King iBeezey you’re too funny😂. One thing to take note of is that You can’t compare teenagers to younger children and many kids actions around their parents are very different than their actions around their friends or on social media!
King iBeezey I’m kind of confused of what you mean by that exactly but I definitely think it all goes back to who you surround yourself with and remember that one child/person cannot be a reflection of the society as a whole because that’s simply a generalization!
My question at the end, "What's a house party like where you're from?" obviously is a very different question now than was intended back when I filmed this. Only a couple weeks has passed, yet the world is such a different place. Our family has been on self-imposed isolation for a bit now, seeing how things have gone around the world. Keep safe everyone and I hope this can bring a bit of lightness into your lives for a brief moment. - Greg
For my family, when we get invited it's a Cantonese party so there's a lot of food. People bring a plate of food and the kids get shuffled to one room, and we just go on our electronics. The parents either go talk with friends, spill tea or the more drunk members go sing karaoke up until 2 am
I'm african canadian and we are VERY loud at house parties. We always have enough food to feed an army and we play a lot of card games (and everyone cheats lol). As the night went on we usually just slept over at the host's house.
I'm from South Africa and generally a dinner party is just a braai - a bunch of people gathering around a fire pretending to grill meat and talking about emigration, the rugby and latest political scandal Everyone gets really drunk and fills up on crisps while waiting for the meat to cook. Some people take the food prep seriously and make the best grilled meat dishes you've ever seen.
I like to party alone. After a hot Summer's Day in the cool of the evening I take a shower put on my jammies get out my ambrosia salad, light a candle, put on some classical hymns, and read my Bible. I have peace Beyond peace in these times. Of course if anyone would like to join me they are more than welcome

The guy at the end IS INCREDIBLE. Mushing that entire hand size "temaki" sushi into his mouth is the video embodiment of me eating leftovers at 3am in the morning. Btw, nice video Greg!
I just saw a very interesting video on this and how it’s very important in Japanese conversations for people to chime in when someone makes a statement it’s seen as very polite. A very endearing quality, the self agreeing head nodding “mmmm”
In Portugal, that "mmmm" usually means that you disagree with what was said, unless you nod a yes or put a break in between the mmmm, like mhmm. So it's kinda funny to see people say that in Japanese since it looks like they are always disagreeing with each other
I’m Asian-American. Although, growing up I always sat at the “Adult Table”. On the rare occasions when we would go out to eat, I never had the kids menu. I ate luke a normal human. I also ordered my food. Now that I’m older, I’m extremely glad! It helped shape my personality.

Greg, surprisingly house parties in Japan are quite similar here (not teenage parties or frat parties) here it’s all about getting together with friends you already know and Food, Food, Food! Usually friends also arrive early and help out with prep work as it’s part of the fun and social. We tend to drink quite a lot of wine and Prosecco / cava and there might be some party games or board games and a little bit of dancing. There is usually and equal amount of desserts as the main food too!
In Poland typical family meeting (at least in my family) starts with the dinner. Traditional, or rather mainstream dishes are 'rosół' and 'schabowy', you can google that to find out how does it look like, we don't really need many dishes because slavic cuisine contains a lot of fat compared to the Japanese one, so you are full after just 2 dishes. Next is desert, typically cakes called sernik, szarlotka or mazurek, mostly they are home made. Usually we don't dance either, unless there is vodka on the table 😉 All jokes aside, alcohol is part of the culture in Poland, so we find it normal to drink in such as parties. Then it's the time for supper: sałatka jarzynowa - vegetable salad with sausage, cheese, white bread etc. In the summer the supper is BBQ in the backyard, btw this is normal to change the spots of meeting, eg. from living room to the backyard, from backyard to the neighbour's backyard and so on. I really enjoy my family reunions for many reasons like meeting my cousins, and I think this is the same all around the world 🥰
Lmao this sounds a bit like how my ukrainian family celebrates parties, i only regoniced the word sernik, honestly best dessert. Also true, slavic cuisine has alot of fat, and meat compared to other countries/cultures, like salo for example (if you never tried it i recommend you do, goes good with onion and cooked potato)
I’m two months late to comment but come to Japan and I will show you good time and make you eat all the food. The only thing is if I ever come to Poland you show me a good time and make me eat all the food haha. The best parties in any country are the ones among friends and family. Greetings from Japan! All the best to Poland!
Goodness the kids have gotten so big!!!! If we weren’t in quarantine I would of loved to be at this party. Hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy.
Can't have nothing nice in America! I once left my hobo bag at the library and when I finally realized like ten minutes into walking home, I turned around and headed back, someone already snatched it. It was a good thing I didn't carry my money or anything important in the bag. But it still was sad.
Yes, I agree. America isn’t safe, you leave something out for a second, your turn around, and your belonging is gone. I also wish in America that biking would be a common transportation rather than cars and that you wouldn’t worry about leaving things out or waking alone at a specific time ( such as night).
What a wonderful show. I enjoyed your family's party. In southern Louisiana, parties at home are similar, but space in less of a limitation. We frequently cook out of doors on the patio and set up tables in the garden area with chairs and guests just fill their plates as they wish and conversation abounds. Sometimes the guests will bring dishes too, especially if it is a family party. Dancing is not normal for the garden; dance parties are more for dancing and eating hors d' oeuvres or canapes and cocktails inside a large venue. Can't wait for the next show. I can't believe your children are so big! Best to the family.
I've been looking for channels that give a more engaging and real view into the lives of other people. The way you make these videos is so natural, human... You're great at this. Thanks!!
how did those kids crack the eggs so well, I'm over here with a smashed egg on the side update: after 2 mins of actual practice and 15 eggs i have now mastered it, crack on a flat surface
Oh God I just love watching videos expressing social and cultural diversity!I honestly don't think I could eat half of the things japanese people are used to consume, and I absolutely love that! The fact that people are so different yet we can all feel a connection when we see other humans spending quality time with their family and friends and just being happy and content it makes me feel so good!🥺
I'm from Brazil~ I've been having House Parties like this with my friends for the past years, we just love to be together in a calm place. We make lots of food and talk until it's very late, since most of us are introverts, we usually don't go out. Sometimes we play some games and dance to our favorire songs, but we usually get really full with food very soon, so we just end up watching a movie afterwards😅
I used to live in japan as a exchange foreign student and im having this nostalgic feeling because of the food. We ALWAYS have parties with other japanese students and they are all so generous with the food. Sushi platter is a must in a party hahaha. They also drink green tea as their "coke". Japanese food is really undescribable. I will legit go back to Tokyo sooon
Tell your sister in law that "she looks fine from all angles"--(Said some American). I'm going to try hosting one of these parties when the quarantine is over.
Can I just say that I love the kids, they seem so sweet and well behaved. Looks like they really are having fun, while they are included into every aspect of the party, that's awesome!
This made me miss my Grandma. She host the best house parties for our family. For fiestas she gets at least 2-3 other grandmas to help out and prepares the food days before the party. We’re Filipino so sometimes she hosts 50-100 people and we help out by giving drinks. Food just keeps on coming out from the kitchen and I never see her complain. She’s just so happy to make everyone happy. Since she passed away the parties aren’t the same but she she left us with all the best memories. 🥰
Is it common in Japanese culture to have so much food to choose from or to eat so much in general? So much food was also prepared and eaten in the camping video. That's why I wonder if this is a typical Japanese thing or maybe just done in your family. Thanks for the insight into japanese Party culture :)
I've been asking about this. It suppose it depends on the host. But my wife was explaining to me that you wouldn't want to have a situation where two guests are trying to decide who gets the last bite, or that someone still feels hungry, so you always want there to be food available. From my limited experience in maybe a dozen households, I don't think the food was ever lacking at any of these little get togethers.
I think it's an Asian thing. House parties are basically for families and close friends so you don't go cheap with ingredients. The recipes are elaborate and varied and quantities are large. Not having enough or not having somebody's, especially a senior family member's, favourite dish is to lose face - at least in my circle.
I've been rewatching this vid because it looks so fun and i never get bored also, Akko trying to compose herself infront of the camera and trying to keep her good angle is so cute!
Gorgeous family gathering. I miss my Mum and her incredible Japanese cooking and her family dinner parties. Thank you for sharing with your video. Your sister-in-law is beautiful too. 💗🌟
In Germany, where I'm from, my houseparties are not much different. The host prepares a lot of food (I'm known for always preparing too much o_o') and when the guests arrive, we eat, drink and talk with each other. I always try to be ready with all the food preparations, but that's something I never get done. So friends offer to help with the cooking and some of us cook together, when the food is ready, everyone eats. And after some time we reach snacks like potato chips, pretzel sticks and so on. Depending on the season we're in, there are often some fruits that are prepared after the "main food" like watermelon or pineapple. And often we have some cake at last. With my friends, it's not so different like where you're from, sometimes we just get together to make pizza together or something like that and yes, we just like to enjoy our time together, talk, eat and sometimes play some games (like werewolf or in smaller groups even board games). So, that's it! Thank you for that great video, I enjoyed it.
In our family, a party never ends till there is atleast one familial argument while kids don't give a damn about what elders are arguing over because that's how our elders show their love to each other. Atleast that's what they say😂
Your sister is a great cook and her handwriting is beautiful! I grew up in Hawaii which is a largely Japanese culture, and so much of this agrees with my idea of the ideal party (except maybe the host having to eat and drink at the sink lol!) and yes, they have those candy sushi kits, called Popin' Cookin', at my beloved Asian markets. There are kits for sushi, hamburgers, all kinds of things. And that roast beef looked wonderful. It makes me miss a long-gone sushi boat place in Sunnyvale, that had mostly-raw beef among a lot of other wonderful things.
That's such a chill party. Everytime my family has had one, it's insanely loud b/c the music and pretty disorganized and my mom is shuffling back and forth from the kitchen with various foods. Some people are outside or in different parts of the house and the kids are normally chilling in their own space playing video games.
After being the host of my departing Japan party, I am happy how well I, INADVERTENTLY, followed the procedure. So much better than some other parts of my stay xD
this makes me miss my host family from japan so much! we used to have a house party like this as my farewell before i leave and we made takoyaki together. honestly the best homemade takoyaki i had.
Omg! I’m from Norway and I love Japanese culture ! This is so fun to watch, everyone coming together and making stuff together! ❤️ hope you had a great time ! Love your videos 💕
Its always a blast to watch your video! I vicariously live through you. Your show is wholesome (rare nowadays) and makes me want to visit Japan! I definitely have to hunt for or learn to make Oden one of these days. Your sister-in-law is a great host. Every entree looks delicious! Great job everyone👍🏼
Honestly I think this kitchen and dining size is perfect, had a chance to experience a house party when I was at Shizuoka for a competition. It was a really memorable experience, even with the slight language barrier, probably the best Oden I ever had. House parties over here in Malaysia are pretty similar but maybe a little more dancing and alcohol depending on the demographic of the guests and occasion.
Wow, how is your neighborhood that beautiful ? I'm from germany and i wished streets would look like that here. The little floating water on the side, these rocks.. This is just so beautiful. Thanks for showing insight into your daily life :) I really enjoy watching your channel, i find the asian culture very interesting and i think we can learn a lot from their ways
Wow, the food and interactions are so incredibly different from what I'm used to experiencing in New Zealand. It's like a different world. Thanks for sharing, this video was eyeopening!
I am slowly falling in love with this channel. I have an infinity with Japanese culture since birth and would love to spend time there. I want to learn everything about it and this channel gives me a nice slice every video. Great work.
I’m from Texas in the USA and here we have these parties called cook outs where at least 20 people spend time out in the countryside barbecuing meat and most people bring a dish as well. Even to me and my cook outs, this video has SO MUCH food 😂
I showed my mom this video, she got obsessed and now we binge you guys together! I'm watching this on my tablet and she's watching another one of your videos on our TV!
Ur sister in law is very beautiful and thanks for posting this video because Spring break I am going to make my grandparents and they are going to have a party and I wonder what’s it likes having a Japanese Party
The food looked amazing! The party looked like a really enjoyable gathering. Getting together with close friends for a meal and to relax and catch up on each others' lives is something I miss right now!

I really wish america was more like this... riding bikes and so warm and traditional etc
Yeah America has no boundaries and no morals whatsoever, people need to learn from them. Japan is my dream place, I hope to go there some day!
Can't have nothing nice in America! I once left my hobo bag at the library and when I finally realized like ten minutes into walking home, I turned around and headed back, someone already snatched it. It was a good thing I didn't carry my money or anything important in the bag. But it still was sad.
PinKPunk everybody gangsta until a 7 foot giant starts stalking you
Yes, I agree. America isn’t safe, you leave something out for a second, your turn around, and your belonging is gone. I also wish in America that biking would be a common transportation rather than cars and that you wouldn’t worry about leaving things out or waking alone at a specific time ( such as night).
@@prosperitae_3493 It isn't just America, it is everyone. A lot of countries have it worse.
Thanks!!
See now THAT'S an amazing party!
All enjoying the food, talking, playing games etc.
Wholesome quarantine content...this has me longing for my friends and our happy social interactions😍
Anyone else come back to this video multiple times during quarantine or lunch/dinner by yourself to get a sense of gathering again?
how did those kids crack the eggs so well, I'm over here with a smashed egg on the side
update: after 2 mins of actual practice and 15 eggs i have now mastered it, crack on a flat surface

True. But our food is very different from theirs, I think we have more caloric snacks like coxinha (♥️) than healthy ones 😅
This is heartwarming. Thank you for inviting all of us to the party.
Tell your sister in law that "she looks fine from all angles"--(Said some American).
I'm going to try hosting one of these parties when the quarantine is over.
Good luck, remember the beef need to rest after cooking
Lol
I love how their "big bag" potato chips are my personal sized ones
Personal?! 😱 Surely lasts at least 3 days, right?
@@Kkstgch i buy a bag of cheetos the same size as the bag of Japanese Chips, and I am done with it by the next day. I don't get full easily

I really enjoyed being invited to this house party! Amazing food, great friends, family and talking bad about husbands!! 🤣
This video made me so happy, and also very hungry. Your sister-in-law seems so great!! It looked like a super fun house party. I love all the food!!
Is it common in Japanese culture to have so much food to choose from or to eat so much in general? So much food was also prepared and eaten in the camping video. That's why I wonder if this is a typical Japanese thing or maybe just done in your family. Thanks for the insight into japanese Party culture :)
when I lived and worked in Japan, picnics and gatherings that I've been to was always like this. (^-^)v
i think in japan, they prepare a variety of foods but no one eats big portions of anything, so you can have a little bit of many things :)
anna fact

The house is so full of love god willing it stays like that
I love how there is a sense of teamwork in children and family! And obviously they eat healthy at parties! ❤
It's aiko, shin, and shoko! Good to see them growing up nicely 😊
Kids are well behaved also. Here in the states, damn kids would be running all over the damn place.
And breaking household objects, as well as playfighting
I don’t know where u live but where I live (U.S as well) kids are nice over here
Kids will be kids
@@Woozi_Lover maybe thats because the Kid minds more mature and know when to be Childish and when not too... 🤔🤔

I've been rewatching this vid because it looks so fun and i never get bored also, Akko trying to compose herself infront of the camera and trying to keep her good angle is so cute!
I love how artistic and meticulous they are with the food. They really seem to appreciate it.
I'm self-isolated in Australia, with no Japanese food, dreaming of Japan and its crazy-good food. And amazing people.
Uber eats. Honestly not being a smart arse. Just learnt I could order sushi and beer.
Now my life as a recluse is complete.
THE EFFORT PUT IN BY EVERYONE IS SO WHOLESOME
That was a clever way to sneak Audible onto us. 🎧🥰💖
Gorgeous family gathering. I miss my Mum and her incredible Japanese cooking and her family dinner parties. Thank you for sharing with your video. Your sister-in-law is beautiful too. 💗🌟
I love the biking everywhere and she didn’t lock up her bike love the trust
0:20 man that handwriting is so pretty, I hope I can develop my Japanese handwriting like that eventually
In our family, a party never ends till there is atleast one familial argument while kids don't give a damn about what elders are arguing over because that's how our elders show their love to each other. Atleast that's what they say😂
I’m Japanese/ American Italian so I know both sides lol.
I love learning about other cultures. I love how the food brings them together. The food never ends like in Mexican culture. 🥺🥰
Your sister-in-law just got a new fan! I love her grace and energy. Hope she's doing well. Please bring her back in future videos!
Omg! I’m from Norway and I love Japanese culture ! This is so fun to watch, everyone coming together and making stuff together! ❤️ hope you had a great time ! Love your videos 💕
Her reaction at 12:20 cracks me up so much it's so cute 😂

A house party in California now involves a lot of skype.
Or zoom
Aw, I was waiting for Shin to do his 10 finger thing after he ate that takoyaki. I guess he’s grown out of it.
life is often dissapointing.
He did it at least once on the frozen treat video a few months ago.
Nope, he said he just forgot!
11:05 "...The food seemingly never ends..." Reminds me of my mother. Every time I visit, there's always too much food! XD
When she didn’t lock her bike up in a dense urban city I was like...😦😞 Damn I forgot not everywhere is a crime infested hellhole like American cities.
