in Arizona, then I retired from teaching and got a job as a Park Ranger with the US Fish and Wildlife Service for year. Maita started working as soon as she got her Green card and did very well. About 12 years later, she asked me if I wanted to move back to the Philippines. I said yes and here we are. We picked the right place for us as She has plenty of family around, the weather is great and the locals are very friendly and welcoming to us. Happy to be here.

I think it's better to wait at least 5 years before getting legally married. Once all the issues are settled, writing a prenup to solidify the relationship is wise.

You make no sense! Im long term since 2009, you have to be stupid not to withdraw all the money especially when the exchange rate is high because it will drop! I think that you provide good insight and I don’t know I guess maybe it’s just me but financial worry is always been something I’ve had to deal with and it’ll be no different for me over there than it is here, I’m always concerned that I don’t have enough. I think that’s primarily because of the way I grew up.

In one luckily I made already the first time I visited the Philippines several bad experiences, still I liked the country and came back many times and even then made negative experiences. 8 learned always a little bit more and thought more about all the things I like very much. It's just important to learn from the bad and enjoy what you like...the Philippines are very nice

Some of this is spot on. Especially the part about using your eyes instead of your mouth. I don’t agree with you on criticizing a server who gives you very poor service. If you don’t say something to them, it’s never going to change and improve. I have had the worst service in the Philippines of any place I’ve ever visited. It’s no different than I would complain in my home country. It’s not that I’m toxic. You claim it’s more that I have high standards. I just feel it’s better to call a spade to spade. And in the end, it’s less gratuity for the server so they really need to understand.

The biggest mistake is to be an expat. If you can afford it, be a snowbird here. I own 2 properties in Fl. I enjoy the hunting and fishing seasons there. I own a condo at Mandani Bay in Cebu City. I stay there 5 mos. 3 weeks, then go home before I need an exit clearance. I use a visa agency and have never step foot inside a BI office and their associated BS I tell every woman I meet that any relationship is over when I go back to Florida. I meet a new woman when I come back over. When the noise, pollution, poor service, bad internet, out of stock items gets on my nerves, I go back back to Florida, hunt, fish, smoke legal pot. Then when I want to meet a good looking morena, I come back to Cebu. 39 yrs. old, retired, no desire for marriage or commitment. Life is sweet
