For those watching and feeling hopeless. I was hyperstimulated for more than 6 months straight. I had to be admitted to a psych ward because I was not sleeping for days at a time due to anxiety and adrenaline. I started slowly getting better and now about a year later I am feeling 90% back to normal.

This is a really good comment. Especially for people in the thick of it or at the beginning of it. It does get better and your hyperstimulation will subside thereby bringing symptoms down with it. It keeps you in a hyperstimulated state by stressing and worrying about how you feel (which of course is normal at the beginning). Once you accept that it is stress hormones keeping you in a heightened state you can then work on allowing it to be present as you go about your day and shift your focus from how you feel to more meaningful things. Which in turn brings about less stress responses and slowly out of a hyperstimulated state. Time is definitely a big factor in healing as well as understanding that your body can and will fix itself. As long as you move out of the way

@@germanshepherdtalk3356 I was given medication for about 2 months, zopiclone (zdrug) and antihistamine which helped me sleep a few hours a night, then slowly started sleeping on my own, and nowadays i have "normal" sleep of about 8 hours a night, with occasional insomnia. I think the biggest part of it was realizing all my symptoms was stress and anxiety, and not something fatal, only then could i start to recover and relax.

Jim, I became hyper stimulated in April 2021 after a very stressful time and an emergency surgery. I found you guys 6 months later and started recovery and working with one of your therapists. It took
until March 2023 to be able to feel recovered and a few more months to say it to other people. Thank you so much. Stress does still affect me but I know what to do to keep
From hyper stimulation. My membership lapsed exactly on my birthday back in July. I need to renew just to be able to finally attend a Skype session to give thanks and share a little of my story. Now I have discovered, after a long month of pain and symptoms, I have a mono infection. It has been about 5 weeks, maybe more. Now I have fatigue, minor eye pain, aches and pains... the worst is the fatigue. I thought it was all caused by anxiety and it may have been indirectly so. However, the infection needs to clear before I can feel better and this may take weeks or months, even. I have been ill for so long, I hope that God will allow me to be healthy again one day. If he does, I will do my best to use it for him. God bless everyone here.

I’ve had chronic anxiety for over 15 months and symptomatic every single day. I’ve had muscle tension and spasms in my right side and chest, IBS, nausea and ear problems the list is endless. I’ve convinced myself I’ve got cancer to the point I nearly give up on my life. I wouldn’t focus on anything apart from the pain and symptoms and googling all my worries. It’s only the last few days that I found this channel through the website I’ve started to read and understand exactly what chronic anxiety is and never realise the damage I was doing to myself and my body. I’ve had talking therapy and it’s never helped, also have adhd too so that’s hyper focusing on stuff. Health anxiety is debilitating and horrible to live with. Thank you for your video xx

Hi Jim. I’ve had a battle with what I believe is hyperstimulation anxiety my whole adult life. One of the things I say about a couple symptoms that I have 24 seven that don’t go away is that I believe my anxiety is being caused by those symptoms. But I know it has to be the opposite. There has to be an anxiety underneath that’s initially causing all these symptoms and stuff. Sometimes I’m still convinced that the doctors haven’t seen something or they’re missing something or I have some rare issue that they’re not catching onto. I have to trust the doctors so that’s what I’m doing. But it is hard to not have the thought of these are really, what’s causing my anxiety if I didn’t have all these symptoms and physical feelings wouldn’t be anxious. I didn’t really have a question. I just wanted to throw this comment in. I’m gonna keep trying my best to just deal with the symptoms and stick with therapy and doing whatever I can to create relaxation and deal with my stress in a healthy way. I’m gonna listen to what you said which is to have patience and if you stick with everything eventually your body will pay off and start getting better.

@@gimpyjwilliams I relate to everything you’re saying in this comment. The anxiety hyper stimulation that I have is caused by worrying I’ve something wrong with me. Because I fear this it makes the symptoms worse and align with everything I’m googling that something isn’t right. It’s a vicious circle. I’ve stopped googling now which has lessened the worry. I never knew that anxiety would cause so many symptoms. One thing that is helping me and I mean a lot, is Jesus. Listen to a song by a lady called Leanna Crawford still waters. I play this every single day 🙏❤️

Been following the recover strategies doing well until a recent argument which triggered a another bad spike just lingering around and causing stress. Going back down the rabbit hole. Was on citalopram for a good 20+ years after being diagnosed with GAD. In my 50s now, a few years after two heart attacks, a bout with cancer, quit all the bad habits, lost weight, etc, I thought myself to be on the mend. Trying to get my life back in order and this anxiety panic thing rears it's ugly head again. To the point it's destroying my life. Starting back on the anti-depressants beginning tomorrow. It's non-stop, and out of nowhere the second I try to get back into the work field. It's downright debilitating. My better half is sick to death of this and I don't blame her. All the relaxing techniques do nothing for me. The mind is non-stop racing. Insomnia, blood pressure through the roof, the works. Things need to level out, and fast. I apologize for the rant, but I definitely need the help.

I've always dealt with chronic anxiety. I thought this hollow-like feeling in my stomach 24/7 was a normal thing. But during the last year, every time i do some exercise, a couple of hours later I start feeling twitching, burning sensation, pins and needles on extremities (specially the ones I used during the exercise), dry-eyes, tingling in mouth, lightheadedness, etc.
All neurological and blood tests are OK. Someone mentioned it could be chronic stress, but the symptoms come after doing some exercise, even a mild walk. A year ago I could run 10k easily.
I would appreciate to read your opinions.

I know I have been in a hyperstimulated state for many years from fight, flight and freeze response to severe childhood trauma. How to heal from hyperstimulation when it is stressful and anxiety producing to work through trauma?

    • @anxietycentre

Pacing yourself as you work through trauma, regular deep relaxation, ensuring you get good sleep, eating a healthy diet, avoiding stimulants, and taking frequent mind/rest breaks can help keep that stress to a minimum. Your therapist could have other ways, too.

Nonetheless, i wanted to share my progress so far. Its now been 3 months, soon 4. Things have calmed down quite well, i still have heart palpitations, high blood pressure and some other symptoms that i can't pinpoint right now. They are not 24/7 anymore, now they come and go between couple weeks, and would last a week or more, if im lucky its just few days. I remember saying in my comment, that i won't be able t osurvive, or i don't want to survive, but now that things aren't so bad as they used to be..i've gained small amount of hope, that i can get back to myself. Oh wow, Jim. I’m glad I came across this. I’ve been working very hard on mine to see if it’s anxiety even though I don’t feel anxious. Some days the distortions are worse than others still but Do you think the sound quality/clarity issue will go away for me? It makes me feel like something is seriously wrong bc it hasn’t but watching this video you made sounds a lot like me-> Especially the little bit better part but still have other symptoms. It’s still hard to watch movies and listen to music bc it doesn’t sound right- it’s still sounding bootlegged. Especially UA-cam. The weird hissing and muffled sound is still there in my right ear also but the hyperacusis (loudness) seems to be getting better little By little to me? So now it’s still just the sound clarity, distortion to certain frequencies, and the hissing and muddled down sound in my right ear compared to the left ear.

This sadly for me was not motivating. I have been going through this for almost eight months. My life has been turned upside down and I can no longer do any of the things I loved like my daily zumba, gardening, baking, I have no interest in anything and the fatigue just adds to my depression. I keep thinking it will end soon, now you are telling me years! That has thrown me back months in my anxiety as I could not stand going through this for another year. And yes - seeing a psychologist and a psychiatrist for the meds.

    • @anxietycentre

I know it can be tough dealing with the reality of hyperstimulation. However, it's better to have a realistic expectation than struggle for years and not know why or what to do. I did that for 12 years. I would have rather known how to overcome it than think it would somehow subside on its own. Knowing what to do and being patient can make the difference between recovery and a long-term struggle.

For these past months ive been doing rather good, the earlier comment was because i was scared that i lost my progress, turns out it was because i didn't sleep much for two days, which activated it. Sometimes i do have heart palps, but other than that ive been fine..I can sleep, for quite long too from time to time. I got back to energy drinks, because i thought i was fine, but now i am questioning myself. It's been rather 6 months from the event and since my hyperstimulation started.. yet i still don't feel like my old self, i still get these same feelings that i got back then, i am still sometimes scared of sleeping, i am still sometimes scared if i ever be myself. I've been having chronic stress for most of my marriage but the last year has been nearly unbearable with anxiety, palpitations, sleep disorders, etc. I've tried medications but unable to tolerate side effects. When I go to the dr the anxiety drives the BP up and even the meds for that seem to increase anxiety. I am trying natural things like Olive oil, cinnamon and vitamins without alot of relief. I have developed mild social anxiety as well. I see a great counselor and just started EMDR this week. Hope that method is safe as I'm at the end of my rope.

Jim what can I do to stop or help tbe despair and depression that goes with these symptoms... I'm trying so hard... Getting harder to find joy..I put a stake in too.. My. Core fear that I will never recover. Like you I've been this way for a long time.almost all my life..the 24/7 dizziness and visual are the symptoms that are knocking me for a loop.. 😢

Have you had your dizziness checked out? It could very well be PPPD, which is associated with anxiety, I had this for a couple years, every day, and finally spoke to my eye doctor and my GP. I went to PT for PPPD for about 3 montHs. It’s mostly gone now, rarely have a bad day. The PT says she sees it a lot. The biggest factor helping me was knowing what was happening!

Jim is there something as anxiety flare my symptoms are back but i start drinking lots of coffee ....

    • @anxietycentre
      @anxietycentre  Рік тому

Caffeinated coffee brings about its stimulating effect by secreting stress hormones, which stresses the body. That stress can increase feelings of anxiousness. That's why we recommend avoiding caffeine when in recovery.

After the hardest year of my life i thought I was going insane with this static in my head that made me feel like the hair in my ears were screaming all the time. But after my ear infection it didn't subside and ... the noise was hyperstimulation symptoms.. all I want is the noise to go away thank you for putting it in perspective of my neurons needing to heal and how long that would take.
Anyone else dealing with this in the world right now I wish you luck. The noise I hear is so loud and relentless and in its way feels like a new hell I don't wish on myworst enemy.
