I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes...
@@CharlesBenjamin-q The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
To me 3 biggest issues: 1) Harsh ride quailty means you neck/back hurts after long drive; 2) You can never rest your right foot if you are driving for hours (I experienced cramp and had to stop on the side); 3) Rattling noises all over from dash/doors/unknown places. Buy one if you can accept these issues.
Great Video, thanks. I gotta say, I have owned Mercedes for the last 25 years, and many of the same problems surface on brand new mercedes suvs. engines quit/die. car fails to start because of a switch or sensor, and on and on. Power steering units fail, and last of all , fit and finish issues as well. brake issues. most of my friends are loyal bmw guys, and even more issues with bimmers, so I honestly believe that ANY mass produced vehicle , no matter what engine or drive train will have similar issues, that once in a while , cannot be avoided.
I owned Japanese cars to avoid the reasons you and the video creator noted. I bought a 2015 Accord that I sold in 5 years after 70k miles and currently driving a RAV4 hybrid driven for about 25K miles, and let me tell you not a single issue in both my cars except for oil change and tire rotation every 10k miles or every 9 months. Mind you I can actually afford a German car, but just hate their reliability.
This video was so accurate and well done. I agree with the price increase not being worth it. I ended up getting the model X because the model Y at the time increased dramatically to $85k. I wanted the model Y because like he said, it checks all the boxes for most. But when the price increased so much in a short period of time, it honestly just was not luxurious enough to justify it. It is a tech car that’s fun, it’s not a luxury brand. I agree with him too- once it’s time for me to consider another car again, due to the quality issues- i may end up going back to previous luxury brands instead too.
I know this is weird, but can I ask what do you do for a living as a fellow black person? I'm trying to change careers to tech/IT so I can afford a EV.
I agree with you. I absolutely love my Model Y, but may be open to a different EV in the future. Tesla needs to step up the quality and customer service for the prices they are charging.

The quality and customer service of Tesla is outstanding. I have an MX and an M3. I would like to test out a Y. The only problem is that acceleration is so fast that you will get a speeding ticket if you are not careful. Love the comfortable and very quiet Rides!
it's not a quality problem, it's a fit and finish problem. Quality is state and performance of the car which Tesla is far better than the rest and they're improving on their finishing too
@@Omega---13 There is zero point to improve let say acceleration from 6s to 3s all you get is to buy new tires sooner and nothing else. Range is what people want more but there are already few other brand which are almost neck to neck about range.
I've had my Model Y Performance for 12 months. 30k miles driven. Refilled the window wiper fluid twice. Replaced the 2 rear tires from wear and tear with Tesla which cost me about $1,000. No other service issues. In July 2021 I paid 68k out the door. Wrapped the car and ceramic coated the entire vehicle for $10k. 1. Exterior and interior is a cheaper quality compared to other car companies. 2. Manually closing the front trunk correctly can be difficult at times. 3. Acceleration is amazing, but the ride is bumpy compared to other premium crossovers. 4. The touchscreen is the most responsive and user-friendly compared to any other vehicle manufacturer in the market. 5. The Tesla fast-charging network is #1 compared to other car companies. 6. So much fun to drive. I'm probably never going to buy another ICE vehicle. 7. Quality of life improvements make getting in and out of your car extremely easy.
Even though I had an MX and have the Cybertruck and MY on order, I think the Etrons are cooler cars. If Tesla allows supercharging for other brand EVs, an Etron may be a better luxury EV choice for me. Better paint, better feeling materials, premium interior, fun to drive, better design and more unique, too.
Good comments Victor. Now tell the truth.....Are you wearing out your tires because you're having fun blowing the doors off every ICE you meet at a red light???? HAHAHA!
They called today and said it was in did I want it a day early. It's in the drive after ordering 8 days ago and I looked it up and down in out you name it. My wife's 2021 model 3 was made in Fremont and panel gaps were bad. Freemont has stepped it up this thing is flawless.

The price increase is because the Tesla Model Y is the only Tesla that fully qualifies for the tax reduction of $7500 for buying an EV vehicle. Tax Exemption law was passed during the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act or whatever it's called. The other Teslas only qualify for $3500. Buying EV is a really good idea right now because of that tax exemption bit added in last year, but the cars have to me be basically made and primarily sourced in the U.S; so, the list isn't very long
We absolutely love our 3 after 4 months, and can’t wait to get our Y soon (8 month wait). I wish we could keep both. Our 3 has had no issues, on delivery or afterwards. I think they are definitely working on the quality issues. And like you said, you could get more range if you drove without so much acceleration, but that’s no fun. Lol
What makes you “think” they are working on quality issues? Thinking in one hand and reality in the other hand are two different things. Just thinking it, doesn’t make it so. Tesla has had many years to fix quality issues and I haven’t seen any major changes to that currently. I have a Tesla service/sales(pickup) center nearby that has a good dozen teslas waiting for service. My local collision center where my cousin works gets many newish Teslas that need a lot of work. One example is the missing undercoating spray. Another popular one is body panels, such as the rear bumper cover falling off. I’m a big Elon fan but he seriously needs to get his Tesla company on track as I’d like to buy one but not willing to deal with all the flaws and cheap interior for $70k+
Great honest straight to the point review! I haven’t come across a review that doesn’t mention design flaws or early month service tickets. This is the only thing stopping me from buying a Tesla
@@EB-ok3io To put things in perspective, our Ford Explorer is on recall #7. They tell you not to drive the car because it's unsafe...but they don't have parts to fix the issue and don't know when they will have parts. So frustrating. I had one minor issue with my Tesla model 3 (a window air leak at high speeds) and the mobil service came to my work and fixed it in the parking lot. You won't get that service from your local dealership.
@@Acsantes73 You misunderstood. The recalls have been general recalls for 2016 model year Ford Explorers. The car isn't a lemon; Ford just has a ton of recalls. My daughter drives a Ford Fusion and it's on reall #4. From the news you'd think Tesla is the only company that has ever had a recall.
We all need more of these kinds of real-life, customer reviews. I drive less than 20 miles per day in mostly excellent warm weather in SC. Kevin, after viewing your video I decided not to purchase a FISKEER EV I had booked and went for a Hybrid RAV4! less than half the model Y or fisker Ocean price, and neat features. The fenders reportedly stay in place, and the vehicle gets a lot done with radars and fewer cameras, making simple repairs not expensive. Just imagine the cost of repairing a fender-bender on a Y. Those crazy number of sensors will make repairs extremely expensive and even unreliable.
So glad I found your channel, I too live in Michigan. I've almost pulled the trigger a few times on a EV, and every time I back out due to cold and winter range loss. It feels that now the EV sales are slowing, availability will be better.
Honestly, i'm not too crazy about fit and finish (those panel gaps). I own the new lexus rx and there are some gaps too. The most important parts to pay attention are if the car fully functional, sensors are working properly, battery is good, steering wheel is good, there shouldn't be any rattle noises, lights are light up when on, brake lights are on when brake, these are things to focus.
Thank you. Excellent, down to earth, short, concise, get to the point review. As another commenter mentioned, I agree with you 100%. Keep up the great job!
Without saying the NEMA number/descriptor (explaining the amperage and voltage, and the plug type), saying “a NEMA plug” is meaningless. They’re all NEMA plugs, that’s just a standard. You can have a NEMA plug that is the same as your household 110/120v outlet, which will charge the car in ~24 hours or so, or a 220/240v plug (like welders would use) that will charge the car in 4-8 hours. Obviously it depends on the charge state of the car, though, on how long it takes. But every Tesla adapter for the mobile connector is a NEMA plug/adapter.
Hello Kevin, Please get Blizzaks or Nokian haakapelitta Winter tires. You won't be disappointed on ice and snow driving. I live in Colorado, that's all we use in the winter. It like driving on dry pavement even if it's icy.
Very valid point. My Y has no mechanical issues but I ended up DYI on the common rattles on rear view mirror area and such which are easy to do with the right tools but it does reek of made to a price point.

$64k?!? I just picked up my 2024 MYLR last week. I paid extra for white seats, tow hitch and ultra red paint. After tax incentive and discount on Tesla site: $44,800. I am loving it. It took 16 days from the day I ordered to when I was driving it off the lot.
Great you help me out. Was looking to purchase inventory Model Y for 47k. But I think I will stay with fuel burner. To many unknowns with EV's. Mileage is my biggest concern. Thanks for real world review.
Good news! I think the best upgrade options yoke steering wheel+titanum lugnuts. Let me know if you're interested in adding any of these accessories to your own amazing Tesla!
Hey, here in Michigan too. I know you like performance, but what’s your thoughts on long range? Not driving long distances, but think it will be a better battery. ?? With price drop is it worth it now? Also, what happens to buyers who bought at higher price?
I suppose if that Tesla charger is out of stock (and you know you'll be buying a tesla). You might as well get that thing well in advance and even have it hooked up in your garage. Then at least you know you'll have it and you can come home on day 1 and charge. It would be cool to have electric snowblower, lawnmower with tesla batteries too! all of them charging with the same plug. That would be awesome!
Thanks for the honest review. I will also be trading in my white/black 3P for a white/white YP (possibly this week). There are definitely quirks you have to deal with owning a Tesla (silly panel fitment, no CarPlay, etc.) but I do love the minimalist interior, the buying experience and quite a few other things.
Hopefully this delivery goes better for you. We had no panel issues on our M3 we got in June. And our other car has CarPlay, and it’s useless without a giant screen. I much prefer the Tesla format, but do wish we could get some more apps. I am not missing all the buttons, but I know some people do. To each their own! I love that it doesn’t feel like a plain ‘ol car.
I test drove a MYP a couple months ago, and it sure is quick in a straight line and handles turns really well. Great turning radius. The suspension is not up to par with traditional auto makers though. I really like it, and have put in an order for one. But I’m not sure if I’m gonna go through with it. I feel like Tesla is starting to price themselves out of the market. Along with reports of poor service/support, overwhelming orders and rushed production, it’s making it tough to think it’s a wise purchase at north of $70k. Nice succinct review Kevin!
For what it's worth; I'm super happy with the build quality of my Model 3 and very pleasantly surprised by the service. My charge port needed some adjusting and they came to my driveway to fix it in 30 minutes. The savings on fuel alone make it worth it (i have solar panels).

I don’t really care about the negatives, the negatives aren’t that bad compared to regular cars. What I care about is it being able for me to travel. Compared to what I got now, the Tesla is a luxury car. So yeah I’m subbing heh 😅
Question for you: did you install PPF/ceramic coat on your Model Y? If you did or did not, any feedback about it? How’s the car look if you did not get it
@@Techninjaspeaks thanks for the reply. I will not be getting it either. Just wanted to see your thoughts…it’s refreshing to see people not make it out to be a necessity and understand rock chips are going to happen. It’s a car at the end of the day, it is what it is.
Interesting, Richard Symonds (RSymonds on UA-cam) highly recommends PPF especially if its a black painted car, he did a piece about it recently, worth.a look at what he says on the subject
I just drove a model three for the first time today after selling my 2022 3 series back to the dealer. I'm surprised that nobody talks about how uncomfortable the model three seats are for tall people. The seat cushion needs to be at least another 3 inches longer or at least have an extension option. It's potentially a deal killer for me
Why would anyone pay that kind of money for vehicle with those defects? The range on these are terrible for long road trips and as you point out the battery performance is degraded in winter driving. I agree with you, competition is the only thing that is going drive the quality up and the prices down on Tesla, until then you will pay a premium price to join the Telsa Cult. Just stare into the mighty T and you will be converted!
What defects ? It’s an incredible piece of kit ! I swapped an X5 MSPORT for it ! The first 3 weeks of MY ownership I had both cars The X5 felt like a fucking antique ! Honestly
The range on any EV is bad for a real road trips, that's why I still have a suburban. The only issue I ever had was the plastic cover under the front that can come loose and break off in pieces. What makes Tesla better is the charging network is great compared to the others. I would prefer a Rivian our a Hummer but the other charging networks are to far in between and hit or miss.
Yeah, ridiculous that lower priced cars come with homelink but it’s extra with Tesla. I was thinking of getting it but didn’t, couldn’t justify the price. I’ll keep pushing my remote button for free and use that $300 for something more worth it.
It has been recommended to not go cheap on the electrical outlet. It's cheaper for a reason and charging a car with it could cause problems. Be safe and only buy quality electrical outlets.

Hi I haven't gone through all your videos yet, but based on build quality, functionality and range alone, which EV would be at the top??Or how would you position them from most desirable to least desirable??
Great video! You answered all of my questions. I especially liked hearing how much it actually cost to install the wires. I was quoted the same amount since my box is far as well. I have a model 3 and was equally looking to trade it in for the y- especially since the price has gone down so much! But word on the street is a redesigned model Y Is on the horizon. So, i think ill just wait it out.
Right on Kevin. I'm a 70+ year old who picked up a model Y about 9 months ago and the experience was terrible. I'd prefer to deal with a company that treats you like a customer. However, the engineering of the car is very good.
Great video, well explained. I agree, in a couple years Tesla may not have my business either. The landscape is changing quick. Grateful that Tesla started all of this, but it may be time to move on.
I have never driven one...someone mentioned "You can never rest your right foot"....what's that all about?....and ...When you take your foot off the accelerator, do the brake lights come on? Thx
I looked at some videos on the Model Y long range model. Looks like the base price is 54,990 dollars. With taxes and options, etc it is probably an over 60,000 dollar car. I didn't know the wait time are that long to get one. That is really bad. How is the service dept if you have problems with a Tesla???? I heard war stories getting the car serviced. I would also have to setup a long run for doing home charging from the house breaker box, so I would be looking at around 1000 dollars also. That is awesome the speeds the model Y Teslas can do. I don;t know where you would ever get the vehicle up to 150 mph, if I read the specs correctly for the performance model. The long range model I think does 130 mph. Crazy speeds. But thanks for your review. I am also looking some Chevy EV's as a little cheaper option.
The $30 iNEMA plug can burn down your home, get a better outlet your family I am sure is worth more than $30. Hubbell is $85-130 but is a daily usage plug and not a weekly oven, dryer usage outlet.
The software in the car owned by Tesla when you buy a can you do not buy the software therefore no one can make any modifications or the system shut down and can only be reset by a Tesla only.
Exactly, there are other options out there for an EV. In my looking around at the other options - Ford MachE, Kia EV6, etc. Those cars were serious contenders. But to get their vehicle as close to the same build as Tesla as possible - AWD, the longest range you can get with their car, and by the time the unscrupulous dealers mark it up you are paying Tesla prices. So, at least for me if I am going to pay Tesla prices I may just as well buy the Tesla. Especially since the Tesla is widely regarded as being years ahead of the competition in their technology as well as experienced in this new platform of electric vehicles . Plus, can't forget about the whole charging network thing if you travel.
id get it just for the safety, a couple months ago some dude in California purposely drove his family off a 250ft cliff on purpose, all 4 passengers survived, and the dude was arrested. none of the rescue crew expected to find even 1 person alive.
Excellent review, I think there should be traditional knobs and buttons for most used functions, like the fan or the wipers, currently having balancing issues, which the dealer does not cover under warranty. But over all love my 2021 model Y. But I think the thing that sets teslas apart from the other evs is the supercharger network on long distance routes.
@@theresidetective1646 It was designed that way. Does your car have customizable features, software updates, Supercharger network, BEST SAFETY RECORD, etc. No? I thought so. Also, Model Y isn't 100k.
That could be his cost. It depends on how far away from your electric control panel your outlet will be located. In my case, it was around 4’ and my cost was $600. If you get the Tesla unit you still have to have the wiring done plus $500 for the charging unit. Unfortunately Tesla is not including the remote cable that he is using as well as what I use. You can get it for $200 when you order the car. Still $300 less than the fancy Tesla unit to only charge about 13-14 miles per hour more. You will never notice that difference. I can charge from 20-80% in about 7 hours. Just charge overnight and you are good to go.
@@tomsekerchak2176 He mentioned seperate price for charging unit and 1200 for the cable.. In any case, he got robbed.. you can buy 1200$ of cable and wrap your house around 10 times

Great review! Done very well. FYI Model Y performance 0-60 is way higher than the 3.2 you mentioned :P. Model 3 is 3.1 for the performance and in top best conditions with rollout removed. Seriously though, out of the hundreds of reviews I've watched this was a great, fair and honest review. Well done.
FYI - Our electric company reimbursed us for the cost of the Tesla Wall Connector. Many people that don't want to spend the $500 might not realize there are incentives to add a level 2 charger in your home in many states.
Yes. I just bought a 2023 Y long range and the ride is perfect with the changes. Plus, I qualify for the $7500 tax credit so I’ll have paid around $50k for my Y.
This is a great review I am on the fence to lease one. Right now it cost $519 for a basic model Y just missing enhanced autopilot. I don’t have a home charger because our house doesn’t have a garage but we have a super charger across the street in the gas station. This would be my weekend car for the family so might be worth the shot. Does anyone have any experience with solely charging away from home? Also this wouldn’t be used for work or driving most of the week.
Just got MYP last week. It is an awesome car, but yes, the quality of the interior could have been a little more premium. That said, technology is definitely ahead of the game.

If you think you should get a luxury interior for that price, are you willing to give up that tech? Don't you think you are paying for the tech, and not necessarily for the luxury? How many cars go from 0-60 in low 3 secs? Those vehicles are usually in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, or even over million dollars. Just sayin......
Pure Michigan!! I’m from the area but out of state now for a while. How’s the public charging situation around the metro area? I was thinking of road tripping back, but last time I looked (maybe year or two ago) there are basically no superchargers around. I think there was one in AA and one at the showroom in Great Lakes crossing. Is there any more now beyond this?
Hello from Michigan! Yeah! Livonia, northvile, AA, Saint Clair Shores, Clinton Township, a few other places. Also Walmart has electrify America stations too.
@@Techninjaspeaks wow seems like they really started adding them in! I have the CCS adapter so I guess that can open up extra options too. I think the main reason I didn’t drive it back last time was because of only those two options. You’re from the area, you know how you can easily rack up 100 miles in one drive from one side of town to the other, etc. One of my main concerns is about going up north and if it’s doable, or quite a challenge? Been a long time since I hit the UP, would love to relax up there again
Does the backseat in your car have four reclining levels? I am having an issue where one side reclines three levels while the other side reclines four levels. This is very frustrating.
Hey man! I just discovered your channel! Thanks for the review! We also took delivery of our MYLR December 24, 2021 here in Minnesota - how weird is that?. So, our MYLR is now 6 months old. We also got the tow hitch and Blue paint so ours cost the same as yours. In February I realized how crazy high the resale value was soooo.... on March 1, 2022 I ordered a blue MYP with a tow hitch and 3 days later the prices went up as you know. Took delivery of the MYP on June 18 and getting it wrapped with a clear "prism" PPF so it changes from deep blue to deep purple depending on viewing angle. Now, I need to sell the MYLR and it looks like that resale value is still more than what I paid for the MYP. .....I also got the messages for "camera blocked" messages too, mainly due to condensation in the B-Pilar cameras. Car in warm humid garage, then it goes out in the cold air and that little camera window fogs up. The MYP seems to have much better fit/alignment than the MYLR, both Fremont built cars. Curious about where you are in Michigan. I grew up in Detroit (Greenfield & Puritan) in the 1960s & 1970s then moved to Minnesota in 1977 for work and ended up staying here. My wife and I are planning a trip to visit friend & relatives in the Detroit area. Be a hoot and a half to meet you someplace along the way. Cheers dude!
Nice review. I am trying to finish my last details to pick one up. Your fender issue is funny.. nott funny ha ha, funny strange. No fan boy here either. But it has got the best tech for me, at least for now. I am curious, did you get the auto park and summons acti step in yours? I hot what I saw as a last minute notice that there are no longer radar sensors being used, so autopark and summons are "temporarily unavailable " until an update comes out. Does yours have the round radar sensors? Thanks again gor the review.
We love our Tesla y. The features we are sorely missing are a light on the relevant rear view mirrors when there is someone in the blind spot on either side. If one has a blinker on to move into an occupied blindside, a chime would ring on the relevant side. Blind spot warning can track continuously and draws attention to the surroundings if needed. The other thing that would prevent accidents would be cross traffic warning for the back of the car, for card or people walking by. Please please please add these features.
Great video! Is your Y a 2021 or 2022? I have one on order that’s supposed to be delivered in November or December and I’d rather have a 2023 than a 2022.
We will have our Tesla Long Range Model Y for a year in September. I absolutely love it, it's the most comfortable car to drive I have ever owned. Shortly after receiving our car, I had PPF put on the entire car. The company that did it, did an awesome job and charged a fair price. He was telling me that there are cars that are for more expensive than Tesla that have the same issues with the panel gaps. Cars aren't going to be perfect, no matter the price of the vehicle.
What I needed to hear, thank you. My concern is using the screen, whist driving. Yes there's voice commands and steering wheel control. However; taking your eyes of the road for one second can be fatal.
I have a MYP on order and have been trying to find ways to talk myself out of it. I’ve gone to the dealer several times to look at them. I’m having a tough time with a 72,000 car not having anything inside of it but a screen. Maybe I’m just used to a bunch of buttons and switches. I considered the EV6, but they have a $15,000 dealer markup! The Mach E and Lightning are sold out. I don’t know what to do!
If you are so bummed about the MYP……what i would do is …..put an order out for the car you think you want…..buy the MYP when it comes……then sell it! The price will have gone up….so you make a little profit……then you can get what you think you want! I got my LRMY in late may……I’m really happy with it……so far - no issues.. is it the luxurious car like Mercedes? Probably not… but for me…..i like tech…. Its like an iphone on wheels…..i don’t need all those buttons…..I’m satisfied with what i have …..but you have the power to make your decision…… who knows…..you may enjoy the Y more than you think!
@@Cocoatreat Good points! I’ve been reading a bunch on the Mach E. I feel like that’s what I want, but like all the others, it’s not in stock and marked up like crazy where they are…upwards of 20k. I’m going to go through with my MYP order. At this point, it’s cheaper than all the lesser brands with their markups. I’m at 72k with my options picked.
Thanks Kevin, I got the exact same configuration white on white preformance model Y with fsd in April 22, the fsd dose make driving more relaxed but it gets confused on small roads when there is a change in the painted road lines, (if the dont match uo) shutting itself off. Your driving is unfavorably scored by this error (forced shut-offs) even though its the fsd problem. I heard if your score is below 97 you can't get the beta (up-graded software). I'm at 92 curently, Other compaints with the fsd, it sticks to the same speed when going around sharp corners in the road so it is a bit jerky and feels like its speeding up. It sometimes dose not see speed signs (especially when the signs are caution signs in yellow here in VT) In small towns with narrow streets it drives way to close to the parked cars, if somone opened a door or stepped out between the cars an accident could occure. Most of the time the fsd is pretty good at keeping in the center of the road, however when there is a string of cars coming in the oppisite direction and the road is curving on the drivers side, the fsd goes very close to the center line, and the on coming trafic. My safty habit is to leave more room in case one of the on coming cars swirves a little across the line, but if you do this it will disengage the fsd. Another anoyance is sometimes it comes to an almost dead stop if there is a blinking yellow light, I'v gotten used to this and just accelerate, however if there are drivers directly behind you they can find it anoying. All said, I lreally like the car otherwise, however I live in the mountians on a long steep gravel driveway that gets a ton of snow in the winter so will have to see how well it dose?
FSD and low range is why I sold my MX. My MX would not stop at a stop sign in a quiet area, requesting intervention to stop. I just think it doesn't work. Why would anyone buy a preproduction product? It would only invite criticism.

Nice review. Thank you! I've had S75 dual motor 4 years now. I NEVER keep cars that long but I have no desire to move on. Is it refined like my GS 430. S430, E55, SL550, BMW 750L? NO!! I loved all of those (except HMS Lexus). But the Tesla responds like a car should IMO and I'm not going back to gas. (My "commute" is < 20 mi fwiw). Researching Y to replace wife's highlander.
I've had my MYLR for nearly a year (Sept 2021). I managed to jump on a demo car in existing inventory - which means I have an extra order (which is still pending!). As much as I love the car, there are a few nit-picks - which you already mentioned. Also, my config has increased by over 13K. I think I would have second thoughts at that price point. I really wish the MY had variable or air suspension - at least as an option. It rides like a sports car, which is fine for the Performance model but the LR trim should be about range and comfort. I would love Car Play as an option too. I put in an aftermarket CarPlay media player in my Corolla and it is great - but that's now my daughter's college car. EPA range is just a number to make relative comparisons between cars - but I've never actually got it in the real world. This is also true for my Corolla (36 mpg vs 32 mpg in real world driving). I live in Florida, so I have the opposite problem (hot weather). I get a reasonable 220-240 miles of range driving about 75-85 mph with AC set to 70F in 95F weather. Yeah, I drive a bit fast, but I still get passed like I'm standing still - I normally put the Autopilot at 79 so I don't get a ticket. If I drove the speed limit, I would get a lot more range but run the risk of getting rear-ended. I did "hyper-mile" once in order to make it to my destination, but I was more worried about getting ran over than the range. One thing I have found is that the MY handles very well in rain, even downpours. Obviously, you can hydroplane if you go fast enough, but overall I think I'm able to safely go faster with the MY than my Corolla simply because the MY is a heavier car and the center of gravity is lower (battery pack).
Any chance you're looking to get rid of the extra order? Tesla is my dream car and have been looking for a MY for a while now but the price increases put it out of my budget
Thx for the great review!! I’m thinking of getting the Y performance and since I’m on the west coast, I’m not too concerned about cold weather performance. Are you based on the east coast?
Very good overview of your experiences, thank you. I’ve one on order with the upgraded interior and self driving but not the full package as that doesn’t work here in Great Britain. Ours will come from China so hopefully the build will be better than your America-built one !. I, like you will be looking around in a few years time as there’s plenty of choice out there but right now the Tesla charging network and their software is superior to anything else around. Then again at my age Im thinking this may be the last car I every buy, hopefully it will see me out !.

No one can't seem to answer this question. German cars like BMW and Audi are known for their unreliability and unethical costs of maintenance and repairs. Is there a difference with their EV's. specifically the Audi eTron S Sportback? Since its all battery underneath; whether it be Tesla 3 or Y,, Toyota BZ4X or Audi, eTron there shouldn't be any difference between these cars mechanically, correct? What could go wrong with an Audi eTron over a Tesla Y?
Very interesting insight. I do think Tesla seems to escape a lot of criticism in relation to fit, finish and reliability. No other manufacturer would get away with producing cars with misaligned panels etc without it being a major story. Jeez - Jaguar is still paying for this decades after it stopped even being an issue.
I don't think so, build quality has been Tesla's most criticised aspect over the years. But these cars are seemingly looked at differently from other cars. But in hindsight to go off of what you said about other manufacturers , their are so many cars that have misalignment, panel gaps, and overall QA issues these days.
@@evo5dave You can choose anything from the 2019 mustang premium to the 2016 ford focus. Even my lamborghini Urus had significant fit and finish issues upon delivery that I had to get shopped 6 times, some of which weren't even covered. Tesla's issues are simply just more prevalent than others on social media. Also Remember be objective, The brand is quite literally 19 years old with only 4 makes released made with parts that are constantly on backorder along with an overwhelming amount of orders. I'm not naive enough to look at their situation and expect zero issues at this given time in their run.
For me "checking all the boxes" would include not having body panels fall off and having problems like failing sensors fixed without question. I would go so far to say that anyone who would excuse those kinds of failures, on a repeat purchase, is a fanboy despite the protestations.
The mark up by dealers is the one that made me jump the gun on Tesla. I wasn’t planning on getting one until I found out toyota jacking up their prices so much that it’s only a few hundred dollars cheaper than Tesla. The dealers mark up the price by $15K.

Cruise control or autopilot gives your right foot a rest.
I'm trying to change careers to tech/IT so I can afford a EV.

not many good EV mid-size suv
I’ve been watching Tesla videos for about three months. By far the best one yet. Nice job.
I wish everyone spoke like you do (no upspeak) and design and edit their videos like you. Nicely done!
$10K to wrap and ceramic coat your ride? You got ripped off.

You clearly have no clue about Teslas sensors 😂
Tbh a Corolla or even Prius probably has all of that ticked just not an ev. When you pay this much you uneeded but nice to have premium stuff

Good to know
Hopefully this delivery goes better for you. We had no panel issues on our M3 we got in June. And our other car has CarPlay, and it’s useless without a giant screen. I much prefer the Tesla format, but do wish we could get some more apps.

Question for you: did you install PPF/ceramic coat on your Model Y? If you did or did not, any feedback about it? How’s the car look if you did not get it

Why would anyone pay that kind of money for vehicle with those defects? The range on these are terrible for long road trips and as you point out the battery performance is degraded in winter driving.

Yeah now is the best time to get one. Less demand and price is down
The $30 iNEMA plug can burn down your home, get a better outlet your family I am sure is worth more than $30.

FYI - Our electric company reimbursed us for the cost of the Tesla Wall Connector. Many people that don't want to spend the $500 might not realize there are incentives to add a level 2 charger in your home in many states.
Sorry I'm not paying that much for those problems
Well yeah. Don’t pay for more than what you can afford.
@@dogbots159 I could afford the car, I just don't think it's worth what it's asking price not it's issues.
No one is asking you to pay. The car is awesome

J Cole's brother is crazy knowledgeable ☺️ thanks for all the info provided in this vid
I ain’t hear that in a min.
Interesting that the model Y now starts at just under 55k. Feel bad for those who paid way more last year.
Yes. I just bought a 2023 Y long range and the ride is perfect with the changes. Plus, I qualify for the $7500 tax credit so I’ll have paid around $50k for my Y.
Watching this video after the price cut… model y long range is $49,990
This is a great review I am on the fence to lease one.
Charging on at super charger is going to ruin your battery. I would just get a home charger. They have outdoor ones too.
Love this review. The first I’ve heard of many of these pros and cons. Appreciate your contribution on the Tesla Y research!
Prices have come down... a Model Y Performance like you configured would cost $60K and you can get $7500 tax credit.
Just got MYP last week. It is an awesome car, but yes, the quality of the interior could have been a little more premium. That said, technology is definitely ahead of the game.
Good news! I think the best upgrade options yoke steering wheel+titanum lugnuts. Let me know if you're interested in adding any of these accessories to your own amazing Tesla!
Sad to watch so many tesla owners settle for so much mediocrity in order to say they drive a tesla. 75k should get you 2x the car you described.
So how would you compare it to say the Mustang Mach E Premium?
I only had the standard range version, sadly
I would definitively miss LED matrix, head up display and a 360 camera. These are things that I have on my almost half the price Mazda CX5.
Wish they would add Heads up display. I have it on my mid engine Vette and miss it on the Tesla.
What is winter like for you in so cal lowest is usually 40 degrees will that greatly affect range ?
At 40 I’d think the first bit of driving would be. But it’ll warm up quickly. right now it’s 40s and I’m not seeing any crazy range difference.
Crazy how the price has changed. This same build is now 51k.
When he said $70K I was like damn 😮
Thank you for your unbiased opinions. Greatly appreciated
Great video! Is your Y a 2021 or 2022? I have one on order that’s supposed to be delivered in November or December and I’d rather have a 2023 than a 2022.
At what point do they start giving people the 2023
We will have our Tesla Long Range Model Y for a year in September.
@brandon: Whats PPF?

Cancel. Listen to your conscience. Save the stress and enjoy the relief and next year maybe check out the 2023's?

This must have been a good choice with the price drop in 2023 on Tesla model y.
Now it's a good price to buy one
One of the best and most articulate reviews I have watched!...thank you for taking the time to do the video. Very helpful! :-)
Why was the video private earlier? I was in the middle of watching it and then it was taken off.
Good news! I think the best upgrade options yoke steering wheel+titanum lugnuts. Let me know if you're interested in adding any of these accessories to your own amazing Tesla!
So would you purchase it again
@@A_J100 Absolutely. Now that I'm in Colorado, it makes even more sense.
Crazy that the Model Y now is 34k 😳

This was a great video. Super easy to follow and no fluff. Idk if I’ll watch any of your other stuff but I’m subbing just to support. Great job!
@@ApoCaLypSeXVII Which other premium manufacturers have misaligned panels as a regular complaint in 2022?
Fanboys, lol you sure got that right! For that much money, the product has to be in mint condition which Tesla is obviously not. What a joke.
The mark up by dealers is the one that made me jump the gun on Tesla. I wasn’t planning on getting one until I found out toyota jacking up their prices so much that it’s only a few hundred dollars cheaper than Tesla. The dealers mark up the price by $15K.
I know nothing about cars period but am considering getting a T model Y… this was helpful ❤
Their quality control sucks .how the hell can a fender cone off..they prob disabled the sensors instead of fixing it .
Why are there no all season or snow tires available with the 21s
And now it’s $13,000 cheaper. Good luck reselling that thing!
