As a general rule and because it was only mentioned briefly: The best counter against bitterness is not sweetness but saltiness. So that's why the salt is so important in a hot chocolate to balance the natural bitterness of the chocolate :)
If anyone wants a really low calorie italian style thick hot chocolate then here is it. My sister and I created this iver lockdown 200mls unsweetened almond milk 1 serving 40 calorie hot chocolate mix( cadburys or options) 3g cocoa powder Stevia to taste 12-13g of corn flour Optional but worth it Mixed spice 1-2 teaspoons single cream Half serving of the hot chocolate powder Singke Square of dark chocolate Take the milk, drink mix, cocoa powder and if adding mixed spice in a pan on the heat and heat until bubbling. Mix the corn flour with a little water to make a loose paste and pour about 4/5ths in while whisking fast. Cook for about 1-2 min staring constantly. Add the rest of the paste in and keep whisking. Cook until its rlly thick. Take off put in mug. Option but we allways do it Place the dark chocolate in Drink mix on top and give it a quick mix Drizzle of singke cream With the added extras its 207 but can be as low as 160-170 A usual Italian hot chocolate is about 400 cals. This is decent. Not incredible but worth it for its cals when craving
I'm not into desserts but I followed you for your cool ideas. Drinks contain a lot of sugar nowadays and I appreciate this video as something I'd personally make.
I made an alternative version of your oatmeal hot chocolate with a few minor changes. B E S T HOT CHOCOLATE EVER! I blended my oats for the oat flour and used coconut oil to melt the chocolate. It was creamy, thick, rich and so delicious !! 😳❤ thank you !
this isn’t a fancy hot chocolate but I’m pretty sure it’s only like 100 calories... - cocoa powder - honey - boiling water - milk (incredible with soy milk) - cinnamon or mixed spice (optional) - whipped cream/creme fraiche (optional) • first you mix kind of a lot of cocoa powder, honey and boiling water to get a paste (not too thick and add a little bit of cinammon if you want) •then you put the milk in and put it in the microwave on 800W for 1:50 • take it out and straight away put cream or marshmallows on it or whatever (ups calorie count but whatever) enjoy :)
I'm sipping that oatmeal hot chocolate as we speak, and it's just fabulous!! Such a deep resonant flavour, and it's so much more complex and nutty than regular hot chocolate. Just loving it! (Btw this recipe makes enough for two people. It is rich!)
Just found your channel and I love all the recipes! For the hot chocolate, try adding some coffee granules when you’re heating the milk - it helps to bring out the chocolate flavour much more. 😀
Sasha, your great recipes and pleasant voice are so soothing during this very stressful time in the US. If everybody drank some hot chocolate (especially with oats) the world would b a better place💕. Thank you so much my friend😇
