@@fruit4evr well, you also have to consider japan's highly pressured society. It's not all healthy food and good manners. That culture also has a "downside".

Thank you. This channel inspires me so much! I used to be a lazy girl, that would talk back to her mother. I watched this channel and i saw how clean and respectful these girls are, and how they help their parents with cooking and such. It really changed me, i became more respectful and i help my mother in the house a lot! You changed me for the better! It's so addicting to watch your video's and i feel like it has alot of inpact on people. (It had inpact on me) Thank you so much. I love your channel and i'm learning so much because of your video's! Ingredients in order of footage:
    White rice
    Mizuna (water greens/mustard greens)
    Shitake mushrooms
    Tofu
    Cod
    Maitake mushrooms
    mackerel
    Green onion
    Enoki mushrooms
    Shungiku (crown daisy)
    Kombu(kelp) for broth
    Yuzu ponzu (tangy soy sauce)
    Guesstimate recipe:
    Boil kombu
    Add cod first
    Then medium/firm tofu
    Then shitake- maitake- enoki mushrooms
    Then green onions
    After boiling more, add shungiku
    Let simmer more
    Yuzu ponzu (citrusy soy sauce)
Pour approx. 3 teaspoons, or 1 table spoon soy sauce into soup bowls
    In the video:
Add tofu to soup bowls first
    Then shungiku
Then cod (and the rest of what was boiling, but not the water)
Roasted mackerel goes well with white rice with soy sauce
This soup is best fresh so feel free to only use as much ingredients as you think you and your guests will have.
If you have more ingredients after and want more, add them to the same pot and bring it back to boil.

Haha, I think I'll try some advance question answering:
    1. I totally lied, every Japanese meal doesn't have rice. It's a bit of a joke in our family. Mummy panics if there's not rice in the rice cooker. We don't eat rice at every meal, but it's pretty rare that someone in our family doesn't eat rice at least once a day.
    2. Aiko was sick that day (as seen at the end of the video), so we didn't do much talking while filming that day. I normally wouldn't have filmed (we only film if the kids want to), but her great Uncle and Aunt had put together the meal for us just so we could film it, so we didn't want to waste the opportunity.
    3. I did the subtitles in English, but left out a few spots where I didn't quite know how to translate correctly. I'll try to get it sorted when mummy comes home tonight. If you want to sub in other languages, please be my guest :-)
    4. Oops, forgot this one! Yes, mummy doesn't like to show her face. That's just how she is. Nothing more than that :-)

+Life Where I'm From Lmao it's the same thing with us Lao people. We joke around saying we eat rice at every meal but in reality we don't. I freak out when there's no rice in the rice cooker so i make it. I feel it 100.

I know this is an older video, but in Mexico we always have beans and orange rice as side dishes for basically every meal. If not both, then at least one of the dishes. For example, this morning I had eggs, beans, salsa, and tortillas. For lunch, I had orange rice, beans, nopales (cactus), salsa and tortillas. Hi, I'm from India and I think you are doing a great job! All the videos possess this humane quality to it ; besides from being instructive about the Japanese culture. Love that it has a specific focus on Aikko's experience as a Japanese-Canadian in Japan and just adore the spontaneity of the children. My absolute favourite is the athletic park one for some reason. I saw all the videos within the span of an hour. You two must be real great parents for your children seem cheerful, interactive, uninhibited and curious at all times. Thanks for not scolding them all the time like my oh so strict parents did! Let it be a lesson to all the parents. Give a big hug to Aikko and Shin from my side. :) I would love to see them take a calligraphy lesson or visit some cool- weird restaurants in Japan or scrap all that and make a video of activities they love to do watching that will be fun!

A Bullock We ate chicken adobo alot growing up too. My mom would cook it often (she's black). I think she fell in love with chicken adobo while in the Marine Corps ---stationed in the Philippines.

Yeah like it’s actually their fault. People blame the individual for a widespread crisis when its mostly larger and more sinister entities that are responsible. The food industry went on an anti fat campaign, demonizing fat and creating fat free products.this made health in the us worse as fat was substituted for extra sugar and carbs to compensate for changes in taste. Then the us govt tells ppl to eat lots of carbs and fat free products. Who decided upon the food pyramid? Who told us to take a certain amount of vitamins a day? Items banned in Europe and Canada are widespread in the us. Gone are the days of when the 3 branches of the US government were the executive, legislative and the judicial branches as these roles were taken by the lobbyists representing the legislative branch, MSM representing the judicial branch and the executive branch scribbling papers all day to make stuff look legit.

Nothing wrong with tofu. We've been eating it for generations and we're fine.

Japanese cuisine is tasty, healthy and remarkable. Notice how ingredients are cut and prepared so delicately--and there is balance of rice, vegetables, proteins. Just Delightful. 👪💓💓
