    Been using Baxters Clay Pomade for a few weeks and it's the best hair styling product I've used so far!
    As for the smell, defo not a minty smell. More earthy type smell. It's strong at first but you end up getting used to it.

    For those coming across this video more recently, Baxter 100% changed their formula. I've been using the product for several years, and just like many others are noticing, it is now a product with much less hold and leaves a greasy finish. Not the same great product that it was.

    • @mattbertolino
      @mattbertolino 2 роки тому

      I've noticed too. I really don't like the greasy new finish, and its just not as firm. Do you have alternative that you're using that is more like the "old" Baxter's?

    • @RAAKMO
      @RAAKMO 2 роки тому

      @@mattbertolino Kevin Murphy's Rough Rider has been working well for me. The individual tub is more expensive, but it comes with more product. So it actually costs less per oz too.

      Thanks. It could be like "Top 3 strongest hold products of 2016". In your brand battle videos a lot of the criteria aren't really relevant to me. The main things I look for are hold, ease of application and ingredients (nothing hazardous).

    I find the Baxter clay a bit difficult to wash out. Also, the final style is not what I expected. Would like to try the Daimon clay, however, I do not see it in stores. I have been using two products lately that seem to work. One is a soft clay from a Japanese company called Magic Move. Great hold, and easy to wash out. The other product is a putty by Old Spice called Forge. Has a great hold, however, the smell is a bit overwhelming, so it should be used sparingly. In conjunction with these products, I have been using Aramis' hair thickener creme. This is an old standby I personally have been using for years (and many others as well rave about this product). Living in Manhattan, only a few stores carry this product, including Bloomingdale's in Soho.

    Robin, I personally tried Baxter clay. My hairs are thin to thinning. They need something that give them fullness and matte look. This "clay" actually make them shiny and oily and a bit "separated". Not for me. I'll give a try to American Crew Matte Clay... For now I get the best results with Tigi Bed Head Matte Separation Workable Wax. Thanks for your work mate.

    I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch of Baxter, but every time I apply it to my hair (using a small dime sized amount), I feel like it just becomes quite greasy as the day goes on and doesn't really hold very well. I'm fine with a medium hold, but I don't really want the greasy shine look, and for a matte clay I would not expect a shine. Maybe I just have naturally greasy hair lol, but I swear by the end of the day I look like I've worn a grease pomade in my hair (like the Reuzel pink tin). I switched back to Reuzel's Clay Matte, which doesn't always spread as evenly in my palm (especially as I get to the bottom of the tin and it's oxidated and hardened), but wears much better throughout the day and actually becomes more matte/textured the longer it's in my hair.

    Hi Robin, great video as always.. I'm really enjoying the brand battles.
    I kind of have a suggestion on a video topic. Could you give your thoughts on some of the styling products by Lush?
    Lush has amazing products, but the main audience is female, which in my opinion is quite a shame, since it's great for guys too. My suggestion would be to review some products like:
    - Mr. Dandy's Hair Candy
    - Hair Custard
    - Some shampoo and conditioners maybe? (Shampoo like Rehab)
    - Facewash (?)
    Love to hear your thoughts on the matter :)

    Are waxed based much harder to wash out as compared to water based?

      Hey - yes, they really can be. Wax-based products do not dissolve in water.

    Hanz de Fuko claymation vs layrite cement please😬

    • @ShadowJ20
      @ShadowJ20 8 років тому

      I've used both.
      Stronger hold - Claymation
      Application - Layrite
      Styling (what makes my hair look better) - Claymation
      If I had to pick one I'd go with Claymation. But if you got the money I'd take Morris Motley Styling Balm. Similar hold to Claymation but a lot easier to apply.

    Hey Robin! Could you recommend something (like a treatment or product, diet etc) specifically for blackheads? I know you have plenty of content for oily skin, but at the end of the day, if you have a lot of them, blackheads don't come out that smoothly, leaving scars and marks. Thanks in advance!

    Hey I kinda need an advice for what pomade to use for my hair. I got Asian type hair which is really thick, straight, and quite stubborn to manage, and also longish for a male, my front hair goes down to my Jaw and i usually try to go for a smooth back slicked rough look. Now my problem is that my hair type is also very dry, and most product that i try always end up drying and puffing up if i mess around with it which i don't like. So I need something that doesn't dry and puff up during the day, that's suitable for longer thick hair, that's kinda light and let's you mess around with it and restyle but at the same time gives some hold and shine. What would you recommend for me?
