As far as your hair goes based on this video I'd say creams should be your go to. The loose "flowy" styles work well with you. As for me, I'm a paste and sometimes clay kind of guy for casual days. Lately though I've been loving Crystal Lake from Shear Revival.

It holds all of the stray hairs in place without feeling heaviness. Plus, it’s really easy to use thanks to the wand/brush. Additionally, it held my hair in place for the majority of the day!
I think gel is something all guys have no idea how to use properly... If you have gel on ur hair and it is hard and rigid, you are using it wrongly. There is an extra step u need to do, that is to ruff up ur hair after it has dried and set. You will realize ur hair becomes soft and malleable again but the shape is still there, it should feel the same as if u applied soft clay or wax.
What is ruff up? If I may ask. I've bern told I can't use greasy products no more and I don't want gel due to it's results...but this sounds encouraging
@@KCDeportes basically break up the rigid clumps of hair which is being held up strong by the gel. It will take multiple attempts to get it right, the first time I did it just became messy. Great video Robin. Pomades are my go to, but nowadays there's so much versatility within the pomade world that the lines have been blurred. We have traditional oil based (Murrays, Lockharts), traditional water based (Suavecito), unorthodox water based (flagship, grim grease, nostalgic grooming s/wb), but it's a huge reason why I love it. I got my hair cut recently and I'm rocking a shorter more textured look and have been using waxes and clays or a cream pomade like Gray Ghost by Shear Revival. Excellent stuff.
Hi, what pomade do you recommend I should buy? I’m looking to give me a wet look and to restyle my hair throughout the day. Currently growing my hair and use jojoba oil twice a week. Thanks. I’m looking for a water based pomade btw.
I use cream. My hair is curly Type 2 ( wavy). My favorite cream is for wavy and curly hair called Hobby. I just bought another cream called Fonex with pro vitamin B5. I live in Turkey and they have some products for curly hair here. I found these are pretty good for my hair. I like using cream now whereas when my hair was shorter I used pomade. Now that I am growing my hair a little longer the cream is better.
Great video, there are so many hair products for sale, these 'back to basics' like videos really help to show what the differences are. 🍚🍙💷 I use water-based ; pomades, clays, creams, then I use either my fine or wide tooth comb to do a side part, then I use hairspray, because I'm someone who doesn't like to keep touching or looking at how my hair is throughout the day, so I use it to make sure it is in the same position as how I left it in. 🚿
hey man i just found your channel and thank you for the content, basic gel has always been my go to and then ive tried the wax and pomade recently but i had no idea what i was doing, the videos help a lot
You just got a new subscriber! Quick question: for guys who live in a highly humid area, which hairstyle product do you recommend? Some days my hair starts to curl and go wavy. I read that you should keep your hair just a bit wet before applying pomade. I do but just very little. Is that part of the problem?
Last on my list of things to try is cream. I'm hoping this is the one. I'm super dumb with hair, it's really not my forte. I have similar hair to Robin. Gel was a no-go as it left my hair solid and too "wet" looking. Clay seemed to be too dry on my hair, and it is a bit hard to get out(at least the one I tried). Pomade was very much like gel, and like Robin said, it isn't good for every day. It seemed to make my hair look oily but dry when washed out. Praying for cream to be the miracle I need! 🙏 Really appreciate your videos, they are huge for clueless folks like me!
