My wife and I brought our Trailhawk version in 2017 and it has been a great car. It so civilized for the city and when we want to drive it off of the road it’s totally capable. One of the best mini SUV’s out there for sure.
I've had my 1.3 Auto Limited since March (Germany). Love it. The Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist are amazing on the Autobahn - best feature ever on a car. Infotainment is intuitive and no lag. Would highly recommend.
@@catherineofsweden24 Absolutely fine. Because the car is quite heavy it feels very stable fast, and accelerates quickly and around 140km/h it's absolutely normal - I don't really go faster (my limit, not the car!). I would say noise is about the same as a new Golf. It's easy having a conversation with people in the back etc. I don't notice it, so for me it's never been a problem. One thing that works very well on this model is the adaptive cruise control and lane keep, even with the mad drivers cutting in on the autobahn ;)
Over 5 years old now. But not a bad city car. It took a long time for FCA to replace that 2.5L "multiair" motor. It's better than before, although the 9-speed transmission still doesn't behave. Here’s my take on my 2020 Jeep Renegade. Cons: My Radio lags due to the Uconnect unit having internal issue which Jeep does not hold themselves accountable. Keyless entry doesn’t unlock flawlessly when touched and pulled. You have to touch the handle and give it a second or two before opening, so if you’re in danger in any way don’t expect to just grab and pull and you’re safe! You’ll have to lock it and touch it and wait for a second or two before it fully unlocks again. Plastic sway bar links go out fairly fast before 25k miles and that’s just commute from work and home. So replace those asap to the solid steel ones that’ll last you way way longer (Although this should’ve been standard). The amount of plastic parts on Jeeps is ridiculous for maintenance. They just creek like crazy over time, and mine is only at 37k miles. Trunk space isn’t all that. If you’re looking for bigger trunk room you can forget about it. I don’t like how you can’t lock your 4 wheel drive permanently if you wanted to. I absolutely hate the quality of the Uconnect navigation system, I can’t add my address as the way it prompts you to input it is just ridiculous. It took me awhile to figure out how to delete my addresses too, definitely not user friendly. Last but not least the depreciation of Jeep renegades are ridiculously crazy. That’s obviously a huge red flag despite what any one says! Any car that is super reliable and robust will never depreciate this badly. Pros: Head space is phenomenal, wide windows for great views and large side mirrors for better visibility, drives fairly smooth on smooth surfaces and the cabin space is quite quiet but not the best. All black leather interior is a plus for me, the none leather trim is also black which is a super plus! Daytime running lights and lights in general are supper bright which is really nice, I do like some of the added features where you can adjust a certain amount of things from your display. The height of the car is just perfect right out of factory. Personally for me this is my first Jeep, most definitely will also be my last as my experience was definitely not great. I’ve always wanted a Jeep as they look pretty nice and I’ve always liked them. But comparing build quality and reliability to my Toyota and Lexus cars… Jeep doesn’t even come close 🤦♂️
Remember, the fully loaded $35k Renegade is priced before incentives. Most loaded Jeep Renegades are around $32k, all in top trims. However, KBB forgot to mention other subcompact SUV/crossovers as well, including Hyundai Kona, the new Kia Seltos, Nissan Rogue Sport, Honda HR-V, and perhaps the best seller, Subaru Crosstrek.
@@76carmel We picked up a 18 Jeep Renegade Latitude 4x4 the MSRP was over $27g our purchase price was another thing altogether we paid just under $20g with taxes included. So deals can be made....I did test drive the 19 Model with the 1.3l and the deals on the outgoing model were to good to pass up.
Reviewers are so silly..., it's like "oh really, it doesn't have a sporty transmission?!" Well Sherlock, I can tell you my Trailhawk with the 1.3l turbo paired to the 9 speed is a brilliant design for off road, rough terrain, snow/ice etc. It was not made for setting record laps at the Nurburgring, it was not designed for launching off the line, it was made to get safely thru white out blizzards and muddy, up hill, climbs, and pass thru up to 19" of water etc. and better yet it does in fact do exactly as it was made to and continues to get me home thru some really ridiculous weather and terrain.
The lighter models I don't see anything wrong with the transmission and actually it's zippier than others this size has its own look better drivetrain for its size it also seems to be more powerful than some of the bigger models so I don't know why people keep bashing it from the early models I'm glad it doesn't kick down too low gear when you kick it and make it whine like a toy because every day Vehicles shift too low when they kick it and not have no power I prefer the 1.3 4 cylinder actually because the past 2.4 engines consumed oil could be because dealerships seem to overfill people's oil when they change it people need to check all their vehicles oil levels and start complaining about dealerships over feeling
The renegade honestly needs a V6 or Turbo I4 in it to compete with it's competitors - the current motor is a bit lackluster in the power dept, JEEP get on the ball
MSRP wise yes, but in reality the Renegade is cheaper on the dealer lot. Also the Renegade base engine has 34 more HP, and I'd rather have the ZF 9 speed than Kia's "IVT" (CVT).
K Zayas depends what you are looking for. The Kia does better on mpg and the interior, but the renegade is a better car for off-road and weather conditions. Personally I find Kias boring but that’s just me.
@@michaels999 : And now you know why I love standard transmissions. I choose the gear when I want. I had a Datsun 2000 sports car with a 5-speed gearbox and it was an absolute joy to drive. When I hit 6.5 or 7k RPM, I knew it was to shift when racing through the mountains near San Franciso/San Jose.
Bought a 2019 model in June of 2020, brand new sat on lot for year. Good rebates. Latitude model. Made a mechanical whirring sound at times it felt like it was changing gears. 2.4L is sluggish, minimal power. Nice headroom though, comfy cabin. I’m 6’3 and the Renegade is super comfy I thought. Drove from WV to GA then to OR, 4600 miles and tonight it sits at a Jeep dealership because the transmission began knocking, not shifting, and actually shut off the engine. I saw my new Renegade with the temp tags on a flatbed tow truck and it made me wish I bought a Crosstrek.

Toyota-Aisin 6 and 8 speed automatic, Honda 10 speed automatic transmission, Toyota-Aisin CVT transmission, and pretty much any manual transmission that’s not made by FCA or GM lol.

I’ve been in one they’re terrible but a super hot lady was driving it. Now I know why she likes it, the seats were super tight and hard and there’s tons of vibrations in the car 😂
Here's a REAL NO BS QUESTION for those who've owned Renegades--especially Manual Transmissions: How RELIABLE/STABLE is the vehicle? I've test driven a couple of Renegades, and had a blast driving the manual transmission, but the automatic transmission sucked. . .felt like it was working against the vehicle. I've read a lot of negative reviews about how shoddy the transmission is, coupled with Jeep's bad service when it comes to fulfilling the warranty. But I wonder if this same thing applies to MANUAL TRANSMISSION. It's not HIGH on my list when it comes to vehicles, but if the manual transmission Renegade is at all good, I wouldn't mind owning one. Thanks.
I've got a 2016 Renegade with a manual trans. It comes with the 1.4L "turbo", so it has what they call "turbo lag". Going from second to third takes a while, but I didn't buy this because I mistook it for a Ferrari. It's a fun car, has "personality", which is in short supply these days, even in "upscale" vehicles. Very few vehicles come with a stick anymore, but I've had this for two years now and the manual has been "reliable". I got it used from a Jeep dealership and the previous owner burned out the original clutch right before he brought it in to trade in. I actually thought that was a benefit, because I knew I was getting a brand new clutch, not one with 70K miles on it. Have never seen a positive review of the auto trans on this car, but you drove the manual and you liked it, so there is not much more I can say about it. I've had three other manual vehicles (Mazda RX-7, Toyota Celica and Honda Accord) and would rate this manual last to those three because they did not have the "turbo lag". But yeah, it hasn't "crapped out", so I guess it's "stable" enough.
@@jaykay6387 Thanks for your answer. I tried a manual Renegade a few years ago--it was a lot of fun to drive, and definitely superior to the Renegade with automatic transmission I tried after that. But I went ahead and bought myself a Subaru Crosstrek. . .with manual transmission.
@@BOBMAN1980 Congratulations on the Crosstrek! I like those a lot but got a deal I couldn't refuse on the Renegade a few months after Covid started and prices on used cars crashed. It's actually worth 5k more than when I bought it, talk about crazy times!
It is ok but too small for me. I think it is more designed to fit Europe market than USA. Chevy trax can compete but ford eco has no chance honestly. Eco is so ugly
Honesty the 9 speed in this car is as bad as one. Not in terms of reliability but just in driving performance. I hate it and it really makes the engine feel under powered despite the fact that it isn't.

But comparing build quality and reliability to my Toyota and Lexus cars… Jeep doesn’t even come close 🤦♂️
bought the 2020 model and love it!!!
FCA needs proper quality control system.
Great review again but good God the price of that thing? You could buy a Mazda CX-5 or a Ford Explorer for that price. Wow.
Yeah no way I'm paying that price for this thing. That interior feels cheap as hell and the transmission is a dog.
You can’t buy a Ford Explorer for this. You can definitely get great lease deals on these
Remember, the fully loaded $35k Renegade is priced before incentives.
I’d just get a Crosstek and know it will hold 80% of it’s value in a couple years. I doubt this will be close to 50% even after incentives
I wish I could find a video or pics with the rear seats folded forward, and info on how much room is in the cargo bed in that configuration
Loved my Renegade
The renegade honestly needs a V6 or Turbo I4 in it to compete with it's competitors - the current motor is a bit lackluster in the power dept, JEEP get on the ball
The new Kia Seltos is a way better mini suv and it's cheaper.
MSRP wise yes, but in reality the Renegade is cheaper on the dealer lot. Also the Renegade base engine has 34 more HP, and I'd rather have the ZF 9 speed than Kia's "IVT" (CVT).
@@mitchellrusk I prefer Korean (kia) over Italian (fiat).
Also the seltos is fair better car.
K Zayas depends what you are looking for. The Kia does better on mpg and the interior, but the renegade is a better car for off-road and weather conditions. Personally I find Kias boring but that’s just me.
Good luck trying to take a Seltos through moab.
Fiat isn’t French. It’s Italian.
Well this is a great review of a great little car!😸😸
I love this little jeep💕
Fiat
What’s the best commuter car? I drive 2 hours or more daily! And a comfortable seat with great fuel economy is needed😞
I have a 2019 Hyundai sonata 2.0T limited with everything. Ive driven 6 hours in it I love it AND it gets 515 on a full tank
For that you should just get a car. Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, etc.
Get a Volvo
Finally a review with the new turbo engine. Seems like a nice vehicle but why does Jeep have to under power everything.
Fuel milage, government mandates. Imagine a Renegade with a 3.7l V-6, zero to 60 in a headache.
Does it still come with this amazing feature where the rear wheels go in the air when you apply brakes at certain speeds?
No they stopped doing that in 2018
Seriously it’s been like 6 years since they brought out the 9 speed auto and they STILL haven’t figured it out?!
Yup I have it in the 2018 compass and it’s horrible, it doesn’t know what to do and bangs into gear
I've had it before, perfect for a small offroad capable and very cheap vehicle.
@x6King6x yeah like 10-18,000$ is cheap 😐
The ones in the UK are £17,000 - £23,000 second hand, that's not cheap...
Were in June and this woman is still wearing a jacket
These videos are a few months old sometimes
It's June and near the coast=colder cloudy weather
I am wearing a jacket as I type. WI.
4600 miles out of the box, though , but yes your experience sums up the common worry.
Bought a fiat 500X, which this thing is based off of. Great little car, it had a lot of quarks, but I got a lot of compliments on it lol.
Ratchet and Clank?
Love this car!
Just bought one fantastic
@@davidedwards8357 got any accessories?
Makes you wonder why they would use the Journey key and not the Wrangler key. Looks tons better
Tops out at $36k!?!?! Wtf, no way anybody would pay that amount for such a small cuv.
Because of bug discounts they always have
Sticker price means nothing on Jeep except for wrangler take off 10k or more and that’s what you should be paying
@@michaels999 it's cheaper now
I have Jeep renegade I so happy with it ❤❤❤
My friends who bought/leased renegades have had nothing but problems
1 of my co workers and my sister both have Renegades and like them. My sister tore hers up twice though so it's probably a POS.
I have had zero problems with the 2 and a half years I’ve had mine
That vanity mirror....haha haha, so unnecessarily small. 5:02
How bout the fuel efficiency
I just bought a 2021 Renegade
My mechanics mentor is a cool old man id say cars would be his significant other if he already didn't have a wife but he told me he's gotten customers with renegades and the issue always is the engine
I'll own one of these soon.
You didn’t have me at Fiat
Same
lol, stick with a Camry, guy
Which version of the Jeep renegade is this?? The limited, Trailhawk etc?? Which model is this please!!xx
This is the S model in the uk.
I wonder if I'm the only one who forgot that Chevy is still selling the Trax...
Is there a single transmission that NO ONE is complaining about?
Toyota-Aisin 6 and 8 speed automatic, Honda 10 speed automatic transmission, Toyota-Aisin CVT transmission, and pretty much any manual transmission that’s not made by FCA or GM lol.
2:43: I don't think that word means what you think it means. Espouse: adopt or support. Conclude or surmise might've been more cromulent choices.
I am so glad someone else caught that.
I m going to test drive one on Saturday along with a Citroën C3 full options, so I can pick one for my next private lease plan... I sadly see the Jeep come as standard and a bit more in price but C3 comes in full option with 40 bucks less... So difficult to pick one
$36K? No.
I’ve been in one they’re terrible but a super hot lady was driving it. Now I know why she likes it, the seats were super tight and hard and there’s tons of vibrations in the car 😂
Comes with the fun jeep community why would you want anything else
I still can’t believe this is the Batmobile
Nah, it's just the Brucemobile.
I love jeep they successful 😍😍😍💯💯💯
The engine packs a death punch? What does that mean? What am I supposed to take away from that? Is it good?
It’s spooky
Deft, it mean quickly and skilfully.
I Love My Renegade!
This Rene had been sitting on their lot for several months and they just wanted to get rid of it, I think because it was a manual nobody wanted it. It's actually worth 5k more than when I bought it, talk about crazy times!
Does she come with the Renegade?
Any one knows when will they launch in india?
Don't forget those of us in the snowbelt. Virtual all of us has one awd.
Some people hate the safety features because they can be annoying, so I get why Jeep doesn't make them standard.
The design in white or blue stuning 🤯
It is ok but too small for me. I think it is more designed to fit Europe market than USA. Chevy trax can compete but ford eco has no chance honestly. Eco is so ugly
I love my Renegade! Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the GPS on it.😭
It has no GPS
@@devilsfoodcake2931 yeah, I kind of figured that out.😭
Well atleast it doesn't have a CVT.
Honesty the 9 speed in this car is as bad as one. Not in terms of reliability but just in driving performance. I hate it and it really makes the engine feel under powered despite the fact that it isn't.
I would take a NISSAN ROGUE AWD anytime over this POS!JEEP ON A FIAT PLATFORM!LMFAO!WHAT A JOKE!
@@aRANDOMqUICKIEgunsandfun totally agree I have a 18 compass and it’s horrible it doesn’t know what gear to go into and sometimes bangs into gears

And the Jeep ain’t too shabby either.
The first one is a great one
More powerful than a Geo Tracker.
And the Suzuki sidekick
Every front seat folds down: push it all the way forward, remove headrest, bring backrest completely 180 degrees
Most front seats don't fold flat like this Jeep can even when you remove the headrest... Especially powered front seats.
In coming nutcase Scotty Killmer followers.
That man is the physical manifestation of cancer.

what's wrong with prioritizing reliability? Jeeps are so poorly made it's not even funny
Conner Hendrick Most are, but Jeeps are an enthusiast brand.
Billy Sou you know how stupid you sound dude lol I don’t spend 20k to be enthusiastic for 10 miles then sit there with a shit box
People really skip over buying a 4Runner as an SUV?
What's astounding to me is people will go test drive Jeep Renegades, and still buy them.
If you own a Jeep Renegade, I recommend rolling down just the back windows and driving about 45 miles per hour.
There must be a bunch of stupid people out there that would give $36,000 for this and as long as people are dumb enough to give that kind of money the price of cars will just start skyrocketing even further
Well no one is actually buying them for 36k, mine’s MSRP was 35k and I payed 27k, and you can get better discounts if you try
White girls with daddies money tend to buy these clunkers lol. Before ya call me a racist, black dudes like dodge for some reason. Every race likes to buy junk apparently.
Note: there is a High Altitude edition of the Jeep Renegade.

@Jonathan Losito Variety is the spice of life, right?
Do they still lift the rear wheels off the ground during emergency stops?
No that stopped in 2018
