Now, after Bungie announced sunsetting the sunsetting I only have this to say to you: Thank you. Hey Datto, I just wanna say thank you. Your thinking of how to getting the right mindset to keep some space in the vault, helped me a lot. I've keep some sunset weapons, but I'm sure even after this sunset of the sunset, I will just keep them for sentimental reasons. Maybe I will grab from time to time my Martyr's Retribution or Kindled Orchid just for fun more often, but I don't care about the other rolls I've delete so far. Space in vault give me peace of mind. I started being more aggressive about my vault cleaning because of your videos and honestly no regrets. There's a few weapons I probably would have wanted to keep for funsies, like the Scourge weapons and some things with neat scopes, but it's not a big loss. Any trophy weapons are still there and there's plenty of space for the reprisals when they come out, which will no doubt be leagues better anyway.

Agreed, I think most people are just ribbing because of the vault cleanings. But while the irony of Bungie un-sunsetting is pretty hilarious, anyone seriously sending hate to Datto for this is moronic.
Just because they're going to be unsunset doesn't change the fact that 95% of sunset weapons would be mid at best in the current game. Origin traits, new perks, and the available perk combos make most guns nutty now compared to what was available before.
I think maybe only 1/6 of the weapons in my vault are from beyond light or earlier now, there's few weapon types that haven't had a new version re-released or a new weapon that's power crept the older one.

I think you're underestimating the power of memories. People wnt to play with their favorite guns, the ones they remember raiding for with their buddies. I'm immediately pulling curated Leviathen rolls from my collection. Not gonna use them for sweaty shit like GMs, but they're still fun to use in all other content.
Just remember that the vast majority of D2's playerbase is silent casuals. They don't bother to optimize, they don't watch all of Datto and Aztecross' vids. They don't even use reddit. They just play the game an hour a day, 3-4 times a week. Also, all you need to do is check the comments on this video and see that 80% of them are about pulling out old weapons, and since its as easy as hitting up the Tower, or opening DIM, there's no obstacle to make it "not worth the effort", so people are gonna do it. Just because you won't, doesn't mean the majority of the playerbase won't.

I've been hunting for the og Breakneck roll while the sunset version has been sitting comfortably in my vault. Thank fuck I don't have to deal with Gambit anymore, I'm just gonna wait until FS now. Lol.
2 key factors:
1. Most sunset stuff has been easily replaced or powercrept, so outside of sentimental stuff its no big deal.
2. If my friend is anything to go by, we got his vault from 600 down to 200 without seeing a single piece of sunset gear. This is likely the case for most players with cluttered vaults.
