    I wonder with that first take down if instead of getting a grip on the neck if an under hook on his arm would have the same effect to getting a more secure side control once he is down. thoughts???

      You can underhook an arm and tap the opposite knee, this is Dominick Cruz's most typical takedown, look him up. ;)

      They must posture to do it so its a good time to shoot a double or single. Club with your trail hand, dig for underhook and use it to knee-tap. If the posture and resist, shoot a double. If the sprawl walk up to an underhook and knee-tap. You should at least be able to get an underhook off your shot even if you don't get a take down. Look up Iranian wrestler Yazdani. His whole game is based on knee taps from a single underhook

      tomsn99 that's very common in wrestling. you can do it effectively without making it hurting them like a strike to the back of the head and if your still complaining you need to reevaluate your toughness and your reasoning for being in class. fights won't be easy they will I'm fact be tough. training should replicate this in a safe manner.

    There's this one very simple takedown that involves very few movements to do. It's essentially used when two people are literally stepping to each other, face to face, about to throw down. Then the guy who does the takedown puts one forearm behind the neck and another on the forehead or somewhere else on the face, and the guy drops like a brick. I never learned how to do this takedown, and for a long time I've been looking for this. It seems like the easiest, simplest takedown I ever saw.

      God, videos like this are just irresponsible, Stephan. There's no way you could pull off a guillotine if your attacker is wearing a gorget and helmet buckled to his breastplate. And good luck putting him down without a dagger to slip into his armpit or eye slit.

      It does but this isn't the most simple way to do it for me. I like to jab set up jab to the head, then the jab hand pushes the body, and I sweep at the ankle. It worked well when I do it when training or competing against other clubs.

    why isn't he punching your nose with his free hand? (0:42)

    • @skip12071
      @skip12071 8 років тому +6

      +Jeneke R. bacause this happens in an instant (in a real fight) and when you're falling, it's hard to land hard punches.
      You also need to do it at the right time. Not when your opponent starts a flurry of fists. But you can do something that makes him NOT want to punch you, like punching his liver, kidneys, ... . When he defends his torso from your punches / knees, he won't think about his legs or punching you in a fraction of a second.
      Another thing you can do, is trying to control (grab) his arm / wrist. First thing he want's to do is free it. Which gives you a second to execute the takedown.
      So like many techniques, you need to combine two or more to be successful.

    • @junoskinner3718
      @junoskinner3718 8 років тому

      +Yoeri Stessens I didn't realise most fights started and finished with a cuddle. Yes street fights are quick. Best to take them down with strike and not a cuddle. These techniques are brilliant, but only if you are dumb and slow enough to get grabbed. It comes back to awareness and skill. I'll never use this because I'm not a cage fighter that has to.

    • @skip12071
      @skip12071 8 років тому +7

      +Junoskinner You seem to know what you are talking about. So I'll try to make my point with that in consideration.
      Most people do not know how to fight properly. They don't know how to hit hard and at the right places. So they go straight for the knock out. But you need to be lucky to strike with a KO punch. Or you need to be trained for years that you know how to place a punch like that AND time it properly.
      But when you know that stuff, you are probably at a maturity level that you don't want to fight unless you absolutely need to (eg: someone keeps coming and punching you without backing off).
      Now you need to strike your attacker down so he stops striking.
      But when you "cuddle" you can take the attacker down WITHOUT the need to kick his head in, like you need to in the example above.
      On the ground, most people don't know what to do and are just flopping around like a fish. Next the mostly try to squeeze your head and try to punch. But those punches could be nullified completely by "cuddling" in the right way.
      In the end you can do with your attacker what you want. He'll be tired after a minute or so because of all the fishy-flopping.
      Long story short. Striking an attacker down is certainly possible (and quicker), but by "cuddling" you can take the attacker down without hurting him or yourself.
      Both sides have advantages and disadvantages. What most people think "what if he's not alone?" Well, you need to keep that in mind as well when you bash his head in.
      His friend probably won't like either way, so...
      Lastly, try to watch some Judo, BJJ and/or Ju-Jitsu tournaments on UA-cam. You can see that these techniques work. Even against another skilled opponent who knows what's happening.
