It's funny how gentle her speaking voice is but how powerful her singing voice is.

LOVE Susan Tedeschi!! Her voice and her playing are sublime. She is easily one of the best vocalists around. There is so much soul in her voice.

It's a true gift; a husband & wife having such passion & chemistry in life and on stage, Susan's beautiful sultry voice & Derek's SG virtuosity.

I spend a whole day with them....Derek and Susan....they are like your everyday folk ...except when they perform....Derek is a gentle monster who is a also a monk....and she is an angry gentle angel. What a pair. So down to earth.

One of the many things I miss about living in South Cowford is occasionally running into Susan and Derek. Only spoke to them if they spoke to me (everyone around them seemed to respect their privacy). Funny story, first time I met Susan she was having lunch with her band at a sushi bar and she introduced herself....I blurted out that I thought her husband was the BEST guitar player I'd ever heard...she replied, "I get that a lot" and then I realized I'd missed an opportunity to tell her how great she is...both on guitar and, of course, vocals...but too late. You're the best, Susan, and a kind soul to boot.

Susan is NOT just a pretty female singer that knows three cords and uses the guitar as a prop. She has chops and can hold her own against any guitarist except maybe her husband Derick. And thats not a bad thing.

Last night my wife offered to do a setup on my guitar. She has more guitars than I do and certainly more electric guitars. I’ll bet Derek and Susan discuss guitars over dinner. I know we do.

Bonnie Raitt was heavily influenced by Lowell George who used the middle pickup on his strat A LOT. he had a Tele pickup in the bridge but most live clips of Lowell he's on that middle pup. Susan is great. Saw her and the band at The Ryman just before the Covid crapola. Great show.

Really surprising to hear Susan in interviews, her tone is totally opposite from her music. She's got some amazing skills and some cool taste as well. Anyone know who makes that flower guitar strap with the green tab she was using around the 2016 Let Me Get By release time, as well as on the NPR tiny desk concert? That strap was super cool

She seems like such a nice woman & person. She tells a good story...🎶🎸⭐I didn't know different wood had different tone...although it makes a difference in violin bodies, so why not guitar necks? I wish the interviewer hadn't cut her off. I would like to know more about this. Susan? Would you care to expound upon this subject? Perhaps w/ a few other people you know that have a grasp on this subject? 😘😎

How old is this video? She almost exclusively uses the "Beano" reissue Les Paul that Derek got from Clapton when she performs now, and it's not mentioned at all.

If it's from the same Rig Rundown as the Derek one's (and I think we can safely assume it is) then it's from late 2017.

Regarding airlines and guitars: why can't we have a system where a fan can loan a worthy instrument to an artist who is flying in? Bands always have seats of theirs in the first couple rows set aside for friends and families. And every city has tons of nice guitars owned by true fans of the band. You borrow my axe, I get a free ticket. I know some artists are a little touchy about their instruments, but some can pick up a shitty epiphone and still sound phenomenal. And, why can't airlines figure out when a professional musician, (or surfer, or fisherman) shows up at the counter, it might be in their best interest not to screw up? It seems that every pro musician has one of these stories.

This is from way back . Think they go onto to talk about pedals and how she uses 9v batteries only so when they are dying you get that break up sound .

  • @williep1626

I saw her way back in the mid to late 90's in Austin and she was just getting started and was still a bit out of place with the guitar playing. Ironically, I think that was her best era musically. The big band thing with her husband seems like a fun way to make touring tolerable, but musically, it just seems to be so boring and cookie cutter. Really lacks the passion found in her early years, and I wish they would strip the set down to maybe just her and her husband, get rid of the backup singers and horn section, and really focus on a more gritty sound. I know that's just my two cents and that a solid producer's guidance could create this kind of record, and then they could go back to touring and doing whatever they prefer.

I feel you man! And I do not wish to do anything to throw shade..... but I have seen her two different times, the first time without the big band at a blues festival. It was more raw, and funky, it totally rocked! And I have to admit when I saw her about two years later with the big band, it was just kind of sleepy. Not a bad performance by any stretch of the imagination, it just didn’t have the same energy!
