When I lived in Japan, me and my friends went to Odaiba, which has a big indoor place that places a lot of games like baseball, snooker, futsal, basketball etc. The games there also divided into kids and adults, also got food court. Everything is under one roof. I wonder why no one wants to call investor from Japan to open a place like that here, instead of opening a new mall.
i agree because i noticed that many different games are seperated in different malls, if only they could put all of those games under 1 roof it would be good At sunway pyramid, there is bowling alley, archery and VR games in same floor
People nowadays don't go to malls to shop. They go jalan-jalan cuci mata, enjoy the aircond, tengok movie, makan, then balik rumah beli barang kat Shopee.
This is not true. The golden rule when it comes to malls in Msia is to either be a general purpose megamall (Suria KLCC, Pavilion, 1U, MV, Pyramid, Velocity), or a niche medium-sized mall (Lowyat, Digital Mall, Publika, Jaya One, Lot 10). Second rule is that there must be mid-level branded retails and not uncle/auntie shops like what you find in Berjaya Times Square and Sungei Wang. Malls that don't fulfill both criteria end up dying (Jaya Shopping Mall, 3 Damansara, Atria, Summit, SS2 Mall, Fahrenheit88). LalaPort, as some have said, has an identity crisis, neither the former or the latter, so it may end up as a dying mall.
Instead of building Lalaport, the authorities should preserve Pudu Jail, upgrade it to accommodate more beds, and expand it into a three-story facility equipped with air conditioning and top-notch amenities. Many people, especially politicians and authorities, will eventually need to check in.

The best thing about this mall is that, despite being a high-end establishment, parking is free for customers who spend just RM1 at any of the establishments there. This is not available somewhere else! This mall's location, layout, and accessibility are further reasons why I enjoy it. There are also a lot of fascinating stores to check out and shop at. Not to mention that you should anticipate seeing some Japanese culture on exhibit because the mall is owned by Japanese company.
Not a failure. Just need more direct pedestrian connections from Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Pudu to cross the wide Jalan Hang Tuah & Jalan Imbi. Underground link is needed to connect these main roads.
Exactly. I have just been there and the area is not walkable. You can die under the rushing cars or make unnecessary kilometres to cross the street on a poorly made pedestrian bridge
Even though Lalaport is a Nihon concept mall but I didn't see many Nippon stuff in it. My home got tons of things from Japan such as mangas, mags, animes, omochas, CDs, DVDs & etcs. They should bring in J-pop idol stores such as AKB48 merchandise concept shop, Japanese toy specialty collector store, scale model kit factory based shop such as Tamiya or Hasegawa, audio/video shop specialized in Japanese music/movie/series hard to find in Malaysia & many more etcs. I noticed they have mostly general stores & some not even Japan related, they're selling American/China/Korean brand products. I'm an Otaku & have been influenced by Nihonjins since my childhood. Even when I was a baby, my late Mom used to feed me with Morinaga brand milk powder, played with Kawada building toys & wears Casio watches till today. Japan is actually part of my daily life, you people don't know what's the true meaning of The Land Of The Rising Sun. Watashi wa Nihon ga daisukidesu! 😻😍👍
i like lalaport tbh. i think it is top 3 mall in KL. the real atas feeling i never gotten walking at pav/mv/IU. the closest is trx, which i still think lalaport is the best imo. i hope lalaport can bring in more overseas stuff for ppl to explore. old mall like 1u/mv/pav will never going to do that.
@@asyraf2057 these are issues with Selangor & Klang valley, which are super excited building all infrastructures BUT forgot to put basic amenities in places first like new school, Police station , Hospital & Fire station. These should be put in priorities first with rising of populations in specific area.
Key thing is this mall doesn’t have anchor tenant and it has identity crisis. It cannot decides if it wants to upscale mall or run of the mill mall it cannot decides. The tenants mix is average so why ppl want to come all the way to this inconvenient location. Not to mention is fairly isolated.
problem with that mall is too many established and much better location malls nearby like pavillion and recently now TRX, its initial opening also was a bad time with lack of tenants etc, no reason to go to lalaport cause it provides nothing those other malls provide as well but much better accessibility and other shops nearby
All excuses for it's failure - just poor management and a lack of willingness to spend money for promotions. It also don't look friendly at all, from the outside.
I dont like that they destroyed Pudu Jail for this mall. I love historical buildings so it was sad to see Pudu Jail gone from existence. There's too many malls in the area of KL, we have Lalaport, Pavillion, Bukit Bintang, Lot 10, Time Square, Sungai Wang to name a few. All of those malls are fighting each other to get a slither of customers coming in.
For real, we could have repurposed Pudu Jail as a historical site similar to Alcatraz but nooo had to make another freaking mall when there's so many already in KL and worst another mall coming in the future with Merdeka 118.... Malaysia why
Totally agree. Pudu Jail can be a tourist attraction. They only need to tidy up the place, put a lot of information boards, and boom, RM5 per head per entry. But sadly, they decided to make another mall. I believe newer mall cannot survive anymore in the area unless ah, they are really2 distinct and have strond branding.
I wish Lalaport can be the Genting Premium Outlets equivalent…a place where we can buy off season fashion goods for huge discounts. Singapore has IMM Jurong and Changi City Point, the latter where i got Nike shoes for $12 per pair! Why cant we get such thing in the middle of KL?
If Lalaport have massive indoor games or parks I think it would be better. Since it's location is at the middle of the city, it would be great to have some sweat while enjoying it indoor. With some shops/retails to add on, it would be great. We're lacking mall that focusing on that unfortunately. Lalaport is just like other modern concept mall.
Too many malls at same locations means hard to compete. Also, the shops there are mostly high end and expensive brands which means they are targeting tourist more than locals, but I feel location is fantastic as it connected by LRT Hang Tuah with a connecting bridge make it the perfect place in the center of Kuala Lumpur.
Pavilion Damansara Heights also did not receive many visitors, not to mention Damansara City Mall (DC Mall) or Tropicana Gardens Mall or even the legendary Sg Wang Plaza. These malls are not built on former prison sites. True there are many other malls getting a lackluster response in KL, but they are not as bad as depicted. Ironically, many of yous complaining about the increase in the number of malls while you howl when Ampang Park is demolished.
The management might have to engage Bomoh from all races to spiritually cleanse the place thoroughly. It does feel uneasy even though it is a new concept. What a waste for such a prime location and huge investment being made for this mall.
And year 2025 around 1km from Lalaport, 118 mall is opening with its biggest attraction - 118 Tower the 2nd tallest building in the world These 118 tower + mall will severely impact Lalaport btw tourists would rather patronise the old Chinatown (nearer to 118) than the modern Lalaport right
cannot compete as luxury mall nor as budget mall, but Lalaport certainly have a chance in between, also an event space for various activity like cosplay, comic con... if the management do it right.
Born and bred in KL. Jalan Ampang thoroughbred here. IMHO, we don’t need more malls in city centre. They all house the same shops, same brands and makan also mostly the same. Build other infras like recreational parks (like 5km loop of Taman Tugu is awesome! And Bukit Nanas also is enjoyable), skate parks (as seen at Ampang Park) and libraries better. If can make space for cultures and crafts also nice where one can learn to craft (weaving, pottery, wood working etc.)
Look at Siam paragon area has art library & gallery, national stadium, BTS & Metro stations, hotels/hostels, night Market...etc closest to each others in Bangkok. Our art gallery ( jln Tun Razak) and libraries Jln Tun Razak & Dataran Pahlawan) quite far.
Lalaport is one of my favorite places to get my groceries. It’s very convenient for commuters like us who depend on LRT transport to travel. It’s centrally located between the Hang Tuah station and the monorail, making it a strategically good place for quick shopping. In the past, I avoided going there because it used to be Pudu Jail, and there were rumors of it being haunted. However, one day I decided to take a look, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a grocery store there. The place felt very peaceful, and since then, I’ve always bought my vegetables and other groceries here. It’s really convenient, and I don’t feel any ghostly presence like some Malay UA-camrs have said. I think the lights here have dispelled any such spirits. It's good that Pudu Jail has been demolished. While it was part of history, having a jail in the city center creates bad energy and sadness, which is why many people didn’t like going there. Lalaport has changed everything; the overall environment has become much better. There are often events like kids’ dance performances, singing ..etc were held on weekends, which attract crowds. I hope people will come to see this place as a mega mall where all kinds of items are available. It’s even better than Pavilion, which can be too crowded, especially outside. The atmosphere there isn’t as pleasant. The decorations here are also very nice during Malaysian celebrations, and I admire their unique design.
Dont think it's because of its HIStory. It's just a bit distant from the central area of Sg Wang-Lot 10 etc, separated by a main road. Not very strategic.
Pudu Jail was a place for death sentence of hundreds of communist terrorists during the emergency periods (Malaya/Malaysia does not declared war against them, therefore they were treated as criminals and liable for trial and facing sentence). The most famous criminal (not a communist but a gangster and a murderer) hanged to death here is Wong Swee Chin aka Botak Chin (meaning Jobless Chinese in Hokkien, not a bald person as the meaning in Malay) on 11th June 1981.
KL is a dreadful. Horrible place to go to. Being a local, KL is rubbish a place I avoid. Go into a the malls but spending 4 hours for return journey for a 20-30km journey is madness. . Terrible traffic, city planning very bad. Floods, and high crime . Surely most Tourists regret coming to Malaysia. Conned by our tourism posters.
There is always hope. Citta mall and waterfront desa parkcity wasn't very popular also, but refocusing on f&b managed to revive both malls and make them popular
I namely go there for Jaya Grocer. The eating options are a bit pricey compared to non-mall or other places in Sungei Wang / Pudu etc... They do seem to have alot of events on the roof and center court activities though...
They should rebrand it as spooky themed mall.. Especially during Halloween season. Should also invite local & International paranormal influencer to promote. 👻
The top comment on this video is so true… last time when u went to 1U or something you’d see everyone walking with shopping bags and carts but now you see it a lot less if u pay attention

Tempat maksiat Dan rasuah.kita tunggu dan lihat apa malapetaka yg akan menimpa KL satu hari nanti
I actually hope Lalaport will pick up because EPF invested and is part of the BBCC joint venture (with UDA Holdings Bhd and Eco World)... I don't hang out at Lalaport often but I actually enjoy walking around there. The main attraction for me there is Zepp KL. Been there twice for concerts and it is my favourite concert venue because I enjoy smaller and more intimate concerts, and Zepp KL is just perfect for that.
If times square already suffered from low traffic and dying mall, wat more for lalaport? Even though the malls r linked its still located to the edge of bkt bintang. For normal pedestrian, its considered far from thr having to cross a main road. Public transport dun help much since sg wang has its own monorail station. Locals with family usually drive, and the one way traffic of bkt bintang makes it difficult to come here when thrs other more convenient malls. Times square manages to get by bcoz of strong backing. Not sure bout lalaport. It has a condo thr that attracts expats
Done Sub Bro. Your video remind me of all the memory of going to mall when young and now with family, i seldom come to the mall coz to save cos and xda Tujuan untuk jalan di Mall besar. Maybe some doesn't know, but Lalaport mall almost weekend really hectic especially at the rooftop..as there always event being held, like last hectic event is Lalaport Bon Odori last July & ACG Matsuri last August..while just beside the mall is Zepp KL, which many mini live concert being held, local and International artist so many people will be crowd the mall..
traffic could be an issue for this mall. Must enter from Jalan Pudu which is always jammed or via Jalan Hang Tuah then make U turn at Jalan Imbi cross junction, another black spot for traffic jam
Like Japan, a giant gundam should be installed, so that people can buy something and check in, and the business will improve. Otherwise, it is no different from other malls, not to mention that the location of your mall is not good and it is very inconvenient. (personal opinion)
I love the architectural design. And the corridors are all wide. However, the sense of orientation is sorely missing. You just have no idea where you are, where is the main entrance and what direction you are heading too. Taking the escalators will add more confusion. That's why Gardens on the Mall, Mid Valley, and the smaller malls are much liked. It's so easy to navigate. But I wish it all the success. It's always sad to see a mall close.
Building malls after malls is just like countries trying to compete with each other with the tallest buildings, the longest bridges, the biggest parks. It's a never-ending pursuit. I would rather see funds being used to restore old buildings that can be turned into eateries or other establishments that can benefit the local and international tourism industry.
Malls are falling every where in the world. Online shopping is taking their places. Large malls in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen Chongqing are becoming ghost malls. Time and demands have changed.
Years ago there were many news reports that KL has too many malls..... Can the new malls offer something really different? This mall looks more Atas but not that different from other established malls.
The number of shopping malls is okay, but they have to serve a different purpose or different customer areas. I dont think they can pull the traffic away from the pavillion mall
5 minute away from my house.......managed to enter Pudu Jail when it was being demolished...... Actually I like Lalaport because I can lepak......many chairs are available!!!
I pray dis gorgeous beautifully designed n top notch workmanship mall won’t see its slow death…by right it shouldn’t be as it’s well connected by monorail n LRT lines such convenience should be d main drawing point for bigger shoppers! Retail shops are more or less dead nowadays hence malls thrive on their bustling F&B scenes n innovative entertainment outlets. I love this mall!
Take a leaf from kampung baru, Jalan Alor and Brickfields and merge the cultural environment and cuisine into an open food court on the food street, open stages for Malaysian cultural / music troupes/ bands, minus the filth and heat. That should spice it up. Imagine Kampung Baru in the sky on the top floor.
It will need time to populate lalaport. Right now it still feels empty. Huge space of ground to walk and sometimes without direction. The huge bookstore downstairs is quite fun to visit
I have been living in the klang valley almost all my life. I just dont care about malls anymore n havent been to many famous malls in KL. I also dont go into KL bevause it is just draining.
So far its my fav place. The food court is huge (i wish they got like lotus food court food choice) got cinemas, and below the cinemas also got another food court. Great rooftop view, got grocer, gacha and the best part is doing assignment at the rooftop foodcourt
There are just too many malls in Malaysia, the current TRX exchange and upcoming PNB 118 mall are enough to fold them out already, Mitsui, the management had missed the checkbox by just cloning Lalaport BBCC as another mall, be frank, when you compare the overseas Lalaport and our Lalaport you will sense a huge difference, there's no nice gigantic Gundam statue nor themed concept in the mall, they are lack of a good unique selling points for the shoppers and the vendors to come in as almost everything that is in Lalaport BBCC can be found elsewhere except Oxwhite ( and that's the only reason I go there! ), they have to learn how to distinguish themselves from the current malls if they are thinking of making it, don't clone, create something new! The best example that I strongly suggest them to study from is the latest mall in Bangkok Emsphere, you are like walking into an art gallery instead of a mall That truly elevate the shopping experience, if and only EcoWorld and Mitsui can hear this, otherwise, this mall has too slim chances to even survive when PNB 118 open their door for business next year.
I think they will have a chance of success once they found their niche in the Bukit Bintang area. Recently they are more inclining towards Japanese Anime/Idol stuff there as Lalaport is the main venue where KLP48 will perform. There's also the 1st Animate store in Malaysia opening there soon and stuff like anime cafes. That could be a way for them to differentiate from nearby malls if they went all in on those aspect. Personally I think it would be funny if Lalaport somehow managed to build a Gundam Statue like the ones in Japan and Shanghai though
Heard that its due to different rental Process requirements and deposits that use japanese way. Starting with that, retailers talk among themselves and the mall had abit hard time attracting good names...up till now it has been a vicious cycle in guess.. but yeah..nice cool modern mall + toilet bidet n seat so nice 😆
I love to visit malls to scout for my favorite toyz since my childhood days. My late parents used to bring me to malls during weekends for leisure fun time. I still love to see physical stuff in stores rather than shop online. Early this year just took a stroll @ Lalaport, it felt very eerie inside. It was pretty hot sunny day & the moment I entered, it felt sudden coldness engulfing me. People say it's haunted due to the history of the hotspot. Even though it's just opened about 2 years only, I witnessed there're many vacant shoplots inside with less crowds even on weekends. It's definitely a big failure compared to its neighbors such as Times Square, Pavilion KL & Low Yat (used to work here from 2004 - 2015). It took me less than 1 hour to scope the entire mall & nothing much interesting just like walking in a cemetary park. Hopefully Zepp Hall & KLP48 can bring in more crowds to it with more live music performances. Nihonjins have taken a big gamble to invest on a bad feng shui land. GANBARIMASU!!! 😎
I like the design of the mall, how they have consecutive events and concerts in the mall area. But sadly it seems like inside the mall is pretty quiet. Hope they will do something about it or come out a new theme for the mall to attract audience.
1 thing. Connection. Give a great pedestrian connections to this stylish mall. Merge the entrance with the entire bukit bintang walking streets since they are BBCC 'the city centre of bukit bintang' Must have new direct connection right into this mall from imbi monorail and hang tuah monorail like those walking bridge connecting klcc to pavilion. Aso tunnel connection from Merdeka MRT. Spread the lot 10-pavilion crowds into here thru BTSquare. 2nd is big screens. Light up this corner with big screens everywhere to attracts the crowds. Or even to a new BB cheap streetfoods scenes to a desperated level.
it would be great if anime, manga, cosplay, maid cafes, community workplace or other related store can be all in one in this mall, then major all the cosplays, games, tournament, interior and art and other exhibitions here probably could make differences from other malls. It can also be music, business events, and wedding events because of the calm concepts other than matsuri at the top floor.
All shopping mall must embrace e-gaming...lacking of proper arcade.. initial d, SF, kof, etc.. Must have many arcade games.. Instead.of charge per machine..make it by time. 1 hour RM 15.. Also sport facilities...badminton, snooker, pool, indoor rock climbing.. Hobby center/space.. card games, mini 4wd /RC Have space for events... Have space where ppl can open do flea market, self hand.made staff..
Please rename your bloody title. The mall doesn't cost RM 8.7 billion. Just Lalaport alone is RM 1.6 billion. RM 8.7 billion is the entire BBCC project.

Was very familiar with every part of KL , from Kepong to Cheras , from Ampang to Gombak , Sentul to Bukit Bintang from 1970 to 2007 during the construction boom.Know every shopping complex then , including all those in P.Jaya to Subang. Can reach anywhere and any malls \shopping complexes without WAZE ( Waze didn't exist then ) I think we have too many malls in the Klang Valley , and I haven't been to any mall that opened in the last 15 years. And I don't even know some location of these "new" malls. There are hundred of thousands who probably don't know more malls\shopping complexes than me , so how would there be enough crowds to fill these places.
We visit Malaysia regularly. I like the different Malls - Pavillion, Suria, Time Sq. and am looking forward to view TRX in December. We would visit Lalaport especially for the cafe/bar/restaurant area - which looks good in the evening. Perhaps there are just too many malls in Bukit Bintang?
Nowadays most of the malls in KL & PJ they're more or less the same punya, we always see Daiso, Mr DIY, McD, KFC, Starbucks, Coffee Bean, 7-Eleven, Family Mart & blah, blah, blah ... 😝. The only place I love to visit is Kinokuniya @ Suria KLCC because they import Nihon stuff directly from Nippon not via local suppliers like other stores, that's the reason why they've an exclusive Japanese book section where all their books, mags, mangas & collectibles not available elsewhere. All the stuff here're Made In Japan! Even Isetan department store relies on local suppliers only for Japanese products. Now I should say, Kinokuniya is a true Nihonjin concept bookstore. Sugoidesu ne! 😲
Yes, major malls have the same duplicate retailers.. Actually the small dying malls you will see the lower end moms/pops retailers, many many malls dweller don't like those
parked here at lalaport when it was free parking for a whole year, never bought anything, just parked and took monorail to office in Bukit Bintang. Ever since they scrapped the free parking, no longer step foot here. Thanks for your video showing the status of the mall.
In my opinion lalaport maybe will be alive when pnb 118 open or the new condo wing of times square being completed, the biggest mistake they didnt do is the connect it directly inside berjaya times square, maybe it will gain alot of customer, or simply say spill over crowd from malls like lot 10, sg wang and low yat, but yea because of the condo construction theres not yet a direct connection for now. Also the location is quite isolated too, once you missed the road u definitely rather go to BB area, Mid valley, Sunway velocity as its going be difficult to enter the place. Maybe the rather rely on spill over crowds instead like lot 10 for example, its crowded because ppl go there to park car to go pavilion or TRX to avoid paying more than rm 15. Maybe they can use their car park strategy for 118 mall then maybe footfall will increase.
Location problem,Pavillion, lot 10, sungai wang, lowyat they all stick together, you can find most of the brand ppl want to buy, most ppl spent a day around there already enough, they don't want to go Lalaport even just a monorail station away. they need to do more bazaar and activities to attract specific interest ppl to go there. and also some unique store that can't be find in other bukit bintang mall. the mall have potential.
I don't think it is the bad feng shui alone. Majority of malls in Klang valley are facing decline due to massive rise in online shopping and too many malls offering the same products and services.
What made it a failure i believe is the exterior design. The part that faces jalan pudu is just a wall. It should be opened up with double glass unit for high end brands like pavilion bb with wide walk way and green. All the nice design are hidden inside between buildings.
Instead opening a mall in Malaysia, Japan should consider open a big indoor park with a lot of games. Malaysia has too many malls already.
110% agree.

I do agree.. IF they bring more Japanese retailers to fill up lalaport, that would make this mall the most unique ones in Malaysia
It’s a quiet mall .love the environment
same, its a nice mall actually.. sunday evening its very quiet and peaceful
Unfortunately quiet mall cannot last long financially
Yes quite mall...but not good for business
I been to Lalaport many time to me ok, it's very beautiful mall. ❤
It really is!
i like lalaport tbh. i think it is top 3 mall in KL. the real atas feeling i never gotten walking at pav/mv/IU. the closest is trx, which i still think lalaport is the best imo. i hope lalaport can bring in more overseas stuff for ppl to explore. old mall like 1u/mv/pav will never going to do that.
Inside layout is too claustrophobic and looks cheap. Outer part is fine. They need to organize events to attract crowd
Stop building malls in KL,already too many.
yes.. built a big mosque for pray..
@@mohdnazrin7150build more sekolah. Tak muat dah boss
Not to mention is fairly isolated.
accessible by LRT and monorail, where got inconvenience la
Chill lah. The big 3 (MV, 1U, pyramid) is also a mixed bag of rojak. What’s your problem?
@@danowong nothing wrong with big 3, those are heartland suburban malls. Malls at typical Taman Taman area
problem with that mall is too many established and much better location malls nearby like pavillion and recently now TRX, its initial opening also was a bad time with lack of tenants etc, no reason to go to lalaport cause it provides nothing those other malls provide as well but much better accessibility and other shops nearby
All excuses for it's failure - just poor management and a lack of willingness to spend money for promotions. It also don't look friendly at all, from the outside.
I’m now at Lalaport watching this video
Thanks for watching
I dont like that they destroyed Pudu Jail for this mall. I love historical buildings so it was sad to see Pudu Jail gone from existence.
There's too many malls in the area of KL, we have Lalaport, Pavillion, Bukit Bintang, Lot 10, Time Square, Sungai Wang to name a few. All of those malls are fighting each other to get a slither of customers coming in.
Big mistake to demolish such an iconic landmark. Karma's a bitch
For real, we could have repurposed Pudu Jail as a historical site similar to Alcatraz but nooo had to make another freaking mall when there's so many already in KL and worst another mall coming in the future with Merdeka 118.... Malaysia why
Shopping mall business is highly highly competitive in KL.
Yeap. 😢 it’s a piece of our history these idiots destroy for the 1000th mall in klang valley. Idiotic kl governance.
This mall is nice, it deserves a chance.
I like this mall actually, design wise and concept is spot on for me
Too many malls at same locations means hard to compete.
What a waste for such a prime location and huge investment being made for this mall.
and its a beautiful mall too. beautiful a word that i hardly use to describe a mall
khurafat bomoh2 ni.
And year 2025 around 1km from Lalaport, 118 mall is opening with its biggest attraction - 118 Tower the 2nd tallest building in the world
These 118 tower + mall will severely impact Lalaport btw tourists would rather patronise the old Chinatown (nearer to 118) than the modern Lalaport right
cannot compete as luxury mall nor as budget mall, but Lalaport certainly have a chance in between, also an event space for various activity like cosplay, comic con... if the management do it right.
Our art gallery ( jln Tun Razak) and libraries Jln Tun Razak & Dataran Pahlawan) quite far.
should just have built a park, that area so congested already
Too many shopping malls already. Should maintain the original building and make it as prison museum which is better.
Just like Hoa Lo Prison in Hanoi
It's near to Jln Alor which need Hotels not shopping-malls as Bukit-bintang itself is an "outdoor shopping-center" already!
Pudu Jail was a place for death sentence of hundreds of communist terrorists during the emergency periods (Malaya/Malaysia does not declared war against them, therefore they were treated as criminals and liable for trial and facing sentence). The most famous criminal (not a communist but a gangster and a murderer) hanged to death here is Wong Swee Chin aka Botak Chin (meaning Jobless Chinese in Hokkien, not a bald person as the meaning in Malay) on 11th June 1981.
damn, ingat ke botak sebab nama panggilan dia botak
KL is a dreadful. Horrible place to go to. Being a local, KL is rubbish a place I avoid. Go into a the malls but spending 4 hours for return journey for a 20-30km journey is madness. . Terrible traffic, city planning very bad. Floods, and high crime . Surely most Tourists regret coming to Malaysia. Conned by our tourism posters.
True. Very piss poor urban planning.

There is always hope. Citta mall and waterfront desa parkcity wasn't very popular also, but refocusing on f&b managed to revive both malls and make them popular
Yes, their F&B and Grocer seems to attracted many local residents
The development is not even finished, thats why.
I Love LalaPort.. Great Environment. You don't feel closed in and I like that they're focus on Creative Displays. It's a Photography Haven
Personally I love Lalaport design too
I namely go there for Jaya Grocer.
Lalaport. Sounds like places for hot pot.
yeah add pudu jail theme lol...
The top comment on this video is so true… last time when u went to 1U or something you’d see everyone walking with shopping bags and carts but now you see it a lot less if u pay attention
Mase awal2 bukak dulu die tak pandai marketing.. x mcm TRX .. tiap2 Bulan buat event panggil celebrity luar..
management penting.. kalau setakat buat mall je..xde beza dengan time square.. pavillion dn lain2 mall sekitar situ.. harapkan event bon ondori je la... Kawasan tumpuan Tp x pandai manfaatkan..
Patut buat kawasan breakfast2 / makan ringan2 zone ala2 coffee cafe mcmtu.. untuk attract orng dtg lpk.. then buat zone bar mcm untuk foreigners dtg lpk... Buat open live band sekitar zone Tu.. baru la full house..
Ni setakat mall semata2 .. baik g mid valley & the garden.. superb..semua ade😅
Fullkan semua kedai dekat situ.. Bg la discount dulu 1tahun ke ape... Atau free rental 2+1 peryear.. 😂 br company besar berani masuk..
Ni sewa dh la Mahal.. customer xde😅😂
Ni premium..dah bagi diskaun tairk siapa? Bangla carwash? Penjual ubat kuat , ubat ketat, jual perfum Arab, food court ada gerai mamak, org asing berniaga? Banyak mall mampus sebab tak kawal jenis tenant. Mall mati sebab terlalu banyak. Brand besar mana mahu masuk. Semua brand sama..radius tak sampai 10km dah berapa mall dengan jenama retail sama. Ini Semua sebab perancangan gelojoh Dan bodoh. Kerjaaan kita pun sama. Mana mana boleh Bina mall. Jalanraya sesak nak mampus. Perancangan trafik, jalanraya Dan pembinaan amat teruk. Parking tak cukup, ukat parking merata. Banjir kilat pulak. kL dah makin teruk. Tempat org asing Indon Bangla Pakistani, Arab, afrika bermahajalela.
Great video. Jia you.
If you are introvert this is the best mall for you 😂
exactly im here weekly embracing my introvertness
If times square already suffered from low traffic and dying mall, wat more for lalaport? Even though the malls r linked its still located to the edge of bkt bintang. For normal pedestrian, its considered far from thr having to cross a main road. Public transport dun help much since sg wang has its own monorail station. Locals with family usually drive, and the one way traffic of bkt bintang makes it difficult to come here when thrs other more convenient malls. Times square manages to get by bcoz of strong backing. Not sure bout lalaport. It has a condo thr that attracts expats
There are too many big Malls & even some of them are close by. I don't understand the justification in building too many Malls (the big ones)...
It's overpriced and not worth a penny. The developers are too optimistic. This is not rocket science; it's basic economy .
Done Sub Bro. Your video remind me of all the memory of going to mall when young and now with family, i seldom come to the mall coz to save cos and xda Tujuan untuk jalan di Mall besar. Most of the item we buy via online and byk groceries kita beli via Lotus atau Giant. That Enough. Overall keep it up sir. Thanks.

Rooftop just watch scenary..no buy things..
traffic could be an issue for this mall.
The competition of premium malls is very fierce only the best of the best can attract shoppers
Good news for you Chester - You have one subscriber more! ;-)

Too many malls but fewer shoppers. Demand and supply issue.
The number of shopping malls is okay, but they have to serve a different purpose or different customer areas. I dont think they can pull the traffic away from the pavillion mall
More malls are going to keep opening in Malaysia unless the state or federal government stop issuing new licenses
Just to many malls in Malaysia. Easier to go online.
I clicked on subscribe just for the eco friendly wood veneer and galvanized square steel reference alone.
Thank you
too early to judge!
give it 7 years. put a lot of pubs restaurant at the F&B.
The japanese are not stupid to invest into that mall project.
Hopefully they can turn it around quickly
Take a leaf from kampung baru, Jalan Alor and Brickfields and merge the cultural environment and cuisine into an open food court on the food street, open stages for Malaysian cultural / music troupes/ bands, minus the filth and heat. That should spice it up. Imagine Kampung Baru in the sky on the top floor.
Is beautiful mall and love the design … maybe can copy its siblings at Japan… bring scale 1:1 Gundam😊.. sure will be famous tags in Malaysia 🎉
pavilion, trx, suria klcc, mid valley, velocity, mytown ikea next coming opened 118mall ,time square lala is gg
Ya, Klang Valley currently too populated with malls
So far its my fav place. The food court is huge (i wish they got like lotus food court food choice) got cinemas, and below the cinemas also got another food court. Great rooftop view, got grocer, gacha and the best part is doing assignment at the rooftop foodcourt
My family loves japanese household products, but nowadays shopping is at our bottom priority list
the only thing i like bout this mall issss.... free kids playground.. not just that... its located almost on every floor man.
The trouble is there are too many shopping malls in KL
We just went there, I actually like it, but it seems like it would be more lively in the evening, with the food street and the roof garden especially
Heard that its due to different rental
Process requirements and deposits that use japanese way.
Fear 😰 to be around this mall. Especially the under ground car park 🅿️ !
1 thing.
Hobby center/space.. card games, mini 4wd /RC
Have space for events...
Have space where ppl can open do flea market, self hand.made staff..
my most fav mall so modern comfortable and the best not many people
Please rename your bloody title. The mall doesn't cost RM 8.7 billion. Just Lalaport alone is RM 1.6 billion. RM 8.7 billion is the entire BBCC project.
Doesn't make sense the mall would cost that much.
Yes, the entire BBCC is RM8.7b

Was very familiar with every part of KL , from Kepong to Cheras , from Ampang to Gombak , Sentul to Bukit Bintang from 1970 to 2007 during the construction boom.Know every shopping complex then , including all those in P.Jaya to Subang.
Can reach anywhere and any malls \shopping complexes without WAZE ( Waze didn't exist then )
I think we have too many malls in the Klang Valley , and I haven't been to any mall that opened in the last 15 years.
And I don't even know some location of these "new" malls.
There are hundred of thousands who probably don't know more malls\shopping complexes than me , so how would there be enough crowds to fill these places.
The kebab kiosk at LG1 (container kebab) very delicious but no much people know about it.

The F&B on the outdoor side are pretty decent during dinner hours. But the prices however are on above average for local Malaysians
Actually the small dying malls you will see the lower end moms/pops retailers, many many malls dweller don't like those
Went once and found it nothing special. They should have taken inspiration from specialty malls like in Shibuya
The management should try to invite more Japanese retailers to Lalaport and make this mall authentic Japanese mall outside of Japan
parked here at lalaport when it was free parking for a whole year, never bought anything, just parked and took monorail to office in Bukit Bintang. Ever since they scrapped the free parking, no longer step foot here. Thanks for your video showing the status of the mall.
Thanks for sharing
pretty decent mall in term of its layout. hope it thrive.
It is not failing, it's just so close to some haunted location. There is something need to be done just like when the new mall opened in Taiwan.
Jaya has an excellent selection of food at that location.
It's just a many Chinese has this perception about the mall's fengsui
The developer of this mall really gutsy, betting against the odds!
Bigger the gamble higher the rewards... LOL
Lalaport, Empire, Glo- All these shopping malls will not survive......just wait and see.
Agree
Which Empire? The one in Subang? Seems to have it's niche crowd there.
What made it a failure i believe is the exterior design. The part that faces jalan pudu is just a wall. It should be opened up with double glass unit for high end brands like pavilion bb with wide walk way and green. All the nice design are hidden inside between buildings.
Evolve Mall @ Ara Damansara should be up there as one of the most dead mall in klang valley
it's been years since I've step foot to Evolve Mall. I've already bookmark this mall in my diary
Pavilion damansara is also another goin to be death mall imo...
The visitors mainly from weekday office workers, just like DC Mall.
@@JustinHor u r talking abt window shoppers? Cant sustain if u depend on office workers only...how much can they spend for the retailer to sustain?
I just went there like last month, its quite far from many people despite having MRT station
